Actually. She joins today for the US fans. And tomorrow for the EU fans. ;).

Haven't played Skullgirls for a long time :/

You know what developers should do when they put an update on Steam?

Post the release notes.

Come on, how hard can it be.

If I follow a game on Steam, this is the stuff I want. Payday 2 exemplifies everything I hate currently. Their feed of activity and popups are just a constant push of their dlc, with announcements every 7 or 8 hours for the same fucking thing every time. I just had to bail on it. Changelogs and meaningful updates once a big change occurs such as sequel or content (so rare notices) would be perfect and I would be more inclined to follow and look it up now and then.

I would host SkullGAF lobbies and streams, but no one wants to play anymore. At least SteamGAF still plays SF4 :)

Hmm, with all this talk about Payday 2 I could see myself trying the first one. For the plot. Alone. Forever alone. Still haven't played L4D2 too...

Payday 1 will be free on Oct 18 if you want to try but If you just want to experience the plot alone, don't bother. I wouldn't call it an after thought but it's not a priority either. There are heists where one character will sound completely different depending on the line because they mixing an old take on a character with the new version. Also playing with AI sucks since they do nothing but shoot enemies. Just play with randoms if you can't find people. It's how I've primarily played L4D1/2 and Payday 2.

I fear the answer to this question but... harder than Manus or Black Dragon ? :-/

I didn't fight Black Dragon (I"m assuming you mean Kalameet here) but I've found a few of the bosses harder than Manus yes. But again I feel much of that is down to how ineffective my build became in the DLC compared to the main game; I found myself summoning for help alot more, whereas I never bothered with that in Dark Souls 1 or 2 much at all.

i'm never ever going to buy a game for that price unless it's space engine meets starbound meets mount & blade meets vampire the masquerade meets deadly premonition meets killing floor meets dark souls meets metal gear solid

Animal Crossing is a great little game.

AssCreed is ass.

Anyway, the GB QuickLook of Mordor really impressed me. The dynamic mechanics are quite nice, and the world interactivity is quite good for this sort of game. I went from not interested at all to mildly interested, and now I've crossed over the line into "probably getting sometime".

Anyone has recommendations for conquest games? I want to have a map with different areas and I want to conquer them one by one. This can be a risk-like game, something deeper like the Total War games or even something like Saints Row IV. I just want to conquer shit.

Games I already have: Risk: Factions, Total War Games, Divinity: Dragon Commander, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, Crusader Kings 2.

Do you have San Andreas yet?

I haven't played it but reviews are good, so it's worth the price for sure.

I gave it a try recently. It has a pretty unique setting and theme for an action / tower defense game. The whole northern wilds / lumberjack hero theme hasn't really been done before to my knowledge. However I found that I lost interest pretty quickly. This is obviously a matter of taste, but I consider stuff like attack animations, hit reactions, and the general feel of combat to be of high importance in an TD action game. In something like Orcs Must Die 2 it's really freaking satisfying to crunch up a row or orcs with a well placed trap, or to blast a bunch of them with one ability or another. Sang-froid was terrible at this in my opinion, just running back and forth across a very stark map, to have really limp feeling encounters with a few only moderately well animated wolves. Had some neat ideas with the planning for each night's battles, but when the actual meat and potatoes was so unsatisfying I lost any desire to retry battles, which is usually a key part of TD games.

An interesting take on the tower defense genre, by the way I experienced a few annoying glitches and I found it to be extremely linear, anyhow at that price you may try it out if you're into TD games.

Thanks! I decided to give it a try. Even if it's only a few hours of fun I think it's a fair deal :D I won't have the time to try it out today, but I'm looking forward to it :)

Salsa always endorsed 3DS though, not a new thing :p

Ugh. I recently had trouble with my 3DSXL. I got it just over two years ago, and today the circle pad breaks off the analog stick. The stick still works, but the pad she's-a-broke. (I wasn't even playing the Smash Bros demo, either! I heard a few people broke their circle pads after playing the demo, and now I'm wondering if it's just a time-based thing.)

But hey, I got a 3 year warranty, so I figure I'll just go in, they'll fix it and if they can't, they'll replace it and we can do a system transfer in-store.

nope.avi

My warranty is only for replacement and only if I call their toll-free number. Then they'll give me either a replacement or a gift card after I send the old one back. I explained how that was unacceptable considering I had games and such I wanted to transfer. After some back and forth they offered to sell me a second system at half price, I can do the transfer, then call and send in my source 3ds for a refund gift card. So here I sit with two 3DSXLs, fretting over minor details about what system transfer does and doesn't transfer (see stupid gaming questions thread.)

It's a great system but yeesh.

It transfers everything. System Transfer transfers the "system" from your old 3DS to your new. That means your NNID, your purchase history, your save files, your pictures, your folders, and even how you have your icons arranged on the desktop. It then removes your "system" from the old 3DS, resetting it to a blank OS image as if fresh from the factory.

Nuuvem is bringing the pain in terms of prices. SoM for 28 is fantastic.

It doesn't mention anything about possible region-lock issues with purchasing from the States. Safe?

Now that's an ugly dude, but the image looks clean imo.

Rise of Nations: Extended Edition or Wargame: Airland Battle / Wargame: Red Dragon.

These all have turn-based strategic campaign maps, with conflict being resolved through RTS battles. E.g. (from Airland Battle):

Damn, I keep dying on this one Orc in Shadow of Mordor and he just keeps on getting stronger, immune to Stealth, Ranged and regular Attacks... he has weakness to those beasts but he can also kill them easily.XD

Just when I'm going to start State of Decay, the Payday 2 DLC comes out.

dammit.

Hey don't knock it, I wish I could be committed to one game. Instead of the flousie that I am peddling my wares to what ever I think is the prettiest at that brief moment in time before I move onto the next one.

Shadows of Mordor is really neat so far, was fighting a captain when two others showed up and 3 minutes into that fight a pack of worg like things showed up and started wrecking havok. Feels a lot more dynamic than I was expecting.
