Its got a kickass demo I just played to get todays ticket. Its like 30MB, seriously download the demo and give it a shot, its pretty damn cool. Lets you choose songs off your hd and all.

Just played it, damn it's good. Gonna buy the game + DLC now.

Sucks though that I can't get my 360 controller working with it.

Their game concepts feel paper thin.

AaaaAAAaaAA was interesting - skydiving games that are genuinely fun, with a unique sense of humor, aren't really a dime a dozen. What it did with all the different ways of scoring was something much more exciting than just jumping out a plane. I put about 7 hours into it, which is not bad at all for something that cost me less than a McDonald's meal (and there is still some replay value in there, learning levels to get a higher score and more cheevos).

Drop That Beat Like an Ugly Baby seems too similar though, albeit with using your own music (a gimmick that's been done to death now, such as in Beat Hazard). I see The Wonderful End of the World is also on sale, which might give me a Katamari-esque fix that the PC is lacking.

Steam has introduced PC gaming to me in a big way recently. I like using the K/M for a lot of games, but I can not get used to playing MLB2K11 with it.

Can anyone recommend a good (and cheap) pc controller for me? I have a wireless 360 controller and a PS3 controller. so maybe get the wireless 360 reciever? I dunno, maybe I should buy a wired 360 controller instead?

For whatever reason I was never able to get a wireless 360 controller to work on my computer, but I think that's because there's some sort of signal interference, the wireless strength is terrible in there. So if it's the cheaper option it might be worth trying, you can always return it and get a wired 360 controller if you need to. One way or another, stick with the 360 controller; it's the gold standard of gamepads for PC games.

How important is Eye of the North to Guild Wars Triology? I've owned and played an assload of Fractions, never did Prophecies or Nightfall.

2nd, if I do buy Eye of the North separate like from Amazon, does it work with Steam?

Third, I shouldn't have played the Beat Trip demo. Did a few songs...and it finally clicked once I hit Redline Day.

How do you fight a boss in Beat Hazard? I've had this game for so long and only ever played 4 minutes. I think this was pre-update.
Go to boss rush mode and use the built in song Beginning Trancemission - Johnny Fizz.

The double ship boss spawn you need appears immediately; simply strip them both of their turrets and then hang out for a minute. Pretty easy one to do.

People recommended that game?

They be crazy. Not enjoyable at all topped off with headaches.
I agree that I can't see myself playing it for hour and hours and hours like other games. But it seems awesome in smaller doses. No need to fry your retinas.

Played vanilla and, although it really starts slow, it gets better later on. If you like exploration while being on the edge of your seat all the time you should play it.

It's a sequel to Prophecies, though you only need one of the games.

Well, sorta. As noted above you register all your games to the NC Soft account and access them through the same client. So you can run a preexisting Guild Wars entry in your Steam list and access the new content, or you can just run the regular Guild Wars client. Even if you play the Steam version you're basically just running the GW client with the Steam overlay as if it was a non-Steam game anyway.

Am I missing out on something with Monday Night Combat? I'm not really a multiplayer guy but I keep hearing such great things about it. Is there a single player component at all, like a bot battle or something (with at least decent AI)?

Beat Hazard is awesome. I zone out and have this surreal experience where it feels like I'm actually in the ship. Really loving it, not sure how I missed it up to this point.

If the PC version of MNC is like the 360 version, it's mostly an online game.

Speaking of which, still hoping if anyone is interested in a 4-pack before I pull the trigger.

I'm currently on a super tight budget, I was about to buy Guild Wars, but then realized I don't have time for that kind of games anymore, and decided not to.

So far it seems I'll only buy Winter Voices, Eschalon and Terraria.

SP is solo versus waves of bots.

MP is pretty fun, just was on a few hours ago, saw quite a handful of almost full (12/12) servers and alot of full ones

It's good trust me. It's a mix of TF2 Class based TDM/Tower Defence/DOTA

The only single player it has is where you fight waves of enemies in a horde like challenge mode.

they need to stop removing these deals. Not even an hour ago Alpha Protocol was 4.99 and going in my cart only to appear 13.99.

What really bugged me was that playing 1...2...3...Kick! ruined the illusion of falling in A Reckless Disregard for Gravity.

