JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Which game are you referring to?

Area 51, Psi-Ops and The Suffering.

I'm not getting that from Enhanced Steam at all. Weird.

I checked another known Tages game, Dawn of Discovery, to make sure that ES feature was working - and sure enough, the Tages warning shows up there.

Anno 1404 and Dawn of Discovery are actually completely DRM-free these days.

Is JaseC still up? I've uninstalled Don Bradman's Cricket 14 Demo and it still shows in my library and shows up in my account as a 'Complimentary' license. I think he may have missed a free +1.

It's always been a demo (the app type, that is), so while it's weird that it's tied to your account, it doesn't count as a game.

When did Valve update the banner for early access?

A few days ago or so.

Edit: Missed out on the Alienware CoH2 MP giveaway. Oh well.

I thought my config is pretty good, but the two times I tried to downsample games using GeDoSaTo, my framerates took a serious hit (Dark Souls 2, Bound By Flame)...

Do I have to overclock my GPU/CPU to achieve those downsampling results or something?
I have a Nvidia GeForce 770 and an i5 3750k with 8gb of ram.

I remember playing Psi-Ops and just loving the novel, at the time, telekinesis and mayham you had with that ability. Picking up small objects and throwing them at enemies, trapping enemies into a single corridor by dropping a table on their one line path they used for A.I. pathfinding, or using dead bodies with the ragdoll physics to just whip at those still alive.

I would love to do all that again, though sadly not to many games continued on with that path and titles like The Force Unleashed felt half-hearted in that regard to me since it was more focused on selective set-pieces.

Well, I would rather have people trying the game out than not giving it a chance at all. Doesn't really matter if you end loving or hating it (well, I hope you get some kind of enjoyment out of it, but still), just glad to see people giving it a shot. Hopefully I'll be able to do the same thing with the next Steam game we're releasing later this year. And sorry for disrupting the thread with all of these codes, didn't want to start a new thread so I thought this was the best way (I'm kind of new at this).

Don't worry about it, conversation went on as normal in here and you gave plenty of people some good fun on Steam as is the purpose of the thread.

A shame we'll never get a sequel, specially considering
the cliff hanger ending.

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?

You'd probably get a more informed answer from the GeDoSaTo thread, but I'd try the methodical approach. Turn all anti aliasing off and slowly increment upwards from your desktop resolution and see when your frames start to tank.

apparently using the .ini to alter Killer is Dead's framerate alters the 2D animations and events to the point where QTEs and button mashing sequences have to be done twice as fast

I was thinking about this earlier today when Midway was briefly brought up. I think that part of the reason why I didn't like the Force Unleashed was because I had played Psi-Ops years before on my friend's PS2, and the Force Unleashed felt underwhelming in comparison. Psi-Ops just felt more ambitious than the game, honestly, and had more variety in experimentation.

Very generous of you. Thanks!

Psi-Ops, I remember that game. I tried a demo of it on the original Xbox a long time ago. I think I liked it, but for whatever reason, I never ended up getting it.

The laziness of console devs and their "we'll just hit 30 on the TV box of your choice", come to bite them in the ass when porting to PC with variable rates per box.
(Seriously people, we knew how to uncouple game logic from frame rate over a decade ago. How is this still a thing?)

I'm sure (I hope?) you've all talked about it when it came out earlier in the week, but Always Sometimes Monsters is one of the best games I've ever played in my life.

I'm not sure if it's the best, but it is great.

My main point of concern is going through the game again. I'm slightly concerned that this will end up like Heavy Rain, where some of the choices don't matter at all and it's more of the "feel of choice" rather than actual choices. One of the bigger flaws of Heavy Rain was that it was obvious which choices didn't change the outcome of the story at when you go back through the game.

I just played They Breathe. My playthrough took me exactly
29 minutes
(spoiled just in case someone doesn't want to know). I found the controls to be good, they felt responsive and I could always make the frog go wherever I wanted it to. It's also nice that the game doesn't give you any kind of hints about how to proceed, so you have to discover everything on your own, that's well implemented here since the mechanics are intuitive. Some things took me longer to discover than others, but I managed to do it all on my own.

