I was writing this down in anticipation of an eventual runthrough when I upgrade my rig, and I'm collating a lot of content because I want to build my own website in the near future and post articles under the banner "A Modder's Guide To..."

Hope this helps.

I have a task for someone worthy. Im not being lazy...well, not just that, but im a noob and I dont really know about these things. So...

What would be a list of good mods to use on Skyrim to make it look all pretty and, lets face, sometimes like a different game, WHILE still maintaining a good frame rate. I want it to be playable. Thinking of doing a new run with mods. Feel free to ignore this request if its too daunting, when I look at Skyrim mods, I stare at them for a minute and then think "yeeeeeeeeah...I dont...what?"

Who is the Skyrim expert? Theres a cookie in it for you

It's been around a year since I last delved into Skyrim modding, but I've always just browsed Nexus Mod Manager and this list. I didn't get into any ENB or anything but planty of texture/lighting/mesh mods and could maintain a pretty solid 60 on a 7770

I usually handpick about 30-40 mods form Nexus's top 100 of all time and add my own personal tastes from there.

But Skyrim Gems is rapidly becoming a very comprehensive list of necessaries with explanations on what each does to improve with little conflict. So I usually use it for references. It is perfectly alright to follow it by the letter too.

Lover's Lab is more of a mess of mods but it comes with the best adult stuff that Nexus is too chicken to show. Be warned though, some of them are so questionable that you can't play Skyrim in front of anyone.

crazy 2 questions:

-do I need all the DLC for these mods to work?

and

-am I blind or theres no graphic mods in that list?

of course you would link that

I believe you need all the DLC just for consistency's sake.

Also, no graphics mods. Personally, I'm not big on them. I focused on mods that would compliment the game without looking too out-of-place or ridiculous from a lore standpoint.

Talking about horror, I can't play Alien Isolation for long sessions, it's just too scary for me, well, more than scary I'd say tense, damn, that game is tense.

I would start w/ Skyrim 2K HD Texture mod & SMIM. From there you can add water, flora, blood, and climate mods.
Oh! and Sky UI is a must must must have

I had to do 2 batches of laundry the past 2 days. I ran out of underwears while playing The Evil Within. That game is creepy and scary man.

I'm interested in the answer to this too. I see some Skyrim shots from Japanese people sometimes and it looks all so pretty and I have no clue what kind of mods they use. Last one I saw was this recently:

Why wouldn't I? How else can you get a full harem with the best female models? Nexus never gets that stuff. It's also the only place you can get links to the Japanese scene of Skyrim modding. Their quality is through the roof! So much children mods there. Want Loli armor versions? It's got it. Want Loli followers? it's got it. Want Loli underwear? Its definitely got it.

I don't mind using a mod like that but I wish the eyes weren't so anime looking. It kinda take the experience out of playing a Western RPG.

But it sure look gorgeous.

i'd for sure be a lot more into the elder scrolls series if everything was anime-like

at least it'd remind me something i actually like <3

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?
You can get pretty far with making Skyrim look all kinds of pretty with just downsamping and various ENB configs. Not too hard on a 970 either, I imagine.

There's a ton of hi-res texture mods for virtually every aspect of the game, and all sorts of guides and suggestions about which ones to use and how to combine them. I'd recommend restraint when trying those out, as they'll gobble up VRAM quick and your perfomance will go to crap. See how one treats your frame rate before installing another, rather installing all of them at once. Like I did.

For Japanese mods, try Dragonporn. Which doesn't actually have any porn on it. There's tags on the right hand side to find specific content, and there's links to other Skyrim blogs on the bottom of the page.

Dragonporn <= Japan and their pun.

More like review sites for mods, usually redirect to nexus or steam. They have pretty good taste.

Can someone help me? Sometimes starting games up over HDMI results in games being displayed in the lower right corner of my TV and hugely blown up, can't even see menus.

Is this a common thing?

Someone at work said there is a weekend sale on Steam. Something about 10 free games. He said he saw it on IGN which is blocked at work so I can't find out. Is this true or am I being overhyped for a mocking? Also is it US only or UK to :)

This may be a dumb question but ever since the redesign I don't see the publisher or w/e sales anymore.

Usually every monday there would be a week long sale with dozens of games on sale from usually one publisher/developer. Now all I see are daily deals, midweek madness and weekend deals.

Anyone know where they disappeared to?

A great upgrade. Took afew tries to get SLI to be detected.

Kind of really annoyed my 'optional' Northbridge fan has stopped working since installing the new GPUs (not blaming them). IOH temps are now 10c higher sigh. Looks like ill have to figure out how to fix it tomorrow or the weekend.

GG ASUS. Your rampage iii extreme black has shitty ass IOH temps.

Enjoy your free weekends :)
