Steam Summer Sales Thread: remember: you can actually play after buying

so far this sale I got the 2 bit trip games, the penny arcade pack and I was gifted Oblivion.

Pretty shitty since all the games I wanted where on sale the first few days and I was unable to buy them.

the last few days have been pretty disappointing. I really hope they have a "best of" day like they normally do so I can pick up some of the games I missed.

Also, any opinions on Everyday Shooter? It's been $2.50 the whole sale and I think I heard it was pretty good on PS3. Not sure if I want to get a game similar to Beat Hazard so close after buying that today already.
I preferred Everyday Shooter to Beat Hazard (before the updates that supposedly made it better or something), but possibly because I always enjoyed guitar improvisation and the game is sort of that in video game form. I don't normally like twin stick shooters, but I played Everyday Shooter a fair bit because I liked the music. There are only a few levels though, so I guess there's not much content if that bothers you. It will take you a while to get through them all unless you're good at the genre.

I might get this...is this a good site?

yup!

i ordered plenty of things, and they offer completely free shipping from Hong Kong.

only issue with DealExtreme is that it takes a while to ship (best case scenario 1-2 weeks, worst 1 month).

Quoting myself for new page since I was at the tail end of the last one:
I'm probably not the best to answer this at all, as I've only gotten through the first level. I sort of put this to the side to focus on the witcher a while back, and I've just not gotten around to playing it again yet.

That said, I think the gameplay options alone sell it quite well. Playing through the first level was really eye opening at just how many ways you could approach the mission. It was almost overwhelming to keep seeing so many ways my character build and actions could take me through the level differently.

Story being good or bad, I've yet to determine for myself. At that price, though, why not get it even if you're going to wait a little while to play?

GO.
It's $4.50 and a WW2 flight sim. What more needs to be said? I haven't played it yet, but at that price I don't really see myself regretting the purchase.

I'm just hoping to see AvP and Borderlands back up for sale by the end. Missed those days.

Anyone on here play AvP reboot? I loved it on xbox, but online died after the first month. Hoping PC fared better. Are the mappacks included or what?

I forgot to check this out yesterday, so someone break the bad news to me...how much was all the New Vegas DLC discounted for that daily sale? Hope it wasn't ridiculous.

I believe, they were $3 a piece.

It was $3 a piece, but it was the top seller that day, so I imagine it'll be back on during the end of sale recap.

I play it once in a while for fan service. The map packs are only good for the extra Horde mode maps. I dunno. I like it, but I'm an Alien geek.

Gonna ask again - I wanna get the ticket in Beat Hazard but the bosses coming out are all those tentacle things.

I also vouch for dealextreme. Does take a fucking long time sometimes, I just got an order July 1st that I ordered May 25th.

I don't want to thread jack, but can anybody maybe PM me about getting the 360 wireless controller dongle working on a computer? I just got one in that shipment from dealextreme, but I can't get it to sync with my wireless controller. Microsoft and the internet in general seems to have a incredible lack of information on this thing, really weird I thought.

My 360 is off and red ringed anyways, if that were to cause any interference. I have my controller and the dongle right next to each other and I push and hold both the button on the dongle and the little sync button on the controller, and the dongle will flash and the controller will have the 4 lights circle around a couple times and then flash indefinitely. Both these things mean they are each looking for the other to sync up, but it seems to fail at that point. Looking it up on google it seems to maybe be an issue with the dongle not getting enough power, so I unplugged like 5 other USB things on my computer and tried again, but no dice. I only have my keyboard, mouse, and the dongle hooked up right now and it won't sync. :/

Frustrating, in the meantime I have been using a wired 360 controller I have but it's starting to go, I can hear the springs sometimes in the left analog stick, and it's white not the cool black color like my wireless one.

For the USB port, are you trying one straight off the mobo or on a hub? Try plugging it into the back. Also, check if you need any special drivers for it (or if it installed correctly in the first place). Suss out Device Manager and see if it shows up as an installed device or not.

I can say that I had to google 360 dongle drivers to find a driver that would fix this problem. Once I got new drivers installed, though, it worked without a hitch ever since.

Well... I didn't just buy Guild Wars Trilogy, I also went in on Eye of the North and Beat Hazard.

I normally pace myself, but I decided to honestly just say fuck it for this sale. I'm tried of a lot on consoles and just want to collect on PC.

So my daily damage, making it by far the most expensive day. Monday Night Combat, Stalker:CoP, Guild Wars Trilogy+Eye of North, and Beat Hazard. About 35$.

Is (any of) the Civ 5 DLC worthwhile?

Check a few pages back. Basically, no. Maps are randomly generated in game so paying for them is a total scam, and there are plenty of civilizations to choose from in the vanilla game.

Indeed you were correct, I had the wrong drivers installed. I followed what this dude said, "WalkerA WinTeam" and now I have the controller hooked up correctly.

I originally got some other drivers for W7 64bit from Microsoft's site but apparently they were not the right ones.

Whew doggy, I am a very experienced Nation Red player and I had a tough ass time getting that summertime achievement. It may depend on level of course and luck but I was waiting around forever to get my last grenade case drop.

Anyone who is collecting tickets may want to get on Spiral Knights before the rush tomorrow. I was able to get a firecracker bomb off the auction house for 300 crowns. I'm sure the price will be jacked up with all the demand.

I feel like I have to come in and offer some Dejobaan love. 1 2 3 Kick It is awful, but AaAaAa is one of my favourite games I've played all year. I honestly think it's great fun. Maybe it's too easy for everyone else? I tend to be bad at reflex-y games so I find it satisfyingly challenging to 5-star the levels.

I don't really like either of those, but It's the Wonderful End of the World is a pretty great Katamari rip off. Lots of fun. Controls well. Great music.

If you are new, then civs the game gives you are more than enough, though I picked them all up after having played it for a while for some new civs to play against.

I am weak. I bought, today:

AI War Bundle
Foreign Legion
Nation Red
Wings of Prey

With WoP being the only one I can see myself playing for any extended period of time.

A.R.E.S. is a bad ass little game. $4.99 probably won't be cheaper than that right? Ready to buy and play the hell of this.

Semblance

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
Call of Pripyat is so, so, so awesome already. Not that I had any doubt about that, of course.

I <3 Eastern European gaming.

Considering it had a ticket acheivement a few days ago it's a bit doubtful it will go further on sale since that would had been the best moment to do so, with that said you never know. So unless you're dying to play the game or you really want that ticket you might as well wait for the last day.
