New Obsidian game sounds good. I'd be there day one no matter what they announced, to be honest, but the setting looks pretty interesting. Reminds me of the 'Midnight' setting for D&D.

Really enjoying FF XIII-2 now that I've sunk some time into it and opened up a bunch of areas. (Just got to the
"good" Academy future
.) I just wish some of the time alteration/diverging timelines came about from your interaction with the NPCs. (For example, i would've liked to have been able to just tell
Hope
, "Hey, I just got back from the future. You're going to come up with this brilliant idea of
creating a man-made fal'cie.
It's actually a fucking stupid idea that goes horribly wrong and you should really not do that," and poof, create a divergent timeline on the spot.) Glad I went back to it.

Compared to the IGN and developer walk through of Platinum Game' TMNT, here is 4 Game Informer writers doing it in co-op
https://youtu.be/akbMBZLl9uE

The games media and PlatinumGames are like oil and water with a dose of chalk and cheese on the side.

Still got a few reservations how the mission structure and overworld go together to accommodate multiplayer and if it will not start to wear thin after a while but boss fights looks the same hecticness you see from Platinum. Combat looks good but from what I understand you get the most out of the systems by comboing your attacks and specials with the other Turtles ala how you could in Anarchy Reigns.

Still it's the best looking Turtles game in... well it's the best looking Turtles game. Now just to wait for cheap retail copies to start springing up.

So essentially you're saying Obs are making an unofficial NWN3?

the final level is always kinda relieving cause at that point fuck keeping the squad alive

Not like it's easy to do that anyway on the final level :p
Prepare your dick

Deadbolt is pretty sweet, it's like a weird mash-up between Gunpoint/Ronin and Hotline Miami.

The Thick of It? I wonder if this is on Netflix. That clip made me want to watch it.

Gunpoint, Ronin and HM?

Take my money now!

Edit: I just realised my most played game in my steam profile is bloody Fallout 4 >_<
Wasn't even me, bout 45 hours of it are down to my brother when he came back visiting from uni

I'm torn between playing Rocket League on Steam or Rocket League on PS4. Heck, I'm torn between the soccer portion or the hockey one.

THIS GAME IS TEARING ME APART, LISA!

Shit like this is exactly why I try to avoid neogaf after a hyped game comes out, because now I want the game, but the steam sale is 3 months away, and now all I can think of is creating a squad, training them, researching stuff, building my base, kicking some alien butt, and using my super strats to win.

Damn you Salsa. Just damn you.
hey, look on the bright side, at least your PC manages to run it

mine would probably be set on fire if I even tried to start it

PC Gamer performance guide for Division

I hope for more in-depth articles like that, way better than even the NVIDIA guide
(sorry Andy, they at least acknowledge anything below 980 TI in their tests)

It's not and you must have skimmed it and missed this (seccond time I've posted this for you!).

You take the inference of what your specific GPU is capable of from said above chart and then each setting the Nvidia guide details shows you how much performance each setting cost in a raw FPS number that is applicable to your own hardware.

So as an example from the above chart using that CPU setup you can see that a 970 at every setting turned up @ 1920x1080 nets you an average of 41.4fps. So if you wanted to gain an extra 18.6fps on average back you'd look what settings you could turn down relative to their performance metrics in the guide. Of course this is your choice which ones you go for and you have a few combinations that might be suitable. Volumetric fog reduced down to high will net you ~6fps which is both described and visualised by the pictures show the difference is minimal, while going down to medium is a bit more visible so are the performance gains netting you ~10fps back.Spot shadowing dropped to high from ultra will gain you ~4fps but going lower isn't advised because of some issues with rendering. Spot shadow count from high to medium is another marginal difference for ~4fps and to really push you over the 60fps line you can drop shadows down to high from either HFTS or PCSS. If those numbers are right (don't know not having any issues blasting it myself) then there's room to knock a good 20-25fps back in your favour from just those few 'tweaks'.

The comparison pictures alone puts Nvidia's guides head and shoulders above everything else let alone giving you insight into what each effect is actually doing and their relative performance costs.

I've seen the graph, yeah. Does it (and that 970 recommendation for 1080p at the beginning) change the fact that the rest of the NVIDIA's article is written with 980 TI in mind in any way?

Is that really leagues better than PC Gamer's percentage impact of every single option (page 3 of the article)?
Is that better than graphs how presets work on a plethora of cards from PC Gamer's article? (page 2 of the article)?

Read my monstrous above edit and read the article like I have. Same architecture isn't going to have too much difference from card to card. Don't look at the end numbers but the difference between each setting. It matters not that HBAO+ costs ~56fps but that it's about 4-6 more than the Ultra setting. Take that information and use it to find the extra performance you need on your hardware.

Yes because there are raw numbers for each and every setting and not some wishy washy percentage scale which is close to useless the moment you factor in a different card. eg. 10% on a 970 is not 10% on a 980 let alone a Ti so you have to factor in more maths than needed by noting the difference as a raw number. What's more each setting has a cosponsoring picture and description of the difference either going into technical terms or subjective reasoning from someone who has a wealth of performance and analysis tools available to them that PC Gamer probably aren't aware even exist.

End of the day though if you feel your criticism is valid and you have trouble interpreting Nvidia's guides why not give Andy some feedback as what you feel would best represent something you can digest. Personally I see no problem with them and they make not only a lot of sense but are also informative and useful, unlike every other Tom, Dick and Harry that's trying their hand at it these days (save for Durante but he follows the same style when he gives a break down too). They're meant to give their customers and potential customers advice so I'm sure they'll be willing to listen to feedback. Well if they think they can get a GPU sale out of you :p

Still playing Spelunky while uninstalling other steam games before installing my brand new 850 evo ssd <3
What are you folks playing?

And let me ask something. Last time I bought something off Humble, I got charged 2 euros for currency conversion ( my card's currency is euros) . Is there any way to avoid that ?

That's weird, I've bought many times from Humble and they've never charged me for currency conversion. What do you use to pay for? I'm using PayPal, before checking out it says what the € equivalent is (no doubt a few cents exchange rate, but definitely not €2).

The forex fees may be due to your bank. This is why I use Paypal: forex fees are way lower than with my French bank.

That sounds like a bank charge for a foreign currency payment. Try using PayPal with your bank card.

I'm using my debit card directly. I saw an announcement from Humble saying that only (some) games on humble store have prices in other currencies and not bundles etc.
I should set up a paypal, it seems, been postponing it long enough.

While I'd love that, I'm doubt that's the case. Just that the whole 'the dark lord wins' is not uncommon as a setting theme in D&D.

You saying there's something wrong with Ron Jeremy and his teachings about giant blobs? You'd obviously get tagged as The Doggs Bollocks, so that'd be pretty nifty I think.

We have to find a way to balance out the fact that we are a bunch of very, very serious people playing a very, very, very, very, very, very, very important game, by giving out super cool street cred penis tags.

Just saw PSVR's price. No camera/controllers bundled will likely lead to traditional gamepad being the standard controller for game devs. Not a fan. If they made it PC compatible, it'd be a "cheap" alternative. Ah well.

Don't confuse D&D (the ruleset) with one of its settings. A game can be based on D&D and be nothing like another D&D-based game like NWN setting-wise. The popular setting used in NWN is called Forgotten Realms I believe, and it's standard fantasy fare with elves, dwarves, goblins, and so on. But there are like hundreds different settings published for various editions of D&D, some of them aren't even fantasy worlds, but instead steampunk, sci-fi, pseudo-historical, etc.
