If TB said shit about the game i dont care. Its a damn good game and worth the money. 1€ for each hour you play. You will have a great time with it.
He didn't say anything bad about it, actually. It's just that I don't know if I'll enjoy it or not, given that it's extremely short, and I doubt it has too much replay value.

But oh well, I have $17.75 bucks on my Wallet from TF2 paraphernalia, so I could get it and not spend a single cent. I may do it tonight, then. You better hope I have enough spare money for Fez after buying DLC Quest, or I'll have no choice but to challenge you to death on a F.E.A.R. slow-mo deathmatch.

Well, my 2 potential sellers on XCOM bailed or something. They were selling it for 10 as well ><

Anyone have their copy laying around?

just got my new computer, and wondering how to bring my backed up steam games across to it. I'd like to move some of them to my SSD, and the rest to the HDD.

Do I just copy them all across to the HDD, let steam find them and check they're all ok, then use something like steam mover to move the ones I want to play across to the SSD? Or can I just copy them into two different folders and steam will still find them? I can set two folders for installation on two drives in steam now.

Somebody has probably posted this already but Amazon preorders if Bioshock Infinite also get a coupon for XCOM.

A credit good towards the full price of XCOM, usable only on XCOM, in addition to the $30 credit towards more 2K games, when the game launches.

Good question. I've been toying with this for a few months now. I've got a 1tb drive for Steam and another as a scratch disc and media drive with Steam back ups on. I've had problems with stuff I've installed to another drive other than the one Steam is installed in but backup and restore has always worked. I think it's a problem case by case as to what is on the new content delivery server at Valves end. Let us know how you get on as I've got about 250 odd items I want to move to a new pc but don't have the space or an optical drive (yep that's bit me in the arse).

Edit: But as JaseC says sym links and mklink save the day when it all goes pear shaped. I'm looking at you The Witcher 2.

The former. Steam won't detect the games if they're not located where it installed them to, which is exactly where symbolic links come in handy.

Edit: If the games you're transferring to the SSD make use of N/GCF archives in the root of the steamapps folder (just look for the game title -- e.g. Company of Heroes has company of heroes content.ncf and company of heroes english.ncf), you'll need to manually link them, as SteamMover/Tool are designed to work with folders.

Drunken Robot Pornography and Duke Nukem 3D are very close to be released.
Oh well, guess I won't be getting DLC Quest then. Duke Nukem 3D is top priority.

Can't wait to kick ass and chew bubblegum once again.

Duke Nukem 3D is coming out today, but according to their Twitter it's not launching with MP or co-op, which will instead be patched in at a later date.
So I'll have enough time to finally beat the game without cheats? Nice.

Who am I kidding? It's never nice to have less features than advertised, even though they'll add them later. At least they are sincere.

To be fair I've spent more with GMG this year than I have anywhere else. But it all redeemed on Steam and they got my money from dlc doodads so everyone's happy.

One thing I wish I did when I began tracking my Steam spending for the year is make a note of where I purchased an item from.

I wish I didn't. For the backlog blitz thread I've got a spreadsheet (you know coz pc's are for spreadsheets) with all my backlog, purchases and costs on. Makes for depressing reading.

Somewhat related, Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut for Wii U:

The Director's Cut offers a full slate of Wii U GamePad features including touch-screen hacking, interactive map editing, augmented sniping, grenade throwbacks and many other neural hub enhancements. Along with in-depth Miiverse integration, the Director's Cut also provides access to developer commentaries and in-game guides.

Tongs's Rescue mission and the entire Missing Link chapter have also been integrated seamlessly into the narrative flow of the Director's Cut. Other core Deus Ex: Human Revolution augmentations include overhauled boss fights, refined game balance and combat, improved AI, and striking visual improvements which make this edition the best looking and most immersive Deus Ex experience available.

and then:

Of course, the GamePad-specific features will remain exclusive to Nintendo's console, but there seems no reason why much of the additional content, such as the director's commentary, integrated DLC and improved boss battles, couldn't be sold to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers. Dugas says he can't comment on that at the moment.

fingers crossed.

same here. Generally, things have been cheaper with their coupons and cash back and shit. I'm just digging the DD competition between GMG, Steam, Amazon, etc.

Just watching the Castlevania Mirror of Fate Quick Look over at GB. 2 things, 1.) it looks great albeit a bit of slow down here and there and 2.) what the fuck is going on with that story? Sounds confusing as anything and is a mish-mash of past, present and future canon. Lords of Shadow best hurry up on Steam.

Oh definitely. At the moment everyone seams to being quite well out of the DD pc market. GMG's constant vouchers are always a plus, Amazon get some crazy deals and cashback offers, the various Indie bundles offer great value. And this is the happiest thread on GAF.

I think it's best to forget any previously established CV canon, wrt to Mirror of Fate. The entire backstory for the main characters of the franchise and how they relate to each other got rewritten.

