Guys, I'm building my first city in Cities: Skylines. New Copenhagen, and it's not going too well. I barely built anything and I already ran out of money and so I can't build anymore water pipes or electrical grid, so I guess that's that, and I have to start over with a new city, since I can't take a bank loan.

Do you have any beginner tips, for someone who ran out of money mere minutes into the game?

There's an OT for this game, but looking at that screen - I would just say start smaller.

When I first got this game I restarted lots of times definitely. There's no tutorials so you're learning as you go.

I'm toying with the idea of playing Overcooked in local coop but... I'm using DS4Windows and only have one PS4 pad.
Does DS4W handle PS3 pads ?
Can DS4W coexist with an old 360 controller ?

You can't design your perfect city from the start, you have to be inefficient in your early design to be efficient with the money you have.

Make your business/residential/commercial relatively concentrated, saving money on roads, pipes, etc. This also makes it easier for your services (schools, parks, fire, etc) to cover those areas later.

Thank you, maybe I'm paranoid but I didn't really want to mix scarlet and ds4windows. If the 360 pad works then it's settled.

I don't have an actual x360 pad, but I've used DS4 (with DS4Windows), WiiU Pro pad (with Mayflash adapter set to XInput) and Logitech F310 (in XInput mode) at the same time with no problems to speak of.

Yeah that does look really nice.

I'm 100% on board provided they've cleaned up the clunky rouge-lite gameplay from Sea. It was a complete barrier for me, making the game feel pretty unenjoyable.

Pipes can stretch, roads can't. You will notice the latter is very expensive. You can always bulldoze later and make the city more efficient when you have more money.

Feel free to play around with the budget sliders in the early game as well, since your city is smaller you don't need 100% of your power plants output so drop that slider way down. If you start getting power outages, you can bump it back up and it will correct pretty quickly. If you hover over the power icon in the menus it will show how much power your city requires.

This is how I generally design my starter city, and reflects how real city designers would design an efficient city. You can actually start the 6 lane and 4 lane feeder roads as 2 lane since your city is smaller to save even more money, then easily upgrade down the line.

I dunno, if they scaled it back and made it more focused, they could pull it off. It was the choices and story that made Alpha Protocol interesting.

i think voiceacting, dynamic camera work and cutscenes are integral to alpha protocol
