Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
If you're paying 80 bucks a month, you better get at least 500mbps

It's internet, tv, and phone and it's the best bang-for-buck package available in my area, so I begrudgingly pay these assholes.

Wait, I thought more people had pledged.
What're you doing, guys?

Right?!

I just won a cable code, I'll send it to you in the morning

The morning for morningbus. It's fitting.

It'd be hilarious that it hits your city but not your street.

I'd be in tears and exasperated, but that's not very likely as I live a block away from a police station and three blocks away from the biggest hospital in the city.

I'm looking forward to it obviously, though. This city has had to rely on Comcast only for years, so having Google Fiver implemented is a godsend.

I'm just now noticing what Dusk's avatar is.

What a horrible transmogrification!

I'm no where near any google fiber, but oddly enough I have a lot better service with Comcast than I ever did with Mediacom in the midwest.

God, Mediacom makes Comcast look like the best thing ever. Mediacom is such shit.

The US and telecom companies have agreed that infrastructure is not worthy of investment.

that's some really awful reasoning for them to come to that conclusion
it's crazy how the States is behind in terms of connectivity infrastructure compared to the developed Asian cities like Japan, South Korea and Singapore :/

shitty Portugal has fibre like everywhere now o_O

Houston doesn't have google fiber yet and ATT is bluffing about bringing gigabit internet in a reasonable timeframe but at least we have sunday amazon deliveries now!

Comcast isn't the worst, but they aren't even close to the best either. I haven't had a terrible experience with them, but there is the occasional bullshit and issues, and other things about them, but they've been the only internet provider in this city since forever basically. I'm a bit surprised the city is one of the first to get Google Fiber, but looking forward to it.

(Portland, Oregon, btw).

And yes, my avatar is graceful~

Don't you have those Amazon drones?

I'm surprised Google Fibre did not hit the rest of US yet.

Before the Australian government decided to just roll out FTTH itself it called for submissions from the private sector; I'm surprised that Google didn't try to get in on the action. It probably would have been successful.

I know. but it also means that there's some economies of scale to benefit from!
and it's crazy the amount of money the peeps in the States are paying for internet connection (and those bandwidth based plans T_T)

Can Google even start offering outside the US?

US infrastructure is terrible.

I'm paying approx 30 usd for TV + landline + mobile 4G (2gb) + 200mbps down 100mbps up

No bandwidth limits of course

The physical ownership of lines drives me nuts. People can get fios a block down from us but ATT owns the lines at our blocks, so we are stuck with them.

Hopefully people know what mbps is lol.

At my previous place here in Taiwan I was getting 100mbps (12 +/- mbs) down and 20 up which is like 7mbs with phone and tv for like 10 USD.

Currently place is lower but still get 8mbs down in steam and its free lol.

well a 100mbps fibre line gives you like 10 actual megs per sec correct, or close to it?

I know I get 9ish regulary on Steam

more worrying than speed is people that still have bandwith caps... like really? those still exist? the US is fucked up when it comes to internet man

how would you even watch EVO for example, or the international with caps, let alone download these huge games these days :/

Legally speaking there was nothing preventing Google from rolling out FTTH here through its Australian arm. The issue may have been that the telcomms industry here is rather strictly regulated, which in practice means that a Google-built nation-wide network would have been open-access and for Google to offer its own services it would have needed to set up a structurally separate company, but I doubt this was the barrier since, unlike Telstra, it's more interested in long-term profits than short-term windfalls.

It might almost be cheaper to have you download all my Steam stuff to an external Hard Drive and just mail it to me. :lol

probably :O
and it's good that there's not bandwidth-based plans anymore (at least for home broadband in Singapore)

---
the next thing we need is unlimited mobile broadband based on speeds... but lol. doubt that will happen anytime soon

Caps for the most part aren't a serious concern in the vast majority of the U.S. Either the cap is "soft" and very rarely enforced or a lot of places don't even meter it (yet). The problem is that generally the further away from large population centers you get, the more you get screwed both quality of service wise and price wise.

For me it was Blazblue and Street Fighter that were the most exciting. Injustice and Killer Instinct were pretty good too. Didn't care about Marvel that much though...

I didn't watch the others.

Now that EVO is over i can finally properly play games instead of afking in CSGO!

Unfortunately cost of living in SG is pretty high, and we get the short straw for multiplayer games and server stuff sometimes.

Will never forgive treyarch for not putting a single blops 2 server in SEA

Fill it with porn once Fiber comes.

That'd be a lot of porn. It's going to be filled up with my video recordings and music sample libraries in no time anyhow.

Also, your tag just changed in front of my eyes and does it right now when I refresh. Caught me off-guard for a sec.

Edit: Your tag changes when I hover my mouse over it. That's actually rather neat.
