I begin to think that Dusk Golem is secretly my niece. Surely, there can't be two persons so obsessed with horrors of all sorts. I just have some questions to ask, to be sure.
Dusk Golem, can you stand more than 15 minutes of any strategy game? And do you like Elder Scrolls? Could you kindly answer, to put my mind at ease?

on more serious note, Cities in Motion weren't even on the sale and now it's flash? That's not what I expected.

I feel like a good detective game or spy game with a good plot.

Some adventure elements would be good.

Any recommendations?

- WHAT YOU MIGHT PLAY IN MAY 2014 -
huge list

your list doesn't have 100% Orange Juice in it?!
I think, I can't be more disappointed in you than now, not possible
lol Tex Murphy

also what's Fantasy Grounds? It's very unclear from that particular pic.

i think my problem with this new age of horror games is that i wish they had better characters. watched the rev3games let's play of outcast and like been hearing awful things about that jessica chobot game and i'm sad they're screwing up the story part with weird aaa formulaic secret society shit.

i dunno i want a 3d horror game with lone survivor like story

session 9 i really liked, i kept asking all my friends who it was that recommended it (since the girl i knew that was in charge of feeding me horror movies left my film class) but could never find out who it was.

if the others are something along those lines that would be great

Horror games with good characters... Now as this is a Steam topic I'm going to try and keep it to Steam posts. I think, if you haven't already, you might enjoy Year Walk, Deadly Premonition (likely have played this I feel, but definitely worth mentioning and was one source of inspiration for Lone Survivor), Scratches: Director's Cut (if you don't mind point'n'click)... There's others, but some of them I debate with. Like I really like Alan Wake's characters, but how good they are subjectively is arguable. Or I would recommend Cryostasis, but that's no longer on Steam.

However, if you liked Lone Survivor I would keep your eye on Claire, which released on Steam this month for Early Access.

The others are different, but they're all very good films in their own rights and a few have elements that have certain similarities. And there's a ton more I could recommend, but I think a few of those are definitely worth checking out. Make sure if you decide to watch Tale of Two Sisters, Shutter, or Pulse to go with the original region versions as the American remakes of these films were all pretty bad.

Specifically on the character/Session 9 thing, I'd recommend Tale of Two Sisters and Shutter. Also just want to say Tale of Two Sisters has a beautiful soundtrack I'll mention as I was just thinking about it.

Damn guys....clean up your quotes a bit

I'm nearing the end of season 3 and find this incredibly accurate.

It was in before the cut ! But as it was already in my wishlist I thought it could be an older game now released on steam and it joined the already released games (Full Bore, Outlast DLC etc) and the fucking strange looking indies (Fearless Fantasy, I mean what...)
Now Fantasy Ground was kept just for the novelty of it really, it's not a game, just a software to help pen & paper rpg players game over the Internet). Not really needed but I couldn't cut all the minor stuff.

Okay after reading a bit about Corpse Party i have to say that the setting alone is the worst thing about it. A small girl with black hair is a ghost and kills everybody.

But the story/twists seem to be very interesting (Just read about the anime and watched a few scenes of it)

Seems to be very interesting.

If you haven't played Alpha Protocol then you need to get on it. It's recommended that you minmax pistols and stealth if you want to get passed some of the games balance issues, though.

It's a bit different than that. Spoiler:
There was a murder at the school several years ago where a man with mental disabilities killed four children, but the girl was the one responsible as she was raising him as a 'pet' and sort of made him do it. The girl with black hair doesn't actually try to kill you until the very end, what kills you in the game is much more interesting. One of the best things about Corpse Party are the many, many bad endings you can get, which all come in a variety of ways, some far more extensive than others. Some bad endings include unique gameplay sections even.

Don't really want to poke my nose not in my business, but I need to say that Year Walk is not about characters, not at all. Or maybe I understand what you want wrongly, who knows.

but ya, it's not exactly a new game

and well wasteland 2 and dead state
You mean any of them has been confirmed as a May release ? Don't think so but as I didn't follow PC gaming closely since March...

I'm glad that despite the quote issue (silly me, sorry) people seem to appreciate this little list. I adore stuff like that, feels like gamer porn. When the old next-gen hit, the PC was not in a particularly good place, but browsing Adrian Werner's blog was always such a pleasure. That's what I tried to do. Tried because it's a dirty and rushed job (still took hours).
Now to give my opinion on these releases... A lot of them will be included in the "when on sale" category, it's not a good period for me money-wise.

