Yeah times like these just annoy the hell out of me. Someone needs to authorize an intern to spend an hour making a keygen program or something. It's just a random string of numbers :(

Does Steam offer refunds? It has been over 16 hours since my Guild Wars debacle and I haven't heard anything from NCSoft yet. If I don't hear anything by Monday, I am going to see about getting a refund on my purchase which is a shame because Guild Wars looks really fun. :(

A random string of numbers that needs to be registered with the FUEL-servers, so they authenticate properly.

If anything it is Codemasters fault for not having someone do this on a weekend. Steam would probably be very happy to add them to their database on a weekend.

It's really rare to get a refund with Steam. You'll be best off just waiting for NCSoft to respond.
Well, you can still try explaining it to the Steam customer service, they are a bunch of good guys.

Bought GTA4 knowing it wouldn't run great, the 5750 isn't the issue it's my slow ass E6400, I can play it at 1280*1024 on medium, but when it has to load stuff the frames go down to 3-7, running from the cops ain't fun when that happen, I drop the setting to low and get FPS of 25+ when loading it usually stays over 45fps.... gonna do some test like lower the res turn off Vsync, shadows and AA, see what happens.....5750 is holding it's own shitty CPU is not.:lol

Well I got an email from a GM about an hour ago saying my case was being escalated to senior staff so who knows.

It's not rare at all! Steam support is really easy to work with. I've had 4 refunds over the life of my account. I even purchased CoD: 2 and then the next week they had the CoD Warchest available for the same price I paid for CoD 2 and I emailed them and they refunded my purchase of CoD 2 so I could purchase the Warchest.

Just email them, explain the situation and that you're not happy, but be polite about it. They will refund your money no problem.

I've been really happy with everything I bought over the Rockstar week. Max Payne has amazing graphics considering its age. San Andreas will be awesome once I get around to mapping my 360 controller to it with joy2key. Bully is the most fun I've had in a while...except that it kind of reminds me of those hilarious japanese "dating" sims that always take place at schools.

Well, GTA4 is playable, I'm really picky about framerate but it works just fine, it's not like SA ran at full speed when I played it on my old computer either so I'm used to GTA's not performing great :lol.

Still gonna check and see if there are some performance tweaks out there that doesn't make it look butt ugly.


Edit: Running it at high-ish settings, draw distance is at max so is details and cars, though I'll lower the cars one, when there's a whole bunch of them it takes a dip into the..ZONE OF NOT SO GOOD FRAMERATE.

I'm not sure about refunds through Steam, but never do a chargeback. They'll disable your entire account!

Okay so The Bard's Tale is a godawful PC port. Runs slow as balls with Vsync on (which it is by default, and there's no way to turn it off in-game). So I force it off with nVidia Control Panel. Fine, it runs fine now. Except for the worst screen tearing I've ever seen. Holy crap so awful. also the cut scene video quality is probably ALSO the worst I've ever seen.

Buuuuuut I wanna play it anyway. Does anyone know how to get it to run in windowed mode? Or if it's possible?

Anyone have any luck making Fuel look nice on an ATI card? I tried using ATI Tray Tools to force AA and AF, but it didn't seem to take.

I'm not usually too picky about image quality, but this looks really assy. :(

I tried a fair number of changes with that myself. I could only get the ingame AA and AF to kinda work, not the overriding stuff. The one thing you might try aside from forcing mipmap detail to high is setting the LOD bias to something negative in the tray tools. -4 might be overkill but I think it had at least some effect for me. Once you get moving quickly I guess you notice the jaggies less.

And let us know if you find out a better solution. =(

How did you get the in-game settings to work? I've never been able to tell a difference with either the AA or AF settings from the launcher.

I tried adjusting the LOD bias, but it didn't seem to make a difference either.

And let us know if you find out a better solution. =(

Will do, though I'll probably give up on it pretty soon if I don't see any progress.

Huh, what card? You might make sure that you don't have some sort of override settings going in CCC (try turning catalyst AI to low, that sort of thing). With my 4850 the one really obvious difference I could see was setting the LOD bias to -4, launching the game and playing, vs setting it to positive (like 4), launching and playing. With the positive one you should definitely see that the grass looks awful and blurry.

I have a 4850 (an Asus, I think). I have Catalyst AI off and AA/AF are both set to use application settings.

I might just reinstall my drivers... I read that CCC and ATI Tray Tools don't always play well together, so maybe having them both installed screwed something up.
