Could just be part of your ISP's network is down at present or that Guild Wars has been incorrectly marked as an inaccessible site - they might not be intentionally blocking it and have a fault that they are not aware of.

What's extra wierd is that http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ reads all three of those subdomains from ArenaNetworks.com as down, but not ArenaNetworks.com itself.

Argh, I'm gonna call my ISP later today. I wish I knew what the IP addresses are of the ArenaNet servers for NA so I can tell them which ones I can't find.
Guild Wars, as of now, was a goddamn waste of money. :(

Damn, they got me... I just wanted to buy Dirt 1 but then I thought... to hell with it, I´ll take GW Trilogy too. Steam got me again... :(

Are Dirt/Dirt2/Grid all compatible with the 360 controllers? Do they change the button prompts to the 360 ones?

Yeah, they all have perfect support: they change button prompts, have rumble support, and use the same layout that they do on 360.

Edit: My bad, Dirt 1 doesn't change the button prompts, but it does do everything else.

Okay what the hell is up with Guild Wars.

Seriously, it just got downloading through Steam and when I ran it a window popped up and said Unable to connect, blah blah blah.
What's wierder though is that I can go to the acccount pages and what not on NCsofts website, but I can't go to http://www.guildwars.com/ Firefox says it can't find the server. http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ says that it's up though.

Can anyone help or is anyone else having this problem? My ports are open, Gw.exe is an exception on Windows Firewall, and no one on Steam Forums or GW fan forums or wikis or NCsofts site has an answer or even mentioned it. I seem to be the only one with the problem.
Sucks I payed $20 for a damn dialog box.

If it makes you feel any better... I can't play Guild Wars either, though it's for a different reason. I upgraded an old trial account and now they need a character name as a security password for me to log-in. So stupid... anyway I can't remember the character name and the only way to get it is through ncsoft support which is email only if it's something other than technical or billiing support. It's been 2 days now and I still don't have a response other than, "Your ticket has been escalated and a Guild Wars support agent will respond directly." Dammit I just want to play.

You could switch to Google DNS (instructions at link) or another public one at least until your ISP fixes theirs.

guildwars.com gives me a "server not found" error. NCsoft.com loads just fine. This is pissing me off.

Try looking up the ip and connecting directly to it. That won't help with the game though unless you somehow map it on your computer (hosts file maybe?)

Now that I think about it... a similar thing happened to me with EQ2. The fix involved me reseting the IP Address on the cable modem. It was as easy as unplugging the modem for about 5 min, connecting it directly to my PC, getting a connection, unplugging again (5 min), connecting to router and waiting for connection again. Maybe try this... unless you have a DSL connection or something with a static IP.

Are these still worth playing? Widescreen support? Modern day graphics card issues? I don't want to be disappointed again like with Deus Ex.

Max Payne 1 has an issue with audio, but there's a small size patch to fix it. Neither game has widescreen support, they just stretch a 4:3 image. Other than that, they run fine, and are damn fine action games.

Ah well that answers it then. Thanks for the info. Gonna save my few bucks for the next Steam impulse buy.

Killthee

helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!
Both Max Payne's for $3.74?!?!?!

I know I'll never even install them, but I can't resist! :lol :lol :lol

Tips for those buying GW, if you want the update to get all the files i suggest adding -image in the command line.

Doing this will prevent downloading files when you loading into certain areas sometimes GW won't DL all the files.

yeah they're awesome

at least the first one is which i just finished for the first time yesterday :3

The second one is even better in my opinion. You get to play as Mona Sax! Also, I love setpieces in 2. There is some seriously awesome shit in there. But yeah, if you are two cheap to buy this series, one of the greatest action series of our time, than something is wrong with you. Like you can't like 3rd person shooters or shooting things or awesome writing and not love these games.

So I bought that Racing Pack, is there any reason to play Dirt 1 before Dirt 2 or should I just play Dirt 2 and ignore Dirt 1?

I would recommend Dirt 1 first as it doesn't have the rewind ability and if you play it second, it will be hard to adjust to not having that. Dirt 1 has some fantastic hill climbs that should not be missed. There is one in particular near the end of the championship mode that is 12 miles of pure awesome. You get into the zone and it's a goddamn magical experience.

I think unless we're talking bran name flakes, it's not that cheap anywhere.

It's nice living in New England where you can find cereal that cheap.
