Anyone having issues with Steam declining the transactions? I tried purchasing from the US and AU store via my credit card but each time the transaction is declined.

I even tried paypal but each time I finalize the paypal transaction and get sent back to the steam store page it asks me to launch paypal again????

Where are you from? I don't think you can just buy from the US store if you're from Europe for example.

UGH! I bought Transformers and gifted to a friend for the sole purpose of playing today co-op while we were both off and they run out of keys. That sucks.

I am from Australia and was using a VPN that has worked perfectly before. I tried purchasing directly from the Australian steam store as Assassins Creed was the same price as the US store but still unable to buy anything :(

Mainly wanted Transformers and Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition

So I just got a call from my credit card company saying that there have been purchases on my account that I haven't done. I just got my card (and it's on a family account so it might not have been me), but the only thing I've used it on so far is the Steam sale, I got Darksiders and Super Meat Boy. They are in my library and everything so I don't think there is anyway that it was a phishing website or anything. Has anyone else had problems with this on Steam, because my dad was immediately wary of it when he saw I made purchases on it.

I had this happen with Test Drive Unlimited 2. Steam got it fixed for me and many others in about a day.

Can't you get account bans for using VPN to bypass pricing?

Why don't you just do gifting?

No one else has ever had problems with cards related to Steam being compromised. Is it possible that your computer is compromised?

I've never had such problems.

Did you find out what the charges were? Are you sure there really are charges that you didn't make and not just charges that the Bank thinks may be ones you didn't make?

Steam sales have a tendency to set off fraud alerts 9when a fraud did not occur) because they are a bunch of little charges to a single internet web site.

Depends. Do you play TF2 or own Battlefield BC2? If the answer is yes then hell no. If the answer is no then use your hard drive space on installing TF2 instead. Will just make it easier on you playing MoH MP for 20 minutes and then deleting it never to be seen again.
:lol

But so true. BTW, I think MoH was worth the money for the SP campaign. It is short but reasonably well done. I would have felt bad paying full price for it but I'll certainly pay a heavily discounted price for a well-done albeit short SP campaign.

Not sure about the banning but I would love to get someone to gift me DA: O and Tranformers and I could paypal straight away as well ;)

Lead and Gold - 4 Pack
Tropico 3 Gold
Magika
GTA Collection
Plants Vs Zombies

I hope you're ready for a couple awful games. My friend gave 2 to me when it was $5 so we could play and after clearing the first 2 stages I can't get him to finish it with me for the achievements because of how bad it was.

Then again I don't really want to finish it either...

So they patched out the awful DRM on AC2. Tempting to get the PC versions of all 3 from Steam and sell my PS3 copies.

Talk me out of it Gaf!

Don't do it, bro.

Just do it. The games look exponentially better on PC.

Then again... Don't do it if you're not really going to replay them =P

I reckon get the AC games on PC. The graphics will look a whole lot better and for $13 for the first two games, you can't really go gone

So, I already own vanilla DA:O, but I've barely played it. Do I shell out for Ultimate? I'm agonizing over $10, here. Aargh.

Aargh. $10. Who was I to resist?

Curse you, computer gaming deities.

I really want Assassin's Creed 1, only to see the difference between the PS3 version that I have. Also, I didn't finish it and would like to play a better version.

Question is, is it a good port?
Yeah it's fantastic. They added a bunch of new mission types, it runs well on modern hardware, it looks stunning, it can be played with pad or MKB, and you actually have a decent number of options to tweak.

I played through them both co-op with a buddy and whilst they're not incredible games we'll play time and time again, we really enjoyed blasting through them both - especially the second one, which comes SO CLOSE to being brilliant - if only they could refine it and make it all feel a little tighter. The multiplayer on 2 was also an absolutely brilliant idea on paper, but it's pretty buggy feeling and dead already anyway which is a shame. Can't imagine it's worth it for the single player, though.

If anyone wants a co-op buddy for either of them, I'll play through 'em again with somebody?

Yes, if they catch you circumventing that way, you'll get banned.

If it makes you feel any better, I also bought it after owning the deluxe versions of DA:O and Awakening on Steam. I couldn't resist the cheap price for all the DLC, some of which I even already owned on the 360 version.

I'm considering buying Defense Grid but I already have Revenge of the Titans from the Humble Indie Bundle which I have never even played. I guess the smart option is to not purchase.

You really should get it if you have any love for the genre at all. It is hands down the most polished tower defense game available. It even has a level they added in the Potato ARG with GlaDos from Portal berating your tower building prowess(which isn't in the 360 version). It's worth the $2.50 for that level alone.

I've not really played much of Tower Defense games at all. Which of Defense Grid and Revenge of the Titans would be better for a player new to the genre?

Oookay, my big first purchase in this sale - Assasins Creed Collection. I have to get into it at one point, right?

Well I'll mostly play it in single player, but it's good to have a coop game in handy when a friend visits.

I would have probably wasted those 10 bucks in other stuff anyways :(

I hope I like it

Long rant incoming, watch out!

Please buy more Men of War, the game is soooo awesome when you just take your time, plot out how and where you want your troops to stand, what kind of ammo you want to use, what kind of grenades, and you can even take direct control and shoot exactly where you want.

The graphics are beautiful even on low settings, and it's one of those strategy games that really manages to pull off the minutiae if that makes any sense. It has minor details everywhere.

For example you really have to scavenge, conserve ammo, use all your gear(yes every unit has an inventory), and play tactically like laying down smoke screens etc.

You HAVE to change your units stances, create diversions, use cover(trees, high ground, rivers, houses, fences, abandoned structures, train cars, etc), and basically joggle for position throughout the game. The whole game is line of sight based so if your behind something, most ammo types wont hit you. You also have full camera control which gives the game the same feel as Homeworld did when you could focus the camera from an individual ship.

It's the best deal of those dailies imo.

Defense Grid is the best game in the genre. 100% get Defense Grid.

I like Revenge of the Titans but it's nowhere near as polished or fulfilling as Defense Grid.

DG is a must own for all gamers.

I own but haven't played RotT, but I can say that DG has really convenient features like the ability to fast forward waves, and being able to jump back to checkpoints if you make a mistake so you can change your strategy. For those reasons I believe it is probably less frustrating for newcomers then some other games in the genre.

So what kind of game modes does Defense Grid have (I will not have time to test the demo before the daily special ends)? Is it just linear levels, or does it have some kind of good endless mode? Multiplayer?

Bought.

I love coming to you guys for advice.
You quoted my bad grammar :(

Steam has a tendency to warp your sense of value for your gaming dollars. I ended up buying AC:B deluxe for $25 earlier (I have 2 on Steam already), for a moment I was thinking "what the hell? $25? That's some bullshit." Then I thought about it again for a moment and considered that if I saw it on a store shelf for the same price or even slightly more I would have bought it and though I got a good deal.

You snagged a ridiculous deal by non-Steam crazy standards.
