And after that, we can finally have that annoying reminder to upgrade to Windows 10 go away! (^o^)

I have a feeling it'll be extended because Redstone, or possibly just forever to pull more #s in to Windows 10.

Beyond Earth without Rising Tide is still a mistake. Oh God.

Picked up some promising sci-fi books. Why haven't we gotten a game about a generation ship yet? You could probably create some interesting narratives or atmosphere around a ship decaying/changing over multiple generations, or generations growing less human over time

On that sci-fi note, saw some House of the Dying Sun gameplay online today and it's looking really slick. Love that smooth zoom in from warp to cockpit

yeah i bet it was the same in gta 4 but so far into 5 i'm getting pretty tired of how often you go into a mission thinking you're gonna get into a shootout or a car chase or a bank robbery or something but instead you end up driving a slow moving truck or pushing a crane and idk moving some containers?

and honestly i find myself liking this set of characters even less than 4's, and 4's were pretty bad. at least niko had like a somewhat intriguing story and a mysterious past and whatever. here they've already kind of blown the big mystery just a few hours in and there's not much of a driving force outside of these assholes being assholes because they're assholes

i hope it's as short as i've been told so i can get around playing the witcha dlc

GTA5 would be a lot more fun as a string of non-stop heists. Mostly because every escort mission is an extinction-level bummer.

Finally up to 5 games beat this year. Clearly a good showing after doing 52 last year.

Had my fun though replaying Dark Souls, as this time I decided to just be silly and see how far I could get with a dragon headed man, bubbles on my feet, and claws.

well i wanna see what it's got to offer

the one heist i played isn't as good as i hoped it'd be either

but yeah, whole game feels pretty damn boring

Well if you don't like it now, I think you won't like it ever. There are some cool missions in the middle, but overall I have been pretty disappointed.

Especially disappointed I was by how little the game actually uses the character switching mechanic.

Cool idea, but you're always either locked into playing a character or it doesn't make any difference at all which one you play. The tutorial promised far more than that mechanic could deliver.

some sales numbers:

Senran Kagura - 14K

I expected more, but I can also see why its so "low". I finished one school almost and while Neptunia actually seems they put some effort in, Senran Kagura feels so trashy/made out of a 1000$ budget, that it could be featured in those Simple 2000 series during the PS2 era.

Onechanbara Z2 - 3K (not sure, it could be too early for this)

Far too expensive. They should have launched the title with the 30% off as a base-price and then give the 30% instead of launching it with that high price, when you could actually get games like FFX/X-2, the Neptunia games or even Danganronpa for far cheaper.

Well, it's still in the top selling games. I expect it to reach the 30k range before first sales.

Is that good? I dont know.

I really think the game is a low-quality game. And while budget games like Neptunia somehow offer good gameplay, the gameplay of Senran Kagura is so simple, it actually feels like it started as a Doujin-game. The stages are also all kinda crappy.

some other random news

KT announcing a new game at E3 - “top secret” Omega Force game, not sure will it be on PC too or not
http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/omega_new/

VA-11 HALL-A for PC launches June 21, it's a cyberpunk bartender action game, whatever the hell that means. Will it be on steam? I don't know.

for SK, it could be good, it's not a huge seller, I don't think, no matter platform

Depends on the western sales. In Japan, Shinovi Versus sold like 150k on Vita. Dunno about west. Estival Versus sold like 36k on PS4 and 70k on Vita.
I mean, these aren't high budget games and the appeal of Steam is long term sales. I think people just got spoiled with Steamspy and just expect short term numbers. If we had Steamspy numbers back in 2010, a lot of today's successes could've been found underwhelming.
20 to 30k of a somewhat niche title priced at 30 dollars is kinda decent. Ports doesn't require much people on top of that.
For the people involved in the port, you'd need to look at the credits. Danganronpa for instance list more than 20 people, although I suspect they just included the whole Abstraction Games staff, which is about 23 employees.

Because they hate money :")

preorder Setsuna, if you wanna prove SE that you'd rather have games sooner than years later
common sense!

The game won't get a PC announcement if not six months after the console release when DLCs will be all released and the game will be 30€ on every store.
Than we'll see the game popping up on Steam to be sold after two days.
you are hella optimistic, I'd say at least a year later if not more, probably more

You're late :")
I did as much since the game was available for pre-order. Although, I kinda wished they did that with an actual release with sales potential. They're far more likely to sell FFXII on day one release at 40€ than Setsuna.

Yeah, maybe one year later, when the "FFXV Neo Ultimate 2.0" version will release for Skorpio and Neo, including all DLCs for 50€ and an exclusive optimization patch not available for common "first model of the next gen" pidgeons.
I expect this from SE.

FFXII HD looks exactly like PCSX2 with 5-6x internal rendering resolution.

Looking forward to the new soundtrack though, maybe Sakimoto will be able to use his 2 GB soundfont, instead of having to make do with 2 MB of SPU2 memory.

SE always is going overboard with announcements, now they have FF15, FF7R, FF12HD, KH3, World of FF, DQ11, Automata announced and that's only jp games on consoles. How about finishing some before starting new?

Visual Novels shouldnt be compared to normal games. Usually 5000 sold ones are a success.

When Clannad reached 10.000 it was considered a great success.

Besides that Sekai Project finances a lot of their VNs through KS. Root Double was also a KS.

I don't see how this is even an argument, you say it as if they don't want to sell more, when of course they want and Root Double barely sold anything so far, except for backers, so it really has a place to grow still, especially now when we know it's good and a word will spread.
Should I remind you that freaking Sakura sold almost 200K?

That was the first Sakura and is also priced differently. Look at the later Sakura games, who are sitting at about 15-20k.

I just think even for VN fans, the price is too high now and they rather wait for a sale. I mean I would consider myself a fan, but dont even have time to play most VNs or start VNs that take 50hours besides all the other games I am playing. I bought Root Double, but I think other people rather wait for a 50% sale.

My argument is that VNs dont actually need to sell well to make bank. Look at Mangagamer or JAST. They have been in the business for years now and still release games, even though I am sure some of their games are considered "flops" when you would compare them to "normal" games.

I don't think Franklin comes off as an asshole like the other two. He's definitely a lot better than Niko.

People should stop the Nekopara/Sakura comparisons for real. These are 10 dollars games at release. Which have been discounted to 50 to 80% off.

I don't see why we shouldn't, not like good VNs never get discounted, we are arguing a point what is considered good (possible, expected) sales, not at which prices.
I also agree that good VNs usually are too expensive at release.

If people can buy freaking Sakura and Nekopara for $10, I expect them to buy actual good VNs for at least twice that price.
ya, I know, people rather would spend their money on trash
it doesn't mean we can't point out error of their ways

Isnt Sakura Spirit usually 2$ during a sale and was in a lot of cheap bundles?

The latest one (not Dungeon) just sits 12k owners at 10$.

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?
I'm kinda tempted by Lucius II for two bucks.

But then again I've been activating all my old groupees keys and questioning every decision that's led up to this point.
