Volgarr the Viking is like something straight out of a Sega Genesis game, and not in a wink wink self-aware way. I suck at it, but I like it.

Aye, very much out of a SEGA Mega Drive game. Rastan Saga II to be specific. Though I find this to be a much better game.

The commands are simplified but the game is still a sidescroller beat em up.

There is a BONUS Vs Mode. I repeat BONUS but it seems it will be as popular as the story mode maybe more if people get into it.

As for my horns and lack of wings I simply wanted to be a unique snowflake.

As I've said before, the game seemingly has combos and cancels (and maybe more) so I'm already thinking it's got a better core "fighting" engine than any Smash I've played.

I really hope that part about only starting with a single character is easily bypassed. I stand by my statement that I will not be playing as anyone other than Ghost Monk.

Also, these comparisons to Smash are really putting me off...

edit: the only way it is smash like is you have a direction plus a button for each attack, w/ a normal move button and a special move button... it's a platforming brawler after all and they didnt want you to have to input SRK's every time four-five enemies are after you

And now they announced they wont have OR-support anymore and the OR-support was just meant for the E3-Demo...

As I've said before, the game seemingly has combos and cancels (and maybe more) so I'm already thinking it's got a better core "fighting" engine than any Smash I've played.

Being inspired doesnt automatically make it straight up smash as you noticed. If you check the OT you can see the game has cancels, combos and parry among other neat things. I think they say the Parry works kinda like SF so that would be neat. I see 15 hit combos in one video with Bauta and someone doing like 10-12 hits with Judith so there are cool things going on there. Also the 7 Minute video I think it makes clear things on what the game is and how it is different from Smash.

Atlus should do better PR so I shouldn't have to explain the game to people. LOL
