I liked the way the maps are, I liked the weather, the tension, the people. The oddity of it all just clicked. I liked the UI, the guns, the modding, the fact it didn't feel as buggy as the first one, and how much better and atmospheric it looked.
Agreed but I've been looking for a decent MMO and I've heard good things about GW. $15 for the triology seems like a good deal to me. What would I be missing out with Eye of the North if I bought the trilogy pack?
You would be missing out on that content, yes. It is all max-level content, so it'll be a while until you are ready for that stuff. Also, You can nab GWEN for 6 bucks with free shipping on Newegg if you live in the US.
Its weird that Valve Jr. somewhat ripped it off and released Alien Swarm. Both have the exact same Gameplay mechanics, elements, creatures, similar environment and almost similar name. But hey, now both of them are free...
For fun I went through my Steam list yesterday and found out the following fun facts. I do not own a game that starts with te letter I, Q, or U. Also I have 36 games I own but have never played. Most of them are extras from indie bundles so they just kinda tagged along with the games I actually wanted.
I'm going in pretty much a virgin to the two Stalker games. I know absolutely nothing about them other than their genre and a single screenshot I saw of SoC.
Didn't think I'd be getting anything today but I did like NFS Shift. Passed on Shift 2 due to GT5, but since that game sucks I have a G27 racing wheel that hasn't been used for months. Looking at metacritc on steam Shift 2 has a respectable 84 rating. Wanted Hot Pursuit anyway as I mentioned earlier...
Think I'm going to bite on this NFS pack, Beat Hazard cuz you all say it's good and it's cheap anyway, and Wings of Prey
Watched the trailer for first S.T.A.L.K.E.R . I'm a pussy when it comes to scary games especially FPS so I may pass :lol
Monday Night Combat is not simply "third person TF2", I could understand thinking that if you've just casually glanced at a few trailers and that's it. MNC incorporates elements of tower defence and feels more like a bizarre combination of The Running Man and Futurama's blernsball than a simple TF2 knockoff. Yeah there's orange and blue teams, yeah there's a few classes to use that look similar to TF2's but that's where the similarities end, MNC is entirely it's own beast and easily worth the asking price of today's sale.
Beat Hazard is likely the best deal considering that game has stellar user reviews. Will definitely buy. I was just gonna buy the complete but for like 6 and change just the other day.
For realz though, I´ll get Stalker Clear Sky and CoP for hardly more than CoP on zavvi. Yay. Good thing I bought something else instead of it in their 3 for 2 sale.
PS: How can there be a Deus Ex franchise sale when there´s only one game in the series so far D:
Its the worst STALKER, but it has some nice stuff... some of the new maps are pretty cool, specially the swamp at the beginning. The problem is the final part, and the mechanics of the faction war are not very polished.
Of corse anyway its worth this price and more.

Can anyone tell me why Clear Sky is so much worse than the other two? I am loathe to skip around in a series but since it occurs before SoC anyway I'm considering it.
For me was the ending and the history... shadows of chernobyl left a great taste, and this one is pretty disappointing. But yeah, its not a bad game, its just a little disappointing as a sequel.
Guild War is TOTALLY worth it. 15 bucks for well over 100 hours worth of content is a great deal in my book and the game is worth playing. GW2 is still a LONG ways out. It is a 2012 title and I doubt it is a January release.
Civilization V is pretty damn good, while not as complex as Civ IV, it is much more user friendly in regards of menu, and other things. Just needed to let that known.
Its Derpy Civ, simple as that. Its boring, simplistic, and easily cracked. But it looks pretty and doesn't require the user to put much thought into winning at lower difficulty levels so its more "user friendly".
Like I said in this same thread days ago, I'd buy Civ IV complete at its full MSRP of $29.99 well before I'd recommend Civ V at the $11 sale it was on late last week. With Steam having Civ IV Complete down to $20.99 and Civ V at $24.99 its not even a real choice.

Completely disagree with this. 10 dollars is too much for it considering how old it is, but the SP is pretty fucking good. The MP still holds up if you haven't played MW2/CoDBlops there just needs to be more people playing it. I'd move it into the "meh" category.
How would you put CoD4 in anything but the "avoid" category at $10 when significantly more people aren't suddenly going to flood the multiplayer component and for almost the same price you could get all three STALKER games and enjoy a far superior single player component in every way?
I could see moving CoD4 out of the "avoid" category if it was somewhere between $2.50-$5.00, but at $10 its not a good buy at all.
Wait, did they unbreak Beat Hazard? I haven't played it in a while, but when I did it had fundamentally broken gameplay. The algorithms were poorly thought out, with gameplay that was otherwise average.

Guess I'll just get the NFS pack today, given that EA region pricing makes it the same as just buying Shift 2 on it's own. Would be better if I could get it without Undercover D:
$10 is a decent price for CoD4. SP is certainly worth playing and the multiplayer is still very active in Australia, I can only imagine it being a lot bigger in more populated places like America. Also that Star Wars mod just came out for it
Yeah I have. They just put more time into SoC Complete. It doesn't have HBAO or god rays, but the game feels a little better crafted overall. They clearly put less time into CoP, and it shows in parts, but the quests are on the whole more interesting than SoC. Both games are great.
Games everyone should own: Stalker series (If you get ANY of these, get Call of Pripyat and the complete mod. Call of Pripyat is a fps where you scavenge a wasteland that is out to get you at every turn, where the draw is the atmosphere and the journey. It's very good. It's also fucking THREE POINT EIGHTY USD. JESUS I'LL BUY YOU THE DAMN GAME MYSELF IF I MUST)

You're comparing the most polished FPS series with the least and saying the least is better in every way?
No dude, no. So much hyperbole in this thread. Yes, sales are exciting, but lets not forget that there are going to be a lot of games on sale and people only have so much time to play them.
Oh thanks valve. You'll let me buy stuff through my browser but not through steam. It shows up in my library and I get my email receipt instantly. Where is my goddamn steam guard email?!
