Giving Away Games Using ModBot
ModBot is now in OPEN BETA. This means that everyone who wants to use ModBot to run a giveaway can do so but that there is still no reliability guarantee. In particular, ModBot has not been tested with unusual author usernames, giveaways by members who later get banned, giveaways of large volumes of keys (not recommended >20 keys at once), giveaways of unusual non-standard key formats, etc.

Instructions for using ModBot can be conveniently found here:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=617641

Beta Rules
1) Please do not PM me questions about the instructions or post questions here. During the open beta period, if you don't understand the instructions, please just wait until the public release. If you correctly use the bot and have legitimate feedback, please post it in here but try not to be spammy.

2) At this point no creative testing is required. So please respect the rules; there's no punishment for failing to read the rules (except that you won't win), but I do not need you to deliberately try to break them for testing purposes. So just know that if you are a greedy jerk and try to win one key in every giveaway you're eligible and never thank someone or give anything back, you have no shield to hide behind. It's on you.

3) DO NOT take this opportunity to test the system by sending tons of junk keys. Because ModBot works using a queue, taking up queue space with junk hurts other users. That's very rude, so don't do it. It is not required for testing purposes.

4) I do not require feedback on response times. ModBot is subject to forum-wide limits on PM sending and operates using a queue. New giveaway generation has the fastest feedback time; processing claims comes next; sending receipts comes last. This is not going to change and can't be made faster. If you feel the response time is poor, choose a period of time where the bot is not being burdened by a high number of giveaways or claims.

5) Finally, please don't repost unclaimed keys. I haven't made a decision about how I'm going to handle unclaimed keys long term, but I have a pretty good idea. I'm not looking for feedback about how to do this at this time.

Please take these rules into consideration and be respectful. I'm not going to pull rank and punish you if you abuse the system, but it makes me less likely to work on ModBot or want to participate in the community if you do. Be generous. Be a nice person. Thanks.

Edit: One other thing, please don't edit these rules into the first post until at least the summer sale if not later. If someone asks for the rules in-thread, just PM them a link to this post or the instructions thread rather than replying in-thread.

I never played the original Broken Sword either, only the new version. I think all the new stuff was anything to do with controlling Nico.

Anyway, I bought the Half Life Anthology. Having played Black Mesa, I will be eagerly anticipating to see how similar or different the games are.

After keeping up with this thread for about the last week, can't believe how many people come in and ask questions without at least skimming through the last few pages.

Would often be enough to read the last page. Or the one they're on. But I'm sure ModBot could be modified to answer automatically if he sees certain word combinations. Like 'How does ModBot work'?

What is Delta Force Xtreme 2, why is it $69.99, and why is it at that price three years after release?

So I'm only missing Half life Source, Half life death match and Lost coast. Are these worth buying on their own?

Lost Coast is a tech demo. You can literally finish it in five minutes. I hope to hell it's free because charging for it is pretty insulting.

I looked at the specs for the original Half Life and realized those were pretty high back in '99!

I remember how my old PC struggled to run HL and the original Sims back then, man that makes me feel old, and I'm not even 30 yet!

Don't bother. I'm not sure if it still applies, but death match and lost coast were free if you had AMD or Nvidia card. Regardless, Death Match is boring and Lost Coast is like an hour long.

NFS: Most Wanted is worth getting Origin for. Easily one of my favorite car porn games of all time.
Doesn't require Origin. Maybe an EA account at most. I've never had Origin installed on my PC and I can play games like Burnout Paradise, NFS Unleashed 2, and NFS HP just fine.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
I no longer trust Criterion to treat me like a sentient creature anymore. Their games are fun, but usually require you to sit in front of an unskippable tutorial on breathing, blinking, and the rudimentary concepts of what a videogame is.

If a caveman were thawed out of some ice, I'd plop him in front of a Criterion game as I'm pretty sure it'd bring him up to speed on the last 40,000 years of human endeavor.

Man... I ran across the Silent Hill Homecoming Steam page and, well, two things:

1. why the fuck is it still $40
2. why the fuck aren't more Silent Hill games on Steam, including Downpour which was good but had some bad framerate and other technical problems that a PC version could fix

Arghhhh Konami

What's going to be great is that during the summer sale it'll probably be a flash deal at 25% off.

Now that Konami is going all in on PC gaming, I imagine its a matter of time before we see Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 2, MGS games, etc on Steam.

I actually got Homecoming during Winter sale 2011 by combining coal. I traded it for Reccetear.

Yeah it'll still be overpriced. I like the game, but it came out in 2008.

The PC versions are great from what I can tell. I really do think a PC port of Downpour would help that game out tremendously. Not to mention that shit-tastic SH HD Collection, which would be a non-issue with the PC versions.

MGS games as in MGS1 and 2, which are the only ones on PC

works for Gamestop (lol)
Probably a stupid question but does NFS Shift 2 have a casual racing mode? I enjoy playing racing games but strictly on an arcade level.

If I remember, you can make it so it auto brakes and stuff for you. That's pretty..arcadey I guess? Well, definitely options for a casual experience

Lost Coast is a great piece of HL2 content that was free for HL2 owners. How is possible to not own it, but own HL2?

For a good few years, if you had an Nvidia or ATI/AMD card, you could receive Portal: First Slice, HL2: Deathmatch and HL2: Lost Coast (the former) or HL2: Deathmatch and HL2: Lost Coast (the latter) for free. Given how long the promotion ran for, I was surprised when I read that Valve had ended it.

Wait, what? I don't remember tutorials in NFS:MW or HP. I thought MW in particular just plopped you down in the city in car

If they could port MGS2HD to 360 I'm sure they could find someone to put together a PC release for it if Konami actually cared.

MGS1/2 OG aged horribly on PC though and would be considered barely functional by todays standards.

I have a feeling a team at Konami is working on porting MGS3 and MGS4 to x86/x64 for the next-gen version of the HD collection.

To release after MGSV comes out on PS4, Xbox One, and, eventually, PC.

it's going to be a long 2 days waiting for the sale to start...

$55 loaded in my steam wallet for the sale, hopefully that'll be enough

It always bothered me how MGS1/2 are less of a hassle to emulate than to use the PC versions. (Sans power required for pcsx2 and pressure sensitive facebutton controller)

I'll have to remember to pick up a handful of $50 codes tomorrow today. I was supposed to do it today yesterday but completely forgot. :(
