i get 60 fps on super mario 3d world with fairly big hiccups sometimes and very slow loads, really impressive

The first color is Steam Inventory Helper, and since you have turned on continuous scrolling (a feature Inventory Helper doesn't have), everything after the jump is highlighted by Enhanced Steam

ahh i c

i forgot i even had that installed on chrome

I think you use tab for that. It just switches then. But for Mario Maker it's irrelevant because everything happens also on the gamepad anyway.

ahh cool

I'm honestly a little surprised that XCOM2 is up there, I don't remember people talking about it a lot, other than how badly it ran at launch.

It's superior to the original in pretty much every aspect, the technical issues did overshadow it a lot but still, great game.

Deserved.

So Dark Souls and Doom left, in that order.

Shame that neither Xanadu or Momodora made the top 10.

SDV robbed. This is an injustice.

The launch stuff stifled a lot of buzz around it, but XCOM 2's an excellent follow-up to XCOM: EU. The procedurally-generated levels, destructible environments, and timer pressure make it stand far above XCOM: EU.

It's just really fun, even at its most punishing.
I actually didn't enjoy the timer pressure. :D

I used a mod that made it so the timer didn't start ticking down until you were discovered which made it more bearable but still not fun for me.

(I had it at spot 2.)

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
This year's SteamGAF awards is very, very mainstream. With some exceptions this could be a PS4/Xbox game of the year list.

The combat in DDDA is a lot of fun if you're in a good level range for the opponent. If you massively outlevel/gear them, it's too easy, and on the other end, it's difficult if not impossible (in a less-than-fun way). It at times feels like an MMO with "level checks" rather than the open world adventure RPG it so desperately claims to be.

I really think it would be a better game if it minimised or eliminated the level aspect. The core pitch and gameplay are really good without it. It's just the balancing that really throws it out of whack.

This was my problem with it in the 7 hours I played on PS3.

I tried taking on a Chimera at a low level (i guess?) and I literally fought it continuously for 3 in-game days and nights and never got it down past half health. He could kill me in 2 hits or so, but I grinded him down, dodging as skillfully as I could. It was thrilling at first until I realized that the game just didn't give a shit how good I was.

It's one of the unspoken genius aspects of the Dark Souls games: Level Compression. A completely bottom level character with a bottom leveled weapon is only about 1/5 the damage output of a top level one. Most RPGs multiply that by 100.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

I'm actually more interested in the full list, rather than top-10 - just as i thought, it consists of games i already know enough about. I need to see if there are other good games i might have missed that aren't already on my wishlist :p

Don't worry, I'll post the full results when all is revealed.

More games but fewer voters means more dilution leading to the more widespread games being the most common vote getters. Plus a few of the big PC hits were early access. And I'd imagine I'm not the only one who didn't vote at all because I didn't play anything at all from this year because I've just reached the point where my existing library doesn't justify buying anything even close to full price.

See you lost me here. The combat feels really good, as does just the general movement and control of the character. I gelled with it almost instantly and it was a joy to do just about anything in that game.

I think LurkerPrime hit a good point about non-optimal encounters that echoes much of my feeling -

although optimal encounters are still just 'good' as opposed to 'great'. But, to each their own.

Play Dragon's Dogma with mouse and keyboard and then retract that statement.

NEVAR

that legitimately sounds heretical for an ARPG

but I might give it another spin with my Steam Controller down the line

Surprised Doom won by that wide of a margin.

i appreciate some of the things doom did, but i feel like it's a game who's biggest merit is not being something else

In the world we live, being "not disappointing" is about as high as praise gets.