The games are just way too similar.

Every time I try to play MNC I want to use a controller like the 360 version, and it does support it, but all the prompts still give you the keyboard commands and it's annoying as could be. Is there a fix (I browsed the options quickly and didn't see anything.

The deal was over, why wouldn't they have removed it? That's the whole point of a 24-hour deal.

er, wasn't alpha protocol one of the daily deals yesterday? The daily deals only last for 24 hours man. It stopped being 4.99 about eleven hours ago.

I got a weapon mod that somehow changes the rocket launcher into nuke launchers

Well I ad just gotten around to blowing up an oil rig and got the helicopter off the pad there, and flew to the financial district. I landed on a building, shot at the nearest building, and jumped into the heli and flew off about a mile away or something. The shockwave hit and my heli still got damaged and suddenly i get a million popups at once and my chaos meter goes NUTS and I get upgraded to level 4 military status.

I get another heli attacking mine and I bail and parachute down. I decide now is a good time to launch another nuke at the city, and I miss and shoot at a building 50 feet from my face.. The game locks up and a few seconds later crashes :V

This game fucking owns

Where did you get the mod from?

I can give you a 3 day pass (I think that's how long it lasts), you don't have to ponder. You can give the game a whirl and see if you want to buy it.

Awesome. I'd really appreciate it. My steam id is the same as my gaf name. Thanks! =]

Passing on Deus Ex for now because with all the other games I bought/will buy I know I won't have time to get around to it before it goes on sale again, though I have been watching a bit of a Let's Play of it on YouTube and it looks interesting. Is it praised more for the story or the gameplay though? - certainly not a graphics knockout even in 2000. If it returns on the last day I may bite.

Also, any opinions on Everyday Shooter? It's been $2.50 the whole sale and I think I heard it was pretty good on PS3. Not sure if I want to get a game similar to Beat Hazard so close after buying that today already.

It'll show up as a green X in the taskbar... eventually. Took a while the first time I ran it for no apparent reason. Took some guy in the thread for it nearly 2 hours, I think.

Thanks, jandicejuice, for keeping me grounded. Now I feel better about my $26.50.

Heroes Pack
Darksiders
Half-Life 2 + Ep. 1 & 2
Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate

Still hope to see PoP 2008, Terraria and Mirror's Edge.

Like others have said, it was only a daily deal for yesterday. It's on a timer of 24 hours to purchase at that price.

HOWEVER!

Don't go buying it just yet. You might wait until the last deal day when they have their "greatest hits" as it were for the sale. There's a small chance it could wind up being on sale for $5 again. If it doesn't go on sale again, it will still be at the $14 price point on that day. It's no $5, but it is on sale, still.

I feel like I have to come in and offer some Dejobaan love. 1 2 3 Kick It is awful, but AaAaAa is one of my favourite games I've played all year. I honestly think it's great fun. Maybe it's too easy for everyone else? I tend to be bad at reflex-y games so I find it satisfyingly challenging to 5-star the levels.

Ah ok, been about 15min so far. Guess I will wait it out.

So when it comes up I just select tripplebuffering and minimize it?

Yeah, you'll likely need to add the game's executable to the list then it's just turning the switch on. You'll heard an audio cue notifying you it's activated when the game starts.

Man, JC2 was (and probably remains) my favourite open-world game of 2010. Yeah, I know RDR was fantastic, and Brotherhood was amazing, but JC2 let me surf on top of a commercial airliner, dive off, pirouette between skyscrapers at breakneck speed, hurtle toward solid concrete, then miraculously recover with my magic never-ending supply of parachutes.

Fucking. Awesome.

lol

Hey man, where I live that's the cost of two brand new console games. Unlike past sales I've almost immediately installed and played almost everyone of those games. I know which I'll keep installed and play the shit out of, and I know which ones I feel I've gotten my 2-5$ worth from. This is probably the most games I've bought during any Steam sale but most of them are indie/small-scale dd-only and are impossible to pass up at the prices they're asking. The most expensive thing I picked up was Dawn of War II Gold and all of the Retribution DLC for 30 some odd dollars.

I know I'll get more play time and value out of games like Hoard or Defense Grid than I did Brink or Duke Nukem Forever, both of which were day one, full price purchases.
