Not generally. I'd say it's in place for the time being due to the content server load.

Edit: You say it happens "all the time", but I've been gradually downloading all my Steam games over the past 2-3 months and it's only recently that I've noticed slower speeds on smaller games. I use Aussie-based content servers, though (albeit not since the sale began).

vsync problem? I don't have the game but maybe you can try switching between in-game vsync and D3DOverrider vsync. That or just keep it off all together. See if anything comes up from google.

OK, I've been wondering for a while now: What's so exciting about AE on PC? A lot of people who seem to already have the console version even seem to be super excited about it.

I already have SSFIV on consoles and I'm really looking forward to the Pc release. After 600 hours of playtime, I'm excited to see the game at higher resolution and I'm also ready to mod it like crazy.

To be fair the AI behavior in CIV4 is absolute horseshit too. I've had friendly AI's sitting at around +11 spontaneously turn against me and team up with both of our worst enemy to declare war together against me. I wasn't choking his borders and I wasn't running away with the score. I think that was the last time I played actually. After that happened I just quit and haven't gone back in a while. I picked up civ5 at gamersgate and although 4 is still a much better game for $10 it has some new interesting elements as well such as the city states and combat. Even after numerous patches over the past many months there are still many glaring problems with 5.

1.5MB/sec is my cap once Comcast's temporary turbo boost turns off and that's what I usually get from Steam's servers. So I guess I usually do around 5.5GB per hour.

Yeah I'm not sure I really buy into that particular complaint, every 4X game I play it seems like there's always that, "the time for diplomacy has passed" moment. I only ever go for those other 3xs if I'm really going out of my way to do it (except perhaps research victories, which always seems like the best way to go on excessively large maps). Bloodshed!

damn. wonder why I average 3mb down during speedtest, but only get around 500kb from Steam? I'm in the upstate of SC and have tried Steam servers from Atlanta, Charlotte, and even DC but get roughly the same speeds from all of them.

That's the order they released in and I guess the order they should be played. CoP and Clear Sky could be switched, it doesn't really matter. But Clear Sky is a prequel to the other two.

I don't see that speed on Steam though. This is through Comcast btw, their 2nd to highest package I believe. Been thinking about upping it to 50MB/10MB package since I like to do a lot of streaming on my channel.

For now though the speed package I have works well enough.

Yeah, turning off Vsync entirely solved the issue. Both D3DOverrider and ingame vsync were causing unusual mouse lag. Which is weird, given I was totally getting 60 FPS.

Not sure how I feel about Shadow of Chernobyl so far. It feels dated even for 2007.
