Wow, never understood the hype about Crysis until I just tried it. Game looks and plays like a freaking masterpiece.

Ignore the feeling you just got from playing Crysis and try to remember that it's just a fancy tech demo.

mine does this too. an evga 8800 gt superclocked, and I've always had this issue.

Rebooting fixes it, and I'm running with a core i7 920 oc'd to 3900mhz and 6gb of ram.

Its a gigabyte 4850OC which i think came with a zalman fan.
It's a pretty cheap looking fan but seems to do the job.

Hmm, that's probably my issue. I'm using the ASUS 4850. Guess I'll grab a better fan and give Crysis a shot.

I have the same card and and have the same results. 45c idle and around 60c - 65c under load.

Wow, Crysis runs surprisingly smooth in 1900 1200 with my 8800 GTS. On medium, of course.

Did you say you tried the 'create a 2nd account trick'? Create an account for a friend/relative and then gift from there. Or you can paypal a GAFFER (like me) the money and they'll buy it for you.


BTW: This talk about hot cards is kinda funny . . . sounds like 1950's hot rodders talking about their cars. Blowing out an engine seems more like a mechanical thing but it definitely is a problem with fast processors. They are just running them so fast and the internal layout geometry is so small that they can have thermal break down.

Actually, I'm not sure about the temps, but I know it goes into that 100% fan shit. I'm running an antec 900 with stock fans on low because they get too loud.

I am really pissed off right now. My debit card is now getting declined and my credit card (which I've never even used before on Steam) is getting declined too. I tried making a new account and gifting to myself and an 'unexpected error occurred'.

I contacted Steam Support and I hope they resolve this today or I am going to be angry.

My debit card was being declined and I noticed the expiration date on file for the card had mysteriously changed from 2012 to 2011. Maybe not such an easy fix for you.

It can also be driver sometimes though. I know mine were going nuts when it was still doing the opening movies for the companies so I started to control them manually and then a little bit later I put in new video drivers and it never did it again.

Edit: Fan isn't always the best way to tell. You should also look at temps to make sure it's not a driver issue.

Nah, that seems acceptable. Some run hotter than others but 100C+ is too high. Mine are always in the 80s somewhere in my case and haven't had any problems.

It depends upon where the Steam version of Crysis keeps its save files. If they both store their saves in My Documents/Crysis, then the Steam version should be able to use your current saves just fine. However, just as a precaution, back up your save files in a separate location before uninstalling the retail copy.

They place an authorization for the amount when you try to purchase something. Technically you haven't been charged for it until it posts.

Get Rome. M2 isn't that great without the expack since most of the mods require it and the base game is kinda meh. Rome includes the Barbarian expack, which is what most mods require on that side. I recommend checking out Europa Barbarorum if you end up getting R:TW.

God bless Steam, its absolutely the number 1 platform in gaming these days as far as I'm concerned, they're delivering more and more each day.