Day 1 - Transistor
Impulse buy candidate - Battleblock Theater
Unreasonable but will surely bite - Dynasty Warriors
Series I loved from my youth - Tex Murphy

The rest can wait as titles such as Wolfenstein and Watch Dogs will surely benefit from a good PC upgrade that I can't afford at the moment.

Age of Mythology YISSSSSSS

Bring me Rise of Nations and I'll put away my hex doll M$.

Rise of Nations is in limbo. While we don't know who picked up the IP during the 38 Studios auction, it wasn't Microsoft because said auction was almost half a year ago and the registry apps are as dead as ever, and according to the game's manual "portions" of it are owned by Microsoft. This is why RoN never appeared on Steam even when BHG was alive and it's the same impasse that the new owner now has to deal with.

A few bad ending examples with minimal spoilers:

You find an optional note and it tells you to not read all the notes. You then can look around to start finding them, and they tell you to stop reading them, until eventually you read the last one and...

There's a bad ending in the last chapter that goes in a completely different direction of the main game's storyline and goes on for about 60-90 minutes alone with completely different scenes and gameplay segments.

There's a lot of other bad endings that you sometimes have to work for, and some deliciously twisted bad endings.

Getting all the endings in a chapter unlocks a miniature chapter that reveals a bit more backstory on the game.

(But in earnest, I honestly suspect these to pop up on Steam eventually. I've been thinking of starting something to bring attention to the want for the games on Steam as I think a company like SEED would listen if people showed interest).

It'll pop up sometime this month, but no page yet.

Year Walk isn't long, but it's very good.

No Divinity: Original Sin? This list is incomplete.

Oh damn, did not realise so many games were coming out. DW8 I might get depending if it's the PS4 version or not, already have Tex and AoM, and The Forest DreadOut, Transister and Wolfenstien are all in the probably yes pile.

Can always try one of his older games, he's got several old small game projects. For horror games though he doesn't have too many, though he did make a Silent Hill 2 Demake, which is what inspired him to make Lone Survivor.

Though he is working on something right now, but he's the type where his game development projects are slow-going ons.

How recently did you play Lone Survivor? did you play after all the DC content was added? And if so, did you play the game a second time for the DC stuff (probably did but have to check)?

There's four levels, they're all rather radically different (both in looks and some level-unique mechanics).

Man, it's a shame the bundle is all the Sonic games. I just want the Genesis (1-2-3-CD-Spinball-&Knuckles) games, I don't care about the Kart racer or the series' nosedive after that era. :(

Just think of them as extras. I know some are picky with what's in their Library, but in the end also can weigh it in as more for less. However, I guarantee you Racing Transformed and Generations are good games that may surprise you.

Was just gifted Tabletop Simulator. Holy fuck, yes. Cards Against Humanity, Tanto Cuore, maybe Yu-Gi-Oh!, DnD, oh god, the possibilities are endless. Great social game.

OH WOW. I didn't know about Fantasy Grounds. Is this better/worse than NWN in table-top roleplaying? Probably better because it can do GURPS/D20/etc.?

Shame you can't "solitaire"/play-test campaigns by yourself since it requires two people (DM and a player) to do the campaign apparently.

It worked just fine. I was already tempted to get it, so coming on to see that I won was a nice surprise. Thanks for the giveaway!

You're welcome!

This has probably been posted, but I found it pretty accurate.

Bargain bins are the best bins, though. Like the Steam store, you can find gems in the most unlikely place, as well as piles of dogshit.

I see a ton of shit in both though.

Look what Playfire did to me:
achievementso8dt5.png

Didn't even want to play it, then I got one achievement, which would ruin my statistics, so I said: Ok, let's do this
LEEEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOOOOY JENKINSSSSSSSSS

In the end it was a pretty cool game. It even had a riddle you had to solve to "win the game". Also noticed, the game has unobtainable cards. Game is F2P and has no DLC, from reading the community hub I get that the dev didn't know about this F2P = no cards stuff.. :/

OH and the missing achievement is called "#yolo #swag #nbd" and you have to complete the game without dying... yeah... nope.

I feel compelled to quote this post from another thread because these games are fucking awesome.

Great games, you can get the first 4 games for $4 here, all Steamkeys (along with 4 other games)

For $3.99 you get Steam codes for:
- Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines
- Commandos: Beyond the Call of Duty
- Commandos 2: Men of Courage
- Commandos 3: Destination Berlin

Those games were so goddamn good, especially Commandos 2. I never played 3. Great price for some classic games.
