Since I saw people mentioning JC3 and Mad Max, if you had to pick one game out of Mad Max, JC2, JC3, Shadow of Mordor which one would you recommend? Price is a factor as well but if your pick isn't JC2, I'll wait until they drop to under $10 anyway.
(You could throw far cry 3 and 4 into the mix as well.)

Just got the email in...

Consortium 2 crowdfunding resumes again on Wednesday!! :D

Oh how will that work then? I remember the ks failed but they said they weren't done yet.
Consortium was an interesting game, I'd like them to try again.

Part 2 is literally part 2 of the DLC. It adds more to the DLC.
Think of Part 1 has the DLC's Early Access.

I've been reading about it - so you had to have a save from earlier in the game to play the DLC, and then had to leave that save as-is instead of continuing to the end of the game. Pretty weird.

JC2 for some cheap sandbox fun. JC3 for explosion porn and wingsuit shenanigans, and perhaps to test your rig. JC3 have much improved mechanics over JC2 but as a whole JC2 is the better game.

Far Cry 3 is trash unless you really LOVE hunting. Max Mad and mordor I haven't played yet.

I'm watching the Uncharted 4 Test Chamber, and why
is there driving? It looks like awkward filler. It's not like people were receptive towards the driving in Arkham Knight. Or were they?

Are these two proof enough that nobody is working on the game, or can there be a developer branch that isn't listed on SteamDB and isn't accounted for by SteamCharts?

I assume you're asking if the game is done given the store page info was updated just a few days ago. Sekai doesn't seem to use Steam for testing -- e.g. the Steam version of Yohjo Simulator was essentially patched out of the blue as Sekai's post-removal Steam Community announcement aside, there was no indication a patch was in the works -- so the general lack of app activity and low player count over the past few weeks (Steam Charts can't survey apps that are still private, so it's been collecting player data for only 19 days) don't necessarily point to anything.

Mordor was my personal GOTY when it came out

Hell. No.

Ruined the game.

If you jump over to the BST thread you can get mad max for 6 bucks.

I had a decent time with FC3 but towards the end it made me feel so empty that I swore off checklist open worlds for a while. Anything related to the narrative is pure, unfiltered ass. FC4 is literally FC3 so...
If you play a Far Cry go for Primal, its systems and hunting obsession work infinitely better in a no-tech setting.

Personally I've always found the JC series incredibly dull and tedious but it has its fans so YMMV.

Mordor is cool until you start seeing the cracks in its nemesis system which happens way too quickly, combat is the standard Arkham snoozefest except for some sweet skills you get too late.

Mad Max's got the same poor man's Arkham combat system, here it only makes up a relatively minor part of the game though, the fights are over faster than you can fall asleep so that's good. What makes the game stand out among its fellow checklist simulators is the focus on car traversal, customizing your personal vehicle and the really well-done, dynamic car combat, something that few games get right. Looks gorgeous and thanks to its phenomenal photo mode it rekts all the other options by default anyway.

Plus preordering the Monthly is likely the best deal you're gonna get on any of these save for JC2.

Ok folks thanks for the advice, I think I'll either wait a bit for mordor or pay early for mad max humble monthly.

You can look in the BST thread and see if anyone is selling their key for Mad Max for cheaper than the Humble Monthly price...unless you really want the bundle

Yeah I'm trying to avoid games that are about ticking boxes and collecting stuff that isn't fun to collect. Your thoughts are pretty close to what I think these games will feel to me, even though I haven't really played any of them.
Well I'm not in a hurry, got quite a backlog so I'll have close to a month to decide what to do with humble or if I'm going to pick mordor. Even though this month's was very good for me as I've got my eye on a lot of games but pick up only a few of them. But still I have so much in my plate I might skip that.

The most filmic PC game of the year...
Heh. Sounds like my whole experience with XCOM 2.

...except, oh, right! Looks like there's competition.
sounds like quantum break is not quite the little gem alan wake was

Alan Wake isn't any kind of gem, though. More like a broken artifact or something; flawed and imperfect, yet revered for reasons entirely unrelating to its current state.

man gta 5 for 33 on gmg is tempting

i feel like every time gta 5 is on sale it's like 5 usd lower but every time it's on sale i'm like 5 usd less interested

will wait, i'm probably one of the few people that love gta 4 but i like it because of its atmosphere and its "time capsule" element and i feel like that's missing in gta 5 even tho it might be a much better game

i'm weird

Well I guess even with QB the PC version is probably just an afterthought. We will see better PC versions once they stop being late ports.

At least in case of QB I couldn't care less either way and (among other issues) after the super slow download of Killer Instinct I'm not really looking forward to actually buy something on that store anytime soon.

jshackles

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I'm even weirder - I refuse to buy a non-Steam copy. And it seems like every time it's on sale on Steam (not often) it's way over my price range of what I consider acceptable for a game that came out a few years ago.

I bought the entire GTA catalog for like $12 back in 2012.

while the rest of the world is freaking out over tracer's butt we at league land are basking in the glory of man cleavage

idk about that, even tho the game's padded to hell for the most part i enjoyed the pacing of it and the story and characters and atmosphere in general, and specially the trademark remedy quirk

and i enjoyed the gameplay a lot, the driving feels like stripped out of another game (and it kinda was) but i liked the more weighty movement and the dodge mechanic and i just enjoyed the game in general

maybe gem's not the right word but i think it's a really good game that just shows that it used to be an open world thing

yes

hm

yeah

maybe when it's 28 :>

i think 20 bucks is like insta-buy range but it's also unreasonable to ask of a pretty celebrated game that's not that old

but boy would it be nice to see it at that price

and i kind of do, on nuuvem, but it's brazil only, you can't even buy it in south america

overall nuuvem has been having less and less games in general, it's pretty sucky

Remember that it's not a Steam copy (Rockstar Social Club client)
doesn't really matter to me, i'm running out of screenshot space on steam anyways

GTA5 is a game that was designed without ever considering fun at any point during its development. It's immersive, yes; lavishly, solidly, and expensively produced, yes; overflowing with content, yes; but fun... no, absolutely not. It went even farther down GTA4's bad road of 'realism' over everything, which makes it a chore to get through in even the best of circumstances.

Really is a pretty game, though.

Exact same thoughts.
