Goddamnit. Apparently Lara Croft: The Guardian of Light is a one month 360 exclusive so it won't be on Steam till September. Fucking Microsoft and it's summer of live bullshit.

So that's why they only ever released those hideous looking subHD screenshots.

On one hand I really love me some Disciples II.

On the other hand... man, those reviews are really terrible.

I like the description of the game, but Tom Chick's rant about how worthless the AI is gives me a lot of pause. I was hoping we'd receive a much more polished version of the original Russian release, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Did anyone bite the bullet on the new one and want to give some impressions?

Anyone remember the mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 called Alien Swarm? Well, the developers were suppose to make a retail version of the mod on Source. Shorty after they announced the retail version, the project seemingly died out. The reason why is because the developers were all hired by Valve and Valve decided to take on the costs of producing the title. Now it's being released on Steam for free on July 19, 2010:

That's... interesting. What are they working on now?

Team 17 has to be crapping their pants right now. They just released Alien Breed last month. :lol

Huh, well, I'm interested. Don't really like to the out-of-game UI, but it looks like it could be pretty damn fun.

That was an awesome mod. I was wondering what was going on with the retail game.

Pretty awesome.

From the news post -

Two years ago Valve hired the talented team behind the popular top down co-op mod Alien Swarm. Since then they have been busy working on the Left 4 Dead Series, and now Portal 2. However, we never forgot about Alien Swarm and the team has spent a lot of time bringing the game to Source in between their contributions to the other Valve projects.

On Monday, July 19th Alien Swarm is going to be released for free via Steam.

In addition to the game, Valve will also release the complete code base for Alien Swarm. This includes updates to the Source engine SDK and full Steamworks integration. If you’ve ever thought about developing a mod on the Source engine with Steamworks, this release provides more insight and examples for using Steamworks in game production.

Virus? More like phishing.

C'mon people.
Well, yeah . . . Phishing is what I used in the subject line in my complaint.

They just said "Thanks, we'll investigate . . but we are not going to respond with anything else to me." (which is fine.)

It's strange that they are releasing the Source SDK for free along with Alien Swarm.
They want to compete with the UE3.0 SDK, which also has some pretty awesome free games to advertise it.

THQ currently has a sale on several titles and they have Metro 2033 for 75% off:

http://store.thq.com/store/thq/en_US/pd/Metro-2033/productID.167234300

$12.50

Thanks - I'll be buying that when I get home.

The sale extends to a whole bunch of PC titles.

The price on DoW2 makes me wish I hadn't purchased it during the Steam Sale, but at least now I can pick up Dawn of War and its expansions, along with Metro 2033. (I didn't buy the THQ pack during the Steam Sale since I had most of the games, except for the ones I just listed.)

I might just grab Chaos Rising for $7.50 if I can register the key to Steam. I can, right?

^^There's a few people on CAG complaining of the same thing.

Just a heads up I ordered SR2 from THQ and it's been 15 mins and still no confirmation email. Their site must be getting hammered.

Yep just like DoW II

Someone should make a thread about the THQ sale as there are some nice games there, red faction guerilla for $5 also if you missed it last month.

Sorry if I'm being thick but can I register DoWII on Steam if I buy and download it from the THQ Store site? Seems like they wouldn't want to allow that.

If you have serious horsepower on your machine it is worth $12.50 just to flex it, imho.
DX11 and 3D Ready (although I can't get both to work at the same time on my rig, the DX11 pipe looks great .. usually. Some levels are uglier)

I got DoWII from THQ Uk store a few months ago and had no issues registering it on steam.

Geez, every time I buy a PC game for more then $10 it goes on sale for 95% off or something ridiculous in a few weeks to make me regret my purchase.

I guess the moral of the story is don't ever pay more then $10 for a pc game. Not sure how that works out in the long run for the PC gaming platform, but oh well.

Edit: Anyway, all of the Relic games for these prices are incredible value, buy them if you have any interest what so ever in strategy games.

Just don't buy games you don't want to play immediately unless they are heavily discounted.

You can also use the dowII and saint row 2 keys on steam.
So... America only? Can’t see an option for Europe in the billing information.

Though I bought DoW2 from there before.

Hmm . . . would that really work? It says PC download . . . can you get the key from that download version and then enter it into steam? Anyone try it?
Yup, you get an email with the key so you can register on Steam.
