Is anyone else having crashing problems with Deus Ex on W7 x64? I had no issues at all up until the airfield, now I can't play more than 2 minutes without the game just freezing (Music plays, but nothing on the screen moves or anything).

It's Counter-Strike: Source. The stats are currently broken.

I guess you have the game, but never played it?

Pretty much. It ran like crap on my computer when I last tried it ages ago so I only played the original.

I did. I looked at the name.

"Oh, Bionic Commando? ...Meh. The original game is hugely fucking overrated. I'll wait until the price is even lower, or I don't have 39176590817302875 games to play."

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will have a free weekend for it's multiplayer portion from July 8 to July 11 and it will be 50% off during this time period.

Yeah and here in Canada they charge you $5 to activate them. $100 cards are the most I've seen. That's 5% ... Fucking rip off.

You could ask around to see if someone will buy it for you and gift it, seems to happen fairly often during the sales. I lack the paypal to facilitate such a transaction.

The reason for the volume isn't dramatic arc. The volume of the music in the game is what controls how powerful your shots are. In quiet parts of the track your weapon isn't as powerful, just as when you first start the game and have no volume power-ups.
Well yeah, so volume is to player strength, and if that steadily increases, that's drama.

I didn't know that it was any good. I also didn't know that the price for the PC version was so high.

Puzzle Agent seems to have gone up and is 10% off so only $9

how does steam work with using your account on more than one computer?

if i get puzzle agent and play it on my macbook will that lock me out of my account on my desktop?

is there some kind of time limit on going back and forth between them or is it literally just when you are running steam on the computer and signed in?

No, im pretty sure as long as you log into your steam account from any computer you can download the game and play it without limits. There are probably limits however on the # of simultaneous connections your account can have.

Don't you have a Paypal account that is linked to your bank account? Thats shit is vital for any gamer without a credit card.

It's sort of a trial for them.

It's a complete Layton ripoff. The puzzles aren't as good either.

Still, It's very enjoyable for $10 and I love seeing Telltale go with 2D art for a change. More of that please.

You can log into any computer anywhere on Steam.

Your account can only be logged in on one PC/Mac at a time, though. If you're logged in somewhere else, it'll kick that one off.

To expand slightly, if you want to play a Steam game on a system but think you might have another system already logged into Steam and don't want to shut that one off, you can play in offline mode on one system while the other is logged into Steam.

To be clearer:
Step 1: Laptop logs into Steam, downloads game(s).
Step 2: Laptop enters into Offline Mode (it's an option at the top)
Step 3: Desktop uses Steam. Laptop plays game in Offline mode. Desktop can also play game at same time.

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter free weekend and sale coming (50% percent sale, 10 bucks, buy it.)

From the press release:

"This is total bullshit," said Fork Parker, Chief Financial Officer at Devolver Digital. "How are we supposed to make any money by giving away our sweet multiplayer juice for free?"

"Goddamnit," replied Fork when asked for further comment.

Explain this. What aspect?

its an ok game but the singleplayer is pretty badly flawed. the fact that it has an unlockable/collectable system but no option to replay levels, the ridiculous (nearly) insta-kill invisible walls that will sometimes even kill you just for going too high, the way a lot of it is fairly corridory despite looking like it should be more open (and the aforementioned killer invisble walls that are used to enforce that).

Unfortunately, I tried that with Left 4 Dead and it didn't work :-( no way to set up LAN games

It works with L4D2 and i'm quite sure I did it with the first one as well. Are you forgetting to connect through the developers console? Enable the console in the options and since you won't be connected to steam you manually have to hit ~ to get into the console and type 'connect 192.168.....' to connect to the other player.

I've done it with every source game, and more.
sv_lan 1
net_start
map {mapname}

Then let the other connect through either console and ip, as ^ says or hit up the LAN tab in the server browser, that should work as well.

The invisible wall thing was an annoyance at first sure, but unless you're blindly swinging it's pretty easy to avoid. Also I thought you could replay levels (there was a level select screen anyway). It was linear but more often than not the radiation placement made sense. It definitely got better as the game progressed (the worst sections were in the first hour).

It has flaws, sure. I just think the game gets a bad wrap for a lot of things it's not actually doing wrong.

They pretty much nailed the swinging though. I think the next-gen Bionic Commando is underrated actually, it's a pretty good game with some flaws, not completely crap like some people make it out to be.

Yeah this. Actually "playing the game" was a ton of fun. The arm mechanics were a blast. Kiting cars into the air to bring down onto four bad guys, or throwing one giant robot at another giant robot was just plain fun. It's a shame Grin's not around anymore to make another one.

All that's true plus the story twist is MGS-style dumb but I still enjoyed the hell out of it. I just really enjoy a good swinging/grappling hook mechanic in a game and this one is the best. I don't think I got killed by the radiation but 2 or 3 times through my whole playthrough. Yeah, it shouldn't be there in the first place but in most cases you can see it and they give you time to get back out before you die.

If you enjoy a swinging/platforming mechanic then you really should try the game. I think the game got a bad reputation on GAF after the multiplayer-only demo and lists like these made the rounds so most people never even bothered with it. That's perfectly valid, by the way. After all most purchases are made based on word of mouth. But I think there's a group of people who would have a good time with the game if they took a chance on it and didn't focus on the negative aspects.

ps. how much for Bionic Commando? back when it was on deal, i mean.

I think it was like $11 for both BC and BC: Rearmed. I snapped it up immediately and I'm double dipping here. (Triple for BC:R!)