The previous version of the canon was all relatively consistent, other than maybe the Lament of Innocence / Matthias Cronqvist part sort of retconning Dracula's Vlad Tepes origin. The version of the storyline from Mirror of Fate is completely inconsistent with what was established, especially when it comes to directly contradicting CV III.

Well, yeah, Lords of Shadow has a few plot points that lead into Mirror of Fate :p I'm afraid you got yourself spoiled though.

Huh, ok will do thanks guys. Well got as far in the 360 version as to meeting the Patrick Stewart character and the 1st boss (SotC style ice thingy) but other than that my memory is a little hazy. Looks a bit more metroidvania based so will probably get the demo when I get home.

I'm not sure where to ask this, but I have problem with Steam.

I just install a new windows 7 on my pc, when I install Steam and try to login, it ask for verification code sent to my email, but I never got the email.

I already make a support account and sent the message about my problem to steam, just wondering how long does it usually take before they responds. I hope there's no problem with these, I have tons of games in my steam account.

thanks.

You should get a response within a day or two. Have you checked the spam and trash folders of your e-mail account?

If you're certain that the e-mail address you're checking is the one tied to your account, in the meantime you can contact your ISP/e-mail provider stating that you're not receiving e-mails from steampowered.com. A staff member should be able to tell you whether or not the e-mails are coming through at their end (I had a similar issue with e-mails from Indie Game Stand not hitting my inbox, and my ISP later informed me that it wasn't seeing any traffic from IGS at all).

Do I want to play it again? I already got 100% in the game plus in Missing Link
That's also the part I don't get -- is there really that many people who haven't played DXHR already? Or are there really that many people who already have but would buy it again for $60 just to see some revamped boss fights and WiiU controller gimmicks.

If they do release it on PCPS360, I wonder if we have to buy the update as DLC. I don't see a AAA publisher doing what Hard Reset did.

Valve seriously needs to fix Big Picture to be convenient to use on a PC that is used for gaming as both a standard desk gaming PC and on a home theater (via long HDMI cable for example as in my case).

1) When big picture switches target display to primary (target the home theatre) and exits, if you have multiple monitors it screws up the display order. Need to keep manually fixing display order.

2) It seems to forget your target display when it becomes disconnected such as when you turn your home theater receiver off. Need to keep manually changing target display.

3) It offers absolutely no choice for target audio device, needs to be changed to HT receiver manually in the OS and then back again every time. Unforgivable.

As it stands it needs so much fiddling around that it's just too much trouble when you feel like going to the sofa and getting the big TV big sound for a while.

With the director's cut? I'm not seeing anything announced from it that makes it worth another full run. You've got some generic "gameplay and AI improvements" but nothing specific, so it'll probably be nothing anyone can notice.

Of course the nintendo fanboys think it's the be all end all and better than the PC version.

edit: Actually the 1 gameplay "improvement" that they did detail was you get 2 bars of energy that refill on their own now instead of 1 on all but the highest difficulty. So they made the game even more broken and easy.

Definitely an "improvement" there.

Valve can stick their hats where the sun don't shine.

I'm sticking with GMG exclusively from now on. This burn isn't cool.
You're talking like Valve did something wrong here. It was exclusively your fault for not waiting a little longer.

Not saying you shouldn't feel bad about this, but don't put the blame where it doesn't belong.

One thing I wish I did when I began tracking my Steam spending for the year is make a note of where I purchased an item from.
I save all the e-mails I get when purchasing from game stores, as well as those Steam sends me when someone gifts me a game, and every PM here on GAF with Steam keys. In a few years I'll look at all that stuff, calculate the price and cry.

I calculated the price 3 months or so ago and already wanted to cry. That was prior to the Winter Seal I think. Shame on you, cheap games. Shame on you.

whats this with GMG? I preordered bioshock infinite, and got sent keys for Bioshock 1&2. So should I now be expecting an email with a code for xcom as well? Or is it only if you buy it now?

Got a spare bioshock infinite hopefully coming with my graphics card, and already have Xcom so that'd be spare too

edit: from gmg
All customers who have pre-purchased a Bioshock Infinite bundle will also receive a free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown by 26th March. The key will be sent to you via email and will also be found in the "Keys" section of your GMG account.

When do we receive our BioShock Infinite and XCOM keys?
BioShock Infinite keys will be sent out on the release date. We can't guarantee that you'll be able to preload.

XCOM Enemy Unknown will be sent out by the 26th March at the latest. If you see others receiving keys before you, do not worry. Everyone who is eligible will receive a copy.

I already own XCOM from GMG, will I still receive a free copy?
Yes, even if you have already purchased XCOM you will also receive a free copy with BioShock Infinite.

Will I be able to tell which game is which?
Yes, the XCOM keys will have this text in front of the Steam key, without the quotation marks, "XCOM:" This should make it easier if you want to give it to a friend!

On Steam maybe, updates/patches cost on consoles. Makes practically no sense almost 2 year later. I can see them releasing it for cheap to cover costs and a budget release.
