I make no pretensions that every post I make is on-point, but that the past 100 posts are (mostly) irrelevant nonsense is patently ridiculous. Reel it in, guys.

Or don't. But some posters got fed up circa last August for a reason.

So I should be able to knock out episode 1 of Life is Strange and Revelations 2 in what 4 hours?

After I dig my car out of snow tomorrow and get a new battery I just wanna play some games from my month long break

*I don't consider mobile real games, even when it's FF6. I need my buttons*

Yeah, no, I'm not turning it on again, whatever that is, it can't be good.

Wow, Origin is doing a sale where ME trilogy is 21$/28€... at the same time that it's 15$ on Amazon. Hell, all these sale prices are at least 30% and sometimes even 100% more expensive than the current one on Amazon. What are you doing, EA?

So I should be able to knock out episode 1 of Life is Strange and Revelations 2 in what 4 hours?

Don't know about Revelaitons 2, but Life is Strange depends on how much attention you pay to your surroundings and want to explore. It's probably going to be about 2 hours, though.

I believe Nvidia's next architecture, Volta, features HBM, stacked / cube-ram aswell as NVLink (which is a fucking exciting feature, mind)

My 780'll hold me over till then. And after the fuckload of problems I've had with Team Red, I'm never going back there. :p
What is NVLink? Sucks to hear you had bad experience with AMD. Hope AMD's cards are nowadays better. Prices are so good :/
Can't wait to see VR just bomb.
I'm expecting a niche market at most.
Don't think it will bomb. It won't become the standard, for sure but bomb? Nah.
Come on, every gamer from young age dreamt of stuff like this. Add on to this that the current unfinished versions are already impressively working well.

But I have to agree on one point. I see VR headsets to be used mainly for first-person and to an extent third-person games. Anything else classic 2D monitor gaming will prevail - even among VR owners imo.

Still I am excited. Let your inner child come out Jaw! :)
Apparently this is SteamVR by HTC

Very nice design. Like the Oculus Rift.

I am all for competition and choice (low-end solutions will come hopefully at some point too :p) but what is paramount imo is that the different vendors talk with each other and commit on standards which will be adopted by all vr vendors.

Nothing sucks more than "standards" which are not standard at all :/

Life is Strange ep. 1 alone is probably 2.5 hours, more if you want to explore every little nook and find all of the photo ops.

EDIT: Like zky-zky above me, it took me about 5 hours to get through but I tried to find absolutely everything I could.

Life is Strange was short of three hours for me with all photo spots found. I won't know about Revelations 2 until I play it later in the coming week, though I've heard two or so hours from some buddies.

Yeah, Rev2 is around 2 hours. Raid mode has dozens of hours in it.
I'm so glad that (technical issues aside) the game turned out so well. Such a nice surprise for RE fans. Unlike most people I had faith in it though.

I... am not a fan of HTC's track record when it comes to build quality.

HTC build quality (taking you at your word due to my lack of personal experience) + Valve's trademark slow response times = a recipe for a delicious stew. :p

Ok thanks for the heads up guys. Looks like I'll probably end up around the 2.5 mark. Since I'll be there just for the story and choices. Exploring and collectibles have never been something I really do when playing a game.

My inner child is a grump so until I see something really cool, Im going to remain pretty skeptical. I will say that I know at some point I'm going to end up with one though.

Yeah I will more than likely be playing Rev2 first out of my games. Squatting in the Rev2 OT, glad it sounds like it fixed all my issues I had with Rev1. Looks like I'll be in for a treat so long as I don't have any performance issues. Think I'll only be dabbling here and there for Raid mode until online coop is patched in.

The Nuuvem price was sweet as candy, but it's now relegated to my backlog :( Still have to finish up RE6 and Rev1, so by the time I get around to it all episodes should be out at least.

I must admit, I am here less and less simply because I find it harder to know what's going on. Of course, I like that SteamGAF threads go all over the place, but it has been going a bit to far of late that I simply don't have anything to contribute to conversation :/

2 days I'll be back. How much have you got left? I was serious that I will play with you and help you finish it. It's fun with a friend and I'm sure you're playing on normal. Plus you can then get to rev 2 sooner. Seems like it will be more fun to go with the cliff hangers on that one since the episodes are only a week apart.

exploring and collectibles is kinda all there is to that game

you can probably beat it super quick but kind of the point is to try and examine every object to get so that max comments on it and you get a little treat of her personality

collectibles are also kind of fun, they're not like flags or something but pictures of stuff you have to take which sometimes require you to do some time traveling so they have a bit of a light puzzle element to them

like i feel like not pacing yourself in this game is probably not properly "savoring" it?

not that i think it's too great of a game or anything

also zky-zky is a great nickname. i hope it sticks, tho i like zky-chan too.

