There are enough points not to get it but I'd say more points to get it.
FC1 is basically Crysis with not so good visuals. But gameplay is ace. Especially the first 2/3.
FC2 still is one of the most immersive FPS. The map, the jungle, the weapons, the health system. Top notch stuff.
FC3 is mindless fun. Beautiful vistas, actual wildlife that manages to make the world feel alive, tons of customization.
Blood Dragon is a dream game for all 80s nostalgics.

Oh well, maybe we'll get those games someday, as long as there's no real reason behind their absence. The general trend seems to be shifting towards releasing those older games on Steam, we even got RE4 after all. I'm good with playing it on the PS2 though, you might call me crazy but it didn't mind how it looked. Having it on Steam on top of that certainly wouldn't hurt though.

I mean, I don't mind F2P games so I'm not opposed to them appearing on my recommended list, but it is extremely annoying when F2P are the only games that appear on my list.

Granted, I haven't played the game since 2008/2009, but despite its faults I'd say I enjoyed Far Cry 2 more than 3 and Blood Dragon (I've never spent much time with the original). I tried playing through the PC version before my upgrade in 2012, however my poor ol' 3.2GHz C2D couldn't quite keep up at max settings and I haven't really touched it since.

I tried doing the thingy where you explore a list and you select "wishlist, follow, uninterested" but sometimes none of those apply.
Some games I may buy one day on sale, but I wouldn't follow or favourite them.
So I just skip to next. Which I guess is the same as "no opinion." At least I hope that's how it's being recorded.

I played Bioshock Infinite for the past hour, turned it off and now I have 5 invites from people I've never seen before:
Anyone recognize them? I ask because I've only friended GAF people and real-life friends, really.
I tend to get about 2-3 random invites a week, I keep to a few rules
- If your profile is private and I don't recognise the name, block.
- Private and Level 0, scammer.
- Public profile, but very low level, very few games, mostly F2P or freebies, scammer or begger.
- Member of the Gaf group, Add!
- Has paid games, decent level, maybe 8+, profile doesn't look like a terrible myspace page, add.

I would love to check out SC: Blacklist, FC3: Blood Dragon. Maybe The Division and Rainbow Six as well. Loved every Rainbow Six to date, even Vegas, but not sure I want to put up with uPlay or modern Ubisoft.
Luckily for me I'll never have to waste a cent on any of those games

Started playing Valkyria Chronicles/XCOM: Anime Unknown, and I'm really enjoying it so far! It's super weird seeing the PS3 save system on PC though.
Well, here's a super duper scientific method of testing out the "offline fix" for ac:u in one early scene, I'm not too far into the game so I can't really test other places. 1080p, borderless, high preset except AA off.

Can't say I see much difference. In both the framerate hovers a bit above 30 but hitches pretty often. Maybe it's different in Paris because it checks companion app chests and whatever. Dunno. Take it with a grain or two of salt I guess.

I should clarify that my problem is not with the discoverability list, that's working fine for the most part, although I think it's rather narrow in the selection of genres it shows me (FPS, RPG, Strategy) - actually scratch that, it's not working quite as intended since I want to widen the net of genres it shows me and I don't know how.
I was talking about the new releases/recommended games slider at the top of the front page. It's only showing me F2P games as recommended.
So there's no way to customize the stuff it shows you? You just have to rely on the store page algorithms?
I would buy the FarCry Collection that it's on sale, mainly for FC3 and Blood Dragon, but Uplay is a big no no for me...

UPLAY has never given me an issue. The worst thing I can say about it is that it exists.
I heard that some people have problems with saves and stuff. Also, another program running in the background is annoying.
I like how the game claims that it requires access to Uplay if your connection drops mid-game:
It's fairly damning evidence that Ubi was experimenting with always-online DRM yet again but forgot to change the error message to reflect the fact that only certain elements require an active connection to the Uplay service.

Surprised by how much I'm enjoying Saints Row IV. I never could get into the previous three, but this one really works for me. Unlike the other games, I think it's very well-written and toes the line effectively between clever, relatively subtle humor and a broader, more over-the-top style, and the science fiction setting gives it a lot of ripe material to poke fun at.
The mobility powers in the vein of Hulk: UD and Prototype are also a treat, though they're odd in that they make using land vehicles (which there's full customization for) largely superfluous. Would have liked to see them go a bit crazier in vehicle designs, and the setting would have allowed it.