What I didn't really like was that it started feeling repetitive after a while. Despite having some variety, the core of the game is the same thing all along, but the game is short enough that it isn't much of a problem (Assassin's Creed this is not, luckily).

So, did I like it? Yeah, you could say so, although I got a bit tired by the end. It's a weird game, that's for sure. Would I recommend it? This is a bit hard to answer, because I don't think this will suit everyone's tastes, this being so strange and cryptic at first. Still, it is probably worth a look just to see a game that does something different and original, provided that you know before getting in that this isn't your average title.

EDIT: I'm starting to have flashbacks of some recent not-so-nice events. I think I'm going to play some Angel of Darkness, lol

Bleh if the bad FoV, visual effects garbage cluttering the screen and lack of true 16:10 support wasn't bad enough, Syndicate also has slow tutorials. It also seemed to have two separate tutorials for the dart overlay mode.

Definitely not the best first impression and it's tracking similarly to RE6 at this point which is not a good sign.

But anyway, after 14+ years of being a NeoGAF member I wanted to give something back to the community.
So I've decided to give away 25 Steam codes for They Breathe in this thread (and 25 in the indie games thread, just to balance things out). Quote to reveal! And would be nice if you pointed out which code you've taken as well.

Nice giveaway!

And you had to say this right when I decided to hold off on buying it.

Btw, I think I have given up on getting my Dual Shock 4 to work on my PC. :(

Just finished my playthrough of They Breathe. I elected to buy it rather than take one of the free codes, since $2 is pretty cheap.

I thought it was good for a short indie game, the music and graphics contributed to an overall creepy atmosphere. Towards the end, when I finally figured out
what I was actually "fighting"
, I was suitably creeped out even more.

Having to figure out how to play the game was good too, everything was simple enough that you could muddle your way through for the most part. I only managed to
save 3 frogs
though -- for some reason it took me a while to catch on to the fact that I should have been
helping them
.

Anyway, I'd say it was worth $2. I don't know that I'll try to 100% the achievements, but I would like to play through a couple more times to try improving upon my first performance.

why do I keep getting this?

There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance.

Just caved and got Wolfenstein. Let the 40gb download begin. Luckily I have good ADSL by Australian standards but that's still only 21mbit :(

Would this Metro Redux bundle be worth it for PC users? I thought the games were arleady visually impressive. I own both of the original games but am yet to play one.

Your poor internet.

Also, just play the versions you have. They're fucking amazing.

I didn't see this posted earlier, so I'll post it now.

The current IndieGameStand deal is a game called Soul Gambler, an interactive graphic novel set in modern times inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust. It's currently on Greenlight and the dev has stated in the comments that they will provide keys to anyone that purchases the game on IndieGamesStand if it's makes it through Greenlight.

Apparently the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing 2 is even better than the first game. I was watching Kripp playing it yesterday. I wish i knew about the save transfer thing because i deleted the game, unless i can get it back from Steam Cloud.

Hey guys, I'm back. As you may or may not know, I behaved in a stupid and inappropriate way two weeks ago. I didn't really mean to say what I said the way I said it, but that doesn't change the fact that I said it anyway, and I want to apologize for that. I am sorry for writing that stupid post and attacking a fellow GAFfer instead of the argument they were making. I've shown I'm a terrible poster, and I can't change that. However, what I can and will do is try my best so it won't happen again in the future, because you don't deserve some fool like me coming here and posting stupid stuff. So yeah, I sincerely regret doing what I did, and not because of the ban (after all, 14 days isn't long), but because I finally exposed (to you and to myself) how ugly of a person I am deep inside, and I behave badly upon a community I respect and care so much about. I am sorry, guys, I really am.

Bullshit !
While I'm in no way questioning your ban, we all make mistakes, we all have or will say stupid things (especially on a message board), that doesn't make you a terrible poster to me.
You always have been a great member of our community in my book and I'm honestly happy to see you back.

Welcome back. Don't worry about the ban, everybody gets worn down from time to time and we have all made bad posts.

A break is often the very best thing and I'm sure you'll be back to being one of the best.
