Can anyone give me the scoop on how to do this the easiest?

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution
Promethium Summer - Kill 50 enemies while using a flamer

I own the game but never put more than 30 minutes into it so I'm a massive noob.

Play as the Lord General in Last Stand and equip the flame thrower. Also make sure you're playing the original last stand map and not the newest one other wise you'll get pummeled in the first wave..

Play Last Stand as the Ork. Should take a few min.

EDIT: Don't listen to poster above. ORKS ORKS ORKS ORKS

Start up a random last stand match and select Mekboy and change weapon to the flamethrower.

The just burn enemies in the match...I got it in one match.

edit: what they said =p

It was me, didn't really mean it was like DG, but it is sort of a TD game set in the medieval times, which is what someone was asking for.

You basically control a castle and you get attacked every 15 minutes to half an hour and in between those attacks you build up your defenses and economy.

Has lengthy campaigns with all the games.

That's about as accurate as calling Age of Empires a tower defense game. Stronghold isn't a TD game whatsoever. Just because a game has towers doesn't make it a tower defense game. You build your economy, build a base and units and kill the other bases and units. It's a real time strategy game. If anything it's like an even older version of AoE. The new stronghold game is being developed right now, looks like it could be pretty interesting. I liked the original.

Its not that bad at all.

I say it would bother you a bit if you are used to messing with FOV settings, but its perfectly playable.

The game's art direction is beautiful btw, couple of screenshots of my own from the first area:

Fixes the FoV, but still has some problems, much better than the alternative though.

Alpha Protocol, for all its jankyness, was a great game and you will never have the same experience twice playing it.

Thornton's voice actor sucks so bad, though.

I own and love the first Mount & Blade. Is there a reason to get Warband as well as Fire? Or will just Fire do?
Very different games.

Warband is an improved version of the original somewhat, with added multiplayer (a massive awesome addition, I say) - while F&S adds muskets but has ?less good singleplayer content (I wouldn't know, I only play mp, which is glorious). Haven't had trouble joining populated servers in F&S.

If you only get one, perhaps Warband, unless you really like muskets. I recommend getting both if you like multiplayer, as they offer quite different experiences.

Also, F&S just got a recent patch with adds a co-op mode. M&B co-op, whooooooo!

Just a quick note, Garry's Mod is down from $9.99 to $2.49. Definitely a fun tool to mess around with, I would pick it up if you don't already have it.

Well whatever, I think of it as an RTS game with tower defense elements and the way it plays out is quite a bit different than AOE or other RTS games since the main objective is defense and surviving increasing difficult waves of enemies, not unlike TD games.

How do I go about the Trine and Warband tickets?

In Trine
You get a item that lets you breathe underwater...but I think it might be halfway through the game until you get it which may take a while if you haven't played it

I've done the first two levels only. Much longer to go?

Jeez you are slipping. No one even made a crack about you being a bigger jerk than Thorton or anything.

I actually don't know where all that hate came from in the previous steam thread, unless it was some kind of a joke I didn't get.

Ugh. So I bought KOTOR on the first day of the sale, but according to widescreengamingforum.com, the widescreen options are pretty terrible. Especially since the typical widescreen mod they use doesn't work with Steam, and would require a no-CD executable to be installed. Which I don't want to do, since I don't want Steam screwing me over for any possible license agreement violations associated with that.

I will take all of your advice and pick up Frozen Synapse. I'm getting quite a backlog, but luckily most are shortish indie games.

I find it funny that I went into the sale thinking I would spend $10, maybe $20 at the most. It looks like I may spend well over $50, and even close to $100 depending on future sales and a few packs I hadn't even thought about before the sale. Well, I guess I don't find it funny at all :(

Okay, as someone who has never played a Mount & Blade game but has always wanted to get one, which would you recommend? Is it worth getting the complete pack if I've never played any of them before, or should i just go for one?

I don't think you will be able to check out.

I think Warband is the best one.

As an FYI, you don't need to do last stand.

1. Start a new campaign and pick the empire group (the general and the witch like character).
2. In the first map, progress as you normally would until you get to the part where you can generate units. You will know when you reach this point because the first map is still like a tutorial.
3. When you generate units for the empire group, you will be able to upgrade the units to have flamer weapons.
4. Once you have 5 soldiers equipped with flamers, just progress through the map using these units to kill all enemies. You will most likely unlock the achievement when you reach the part where you have to defend a stronghold from all sides further in the map.

Apologies to Dawn of War fans for not knowing the proper name of the empire group. I also am newb to Dawn of War history.

Yeah just go an error.

Will it work if I lend my account to someone living where the game is available? Or is the account locked to a region??

Thanks for the responses, I got it in Last Stand. Fun game btw.

Almost no one is going to say yes. The consensus would be something like: Short, uneventful campaign that ends just as it is getting closer to good, not particularly popular or well liked multiplayer mode although it's fun enough I guess.
For MP, yeah I think Homefront is worth it. It's fast paced and it runs well. I really like how the game rewards good teamplay with battlefield equipment and I think their system works better than killstreaks, vehicle spawns or bunkers at the base. Multi is still populated and you can get a free voucher for upcoming DLC through the summer camp right now.

For SP, no idea. I haven't touched it.

Things to know about Stallion Free:

1) He is from Connecticut, which means he either connects or cuts.
2) He has correct opinions.

Looks like Bully is a sure buy. Last PS2 game that I really enjoyed and haven't played it in 5 years so it deserves a replay. One of my favorite R* games.

Might also get Trine and would have bought AP, but I already have it on PS3.

You would recommend the highest-priced one!

He's right though. You can find Warband mods that feature muskets/pistols, and these are free! Take stroll through the mod section of the Taleworlds forum for Warband, and I promise you will find something awesome.

  • Alien Breed 2 - A full game, and it's $4.99 even on sale.
  • Homefront Map Pack - It's not out yet, but it'll probably be several bucks when it is.
  • TF2 Glasses - YAY HATS!
  • Defense Grid Map Packs - If you didn't get them on sale, they're $4 now.
  • Men of War: Assault Squad Map Pack - $2.50 on sale, $5 regular.

It kinda just depends on whether you like the games how much value the prizes are going to have.

Cheers. I whipped up the TF2 Glasses, Portal 2 goggles and the Monday Night combat stuff. I'll be coming back for Alien Breed 2 despite probably never playing it.

Garry's Mod should be used a psychiatric evaluation tool.

If you're like me, you'll wind up with a grizzly scene with a bunch of dead half life NPCs and stuff nailed to other stuff.

The other day someone in another thread tried doing this and got their account locked by Valve. You have to get someone to gift it to you.