But Jase, we have that other thread no one uses!

Shame considering it had potential. Too bad no one posts in it.

It should be perfect for FP horror and cockpit view racing games. Those would really benefit from the peripheral vision. Monitors/TVs are just too limited in this instance.

Definitely, those are a natural fit. But even then, 3rd person action games, platformers and such are all very viable, too. Controlling the camera with your head movement would be a really good fit, as far as I can tell. I'm really interested in Lucky's Tale, which looks to become a really good VR platformer.
I would play a character action and fighting game with that thing on.
I know, right!?

I've had two HTC products. One was my very first smartphone and lasted me... 4, 5? years. Then I swapped it out for an HTC One, which has superb build quality. And mind you, the last one didn't break, I just got a really, really good price on this one. :p

Can't really say to much without playing it so I'll just have to see how it goes when I start it here soon. If it can hook me I will examine and explore and what not. It just all depends. It's a bad play style but I rarely explore and such since I feel it's never worth the investment.

Hm. In Chrome I get the option to watch videos on youtube at 60FPS but in Firefox it only shows resolution, not framerate option.

Does anyone know if I have to flip a switch somewhere?

EA clearly misunderstands the whole "30% cut" thing.

Sad thing is, if that Trilogy was 100% complete with all DLC, I'd probably be tempted to buy it at $15, even just on Origin. Even though I'd probably never play them.

NVLink making it into consumer products is very doubtful as Intel and AMD would have to support it and new Mobos would have to be made with it in the firts place. Currently it's only slated for HPC.

What is NVLink? Sucks to hear you had bad experience with AMD. Hope AMD's cards are nowadays better. Prices are so good :/

i think it's fairly rewarding in life is strange since the game has pretty good personality (even if its writing is maybe not so great) so small nuggets of info on the characters is pretty nice

i think i'm the opposite to you in that i take forever with games and probably spend more time looking at crap than actually "playing", so for me it was pretty nice

the collectibles are also pretty non-intrusive and there's only like 10 of them, and i got all of them without looking too hard.

it's no murdered fucking soul suspect

started playing system shock 2... it's like a poor man's indie bioshock clone

we'll see how it goes

lol oh dam

So whats the must have non-soft-porn anime/bad rats/bullet hell game folk should get for their 500th game?
if you don't yet, you should buy analogue a hate story and its sequel, hate plus

it's anime but 100% not porn

Ironically, the move to Community resulted in a reduction in daily posts, which (in time) allowed me to once again read in full the pages that I'd missed over a prolonged period of absence, but for some reason tonight got rather over-the-top. The recent happenings with FootyGAF should serve as a very real warning that a thread being in the "death throws" as it nears replacement doesn't serve as an unrestricted licence.

Well FootyGAF has found a new home outside of GAF. Don't know if that's such a bad thing at this point.

Well, it's not like there was much news? Or if there's a big one or a rumor, then someone just makes a separate thread for it.

I'd say there was some news over the past month that was bump-worthy, but a combination of most regular posters making the move to here plus the general GAF rule of "New news = new thread" meant there was very little initiative.

Well FootyGAF has found a new home outside of GAF. Don't know if that's such a bad thing at this point.

Speaking of GAF offshoots, I found myself at one some time ago after doing a poor job of using Google to see if I'd been quoted recently. I signed up to say "Hi" (I'll give you one guess as to why I was ridiculed) and continue to keep an eye on the GAF thread there, posting once in a blue moon. A couple of GAF mods are semi-regulars, even.

You mean this thread could go away for good when we behave bad? Even after going to community?

How bad bad are we talking here?

Also, still haven't figured out how to watch 60FPS videos in Firefox which work in Chrome :/ Halp!

Truth be told, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. Kudos to those who contributed.

It actually went better than I expected it to for a while.

I think people were too afraid to post in there. That thread needed a little leeway to discuss things.

I feel like that's a pretty big part of why it failed, the other main reason being:

About the other thread, I'm really not going to repeat deal posts twice, and since this is the most active thread...

:p

The recent happenings with FootyGAF should serve as a very real warning that a thread being in the "death throws" as it nears replacement doesn't serve as an unrestricted licence.

The main difference is that we don't usually insult the mods like this.
