Texas Cheat 'Em is Now on Steam
August 10, 2009, 1:52 pm - Valve
It's not whether you win or lose... it's about how far you can bend the rules without getting caught. In Texas Cheat 'Em, that's pretty darn far. Play casino-themed mini-games to activate one of 15 cheating abilities - then make your own luck. Turn a bad hand into a sure thing. Send your opponent's Royal Flush right down the drain. Steal chips, fold for free, or know the community cards in advance. Cheat strangers out of their fortunes... before they do it to you. Remember: glory is forever, but broke is only funny when it happens to someone else.

Includes full Steamworks stats, achievements and leaderboards. Save 10% until August 17th.

I despise Steam sales.

I make far too many purchases.

You just have to apply a simple policy: not a single new game until you finish two from your backlog. It works pretty good.

After playing the majority of the games in the 10 pack this weekend I don't know if I should be happy that I've got so many new games to enjoy or if I should be upset with myself for waiting this long on a few of these. Purchase of the year so far for me.

Yeah, it does, I employed the policy for a good long while.

The problem is, that only works if you have time to play games. If, like me, you suddenly find yourself unable to finish a game for a long time, due to life... that policy no longer works and your nerves break down and the pressure builds and more sales come and they add up and you're thinking oh just this once but NO I can't do it but then you do it and then it's all over - BAM it's BUY BUY BUY BUY

WHAT I'M NOT CRAZY

Actually I'm happy to say I've purchased very few games offered during Steam sales for quite a long while, even though I want a lot of them.

Any American here that would help a poor European getting The Witcher while it's still on sale?
I'll Paypal you the money and add a little extra to cover Paypal fees/your trouble.

PM me.
Edit: Well, got the game, thanks K.Jack (and everyone else who was willing to help)!

Is Eve Online Apocrypha the expansion pack? I'm kind of confused because it says it is... yet it's the only purchasable Eve thing on Steam. The only other thing is an Eve free demo.

Whenever they release an expansion, they rename the game.

Expansions are all free, so if you buy Apocrypha, rest assured, you are buying EVE.

(At least that was the case last time I checked, which was a couple expansions ago. I highly doubt it's changed.)

I am not from USA (thus the content is blocked for me too) but what you can do is:

- use a free US VPN service (or trial) to get the game, paying with paypal.
- to minimize any risk, do it in a separate steam account, not linked to your main account, and gift the game to your account.

it works everytime.

What's Valve's policy on that? I assume that they could disable gifting to specific regions if it were that big a deal, but I don't want to jeopardize my account in any way...

Regarding proxy they are obvious against it, since it bypass their regional saling plans. In their foruns they expressed against it and there were talks about disable games bought that way if they caught you, but it seems more talk than anything because I never saw anything regarding that and I personally had done that in the past. Anyway I would recommend you to do that in a separate account and gift the game to your main account just for segurance.

Regarding gifting there is nothing they can be against to or do something about it. If the game is payed in the currency of the country they are bought there is nothing against gifting to another user, even if that user is in another territory. It is the same as someone brings you a game from USA, it was legally bought there. It would be illegal to do something to prevent it, unless they disable gifting at all, which of course they will not do since it is a source of incoming.

You have to understand that Valve is not against your money those restrictions are applied due to distributor/publishers requests in some territories due to diferent publishers/price points. So if you find some legal gap (like gifting using US funds) they will not do nothing against it, because the publisher can not complain.

I thought about that, but I didn't want to get the game blocked if they found out the account that gifted it was using a proxy.

And I decided I would ask here before taking a risk. I'll probably try that with a cheap game to see how it works out.

The Map Packs are free in the form of patches, though from what I understand, they take a few weeks to hit PC after they release on the consoles.

Same for Xbox Live Arcade titles.

The hardest part of all of that is actually finding a free us vpn account.

Sold. Damn you Steam! I also just bought the Witcher and the $30 indie pack, and have played neither one.:lol

Of course. Who the hell would pay for maps on PC, when people make better maps for free than the actual developers?

Maybe because WaW doesn't sell, while COD4 doesn't need no discount to sell? :D

Jesus Christ Steam really is becoming a problem for me. I'm starting to buy games I never even intended on buying ever and my backlog is ridiculous. WAW is a game I never wanted to buy. Half off though...damn. Going to think it over for a bit.

DON'T! It's a trap, trust me. I bought it at the last 50% sale and regret it.

I know I know but it is such a tease to not see CoD4 go on sale.

I did just buy The Witcher though. I got my copy through free OEM with a videocard...had to email atari for my cd key but I lost it.

The game is awesome, so I figure I would pick it up while its on sale on steam. Now I don't have to worry about a cd key anymore. Only a near 15gb download. o_O

Hugely disagree. I enjoyed the WaW campaign more than CoD 4 in many ways, and the multiplayer is just as addictive. Well worth the $25.

Does it say anywhere on Steam that WaW comes with either Map pack 1 or 2?

Traditionally, when you download a game off of Steam, it includes all the latest patches. So it's safe to assume that the game will come with both map packs.

I don't see what's to hate about the game, its just standard COD fare, as always it plays the same like every game in the series. Pretty mindless but still rather entertaining. If you've liked previous COD titles, then you'll like this, not much more to it really. Oh, and zombie nazi's is awesome.

Oh, and yes the Steam version has both of the first two map packs already, its kind of ridiculous that the whole game + map packs is about the same price as the 2 map packs on consoles (in the UK at least), but whatever, I'm not complaining. :lol

Map pack 3 should be added within a month or two, again completely free.

Heh, good idea of them to get some sales for WaW before Modern Wardafe 2 comes out, because after that it's over.

Agreed, I would actually go as far to say it's the most fun I have had in a COD campaign. Treyarch did a great job imo.

I am still waiting for the XBLA/PSN releases which should sell for US$ 19.99. If they want me to buy the PC version they have to do better, like 50% discount. Did it help you? :)

Great, I can pick up Emerald City Confidential for less than ten bucks without having to join playfirst's retarded discount membership.
