Can an SSD be installed on a console?

It does speed up the loading, but not by any significant margin. CPU constrained.

He's not wrong. I could probably fit a whole game of Super Hexagon into some load times. Maybe even two games, because I'm terrible at that game.

If I'm not desktop to playing a game in <5 seconds I start to get frustrated.

I'm trying to relax and have fun, not stare at spinning icons.

I have an SSD and I still could fill several Spelunky runs in one load time

I just had an interesting revelation while reading a thread about terrible loading times on gaming side.

Over the course of this generation, a PC user with an SSD will likely play 3-4 games during the sum of the loading times of the average console user.

And the PC user will also play 10 more games during the time which people who play games on several platforms (like myself!) will spend to decide what, how and when to play.

I got a hybrid in my PS4, best of both worlds cost and size-wise.

Playing through The Beginner's Guide; any impression I post I feel will be a spoiler, unfortunately. Don't go in expecting a game game, like at all.

I don't get exactly why everyone gets wet about X or Y game being the biggest open world game when most open world games end up with tons of MMO filler side quest that get boring as fuck in single player games.

Agreed, hearing about x game being x big does nothing for me.

If anything, I'd be more excited to hear JC3 had a smaller world than JC2. JC2 was too full of filler and copy pasta.

Give me a well knitted game that lasts 10-20 hours that has replay value and unlockables over an extremely open world game that looks pretty but might feel empty or full of repetition. I have yet to finish one of these latest open world games because I get bored pretty quickly of them since there is not enough gameplay variety to keep things fresh for the full ride as a solo game.

Yeah and how I have said numerous times. Didn't help that it had no real story mode in a sense. There were 5 main missions and the rest was "Hey just do stuff to buy time and build chaos".

Completely agree. It's why when we had talked about it earlier, that I don't have very long games on my steam most played list. I don't get enjoyment out of side content that isn't worthwhile.

Long loading times, long install times, long download times.

I have a bunch of platforms as well, I will say that having a backlog that goes back 20 years or more on one platform makes for some serious choice paralysis.

I only keep my os, tf2 and csgo on my sssd

I have a relatively small SSD, but it is so simple and easy to move things I just move whatever I am playing.

Currently, CSGO, MGSV, and Kerbal are all residing on my SSD.

Long loading times, long install times, long download times.

Same here. Also if you make an open world game give me visual variety cause most of these open world games for most of the part goes on the generic direction or realism which bores me fast. Also the fact that tons of the enemies still get repeated all over the areas with color swaps it doesn't do much to me since they still make the same attacks with just some color changes to the movesets.

Got to listen to Sid Meier and several other video game professionals give a talk at the Baltimore Museum of industry tonight. it was very cool. One of the topics the cover was how much steam revolutionize Firaxis distribution chain. They talked about how they would basically call around the country trying to gauge interest to determine how many units to produce and sometimes the difference between hit and failure was misjudging production numbers.

Afterwards, got a picture with him and three of my kids.

That's badass as fuck.

Finished the Broforce TwitchCon demo. Pretty good. Doesn't change much (refined title screen, new announcer cues, new intros and five reskinned character portraits), but it was very fun. It has the first two sets of stages before it ends.

I have exactly one game in the Paradox sale (Magika). I guess that says something about how I feel about strategy games.

After taking many hours of trial and error I got all mods working now without any visual glitches.
Yes, it was a hassle but after seeing the final result it was absolutely worth it. The lighting, atmosphere, shadows, light shafts, detail. It's seriously like playing a legit great remaster of GTAIV.

At one point I learned about Nvidia cards having access to MFAA so I disabled SweetFX's SMAA solution. It does look significantly clean in IQ with it and has a felt zero impact on framerate, wow!

The real jawdropping scenes are definitely the nicely detailed buildings combined with the very sweet new lighting.

A big compliment to the modders who made some really realistic looking clouds and animations.

Oh good I can finally play the Batman season pass content. I wish they had released it regardless of the patch state since I didn't really have serious issues with the main game.
