Batman AA is amazing and the demo is kinda shit.
Agreed. The fighting combat is some of the best and most fluid combat this gen. So damn good. It also does stealth right and has a great story.

Everyone get Batman right now if you haven't already.

completed Jamestown. cool game. reminds me of the good ol days in arcades.

story mode is kinda short, but still good. lots of bonus/challenge levels to help make up for that.

King's Bounty is pretty tempting, however I'm still hoping on Terraria being a daily deal, and I know King's Bounty isn't coming back on Sunday. Argh!

I know it isn't on sale on steam, but D2D has Empire: Total War on sale for like $6 and it's a steamworks title, so I'm wondering if it's worth picking up. How complicated is it? The videos look cool, but don't tell me a whole lot about the game, but I'm definitely interested.

Yeah the finale is insane.

If anyone wants a HoMM-esque game, I could recommend Disciples 2. The entire package costs €6 (-50%, but you have to buy the two pieces separately) and is one of the most excellent games in the genre and has content for literally months of gameplay.

The word on the street is that the game sucked, the AI was totally passive and the campaign mode was broken. Apparently Napoleon was a much better, so I wouldn't get Empire even at that low price point.
Don't trust this Goblin! Disciples not even close to be a HoMM-esque game.
It is, come on.

Arkham Asylum was legitimately one of the best games of 2009.

I only say one of because, while I would place it above Uncharted 2, I am in the minority.
It still blows my mind that Uncharted 2 beat it. Greatest robbery of our time.

I can safely say that I wasted my money on Transformers, was going through it with a friend and yeah.... game looks like shit and is not very fun. I will try and beat it though since I already spent the money on it. Of all the games I have bough during this sale, that is the only purchase I regret.

they suck, they kept dying on me at the end

They didn't keep dying on me but they kept getting stuck for periods at a time while I moved on. Eventually they'd start moving again.

The finale wasn't so bad actually. It was the 2nd to last section that was the worst. Especially the part where you have to blow up the cans. The Zombies would not stop spawning. So I took out my melee weapon and slashed my way down into the drainage tunnel and down it. Then got stuck at the edge a couple times before slashing my way up into the doorway and down the stairs to the safe room. The last chapter of it was easy compared to that. The last rush we just laid into everything while working our way to the chopper. Then I got in and waited for the AI's to take a good 5 plus minutes to realize it had to climb the tower. All while I'm laying into Zombie after Zombie from the chopper.

Best pistols in any game, ever.
And the map designers are absolute masters of atmosphere. I just like being in the Killing Floor maps. Shooting a bunch of murderous zeds with awesome weapons is just a sweet goddamned perk!

It's definitely worth the money.

And, if you care about such things, it's a good company to support. Regular updates, community map packs are routinely updated into the game, developers (tripwire) are always in contact with the community, etc.

It's also a UT2004 engine game so it will run well on older systems. And it has a metal soundtrack. :)

Yeah, I'm definitely gonna pick it up now.

Wait a minute, Steam sells GFW games??? And Batman GOTY version has separate achievement points from the regular version???

Does Steam sell many other GFW games?

I bought Bioshock 2 during last year's sale and now I'm sad 'cause Minerva's Den isn't on Steam for the sale. :(

Spiral Knights is kind of.. addicting? I don't know. Maybe I'll not feel that way after I get the ticket.
I can see it going in the direction of being legitimately fun when you've moved on to a new set of gear - right now it feels like I'm the kid in a Nerf commercial with the little gun being shot by the kid with the big gun. There seems to be a shitload of things to collect and assemble in interesting ways, too. I'm hoping that the levels get a little more varied as you move down the tiers.

Yeah its pretty cool for a free game. We have a guild set up, but I havent been online in awhile...so i'm not sure if its still together. Game controls better with a controller too.

So what's everyone's opinion on the Sims 3? I am so tempted but I think the full pack is a little pricey but I really liked Sims 1 and 2 but never played the Sims 3.

Is it worth going for just the full game or is there any must have expansions?

Just as a warning, I bought that last sale and I could not, for the life of me, get it to work on Windows 7 (64-bit). Tried every fix I could find via Google to no avail (even went so far as to reformat at try again on a clean install). Just refused to run.

Made me angry because, damn, I love that series (well, if we pretend Disciples 3 doesn't exist...).

What's your Steam ID? And I'd like to be set up in that guild if you ever get back to playing.

There was something about the Batman AA demo that I didn't like, at all, but when I got the final game, I loved it. It's so very odd. It's probably frame of mind when going into a demo over a retail game.

Yeah that was a tough one to take. AA was just unbelievable, and somehow AC looks even more amazing. Dat open world I guess.

Try this? I haven't fired it up yet, but reports indicate that it makes it a shitload better.

When I logged on to see the new round of Steam Summer achievements I saw one on the bottom (the freebee one) that said "upload a video to Steam" or something. I got home from work just before and went to check out the achievements again to see what to tackle first, and that video upload one is nowhere to be found... am I missing something?

Also how long would it take me to get the Spiral Knights achievement if I've never played it? I downloaded the game since it's free but I don't want to spend too much time trying to get this achievement if it's going to take me hours or something...

Anyone know how long it takes to get the achievement for the ticket from the time you start the game for the first time?

It was removed since it wasn't functioning iirc. I was disappointed too as I recorded a crappy 30 second beat hazard video for it!

It took me about 2 hours, but that was because I wasn't really focused on getting the achievement, but understanding how the game worked.

Probably should've went to Advanced Training first, as that would've taught me a lot that I spent educating myself on.

The game itself was quite good - at least the 'Road to Independence' part. Things completely fell apart in the Global Campaign. It takes a good 3-5 minutes for the AI countries to complete their turns, the AI is unable to launch naval invasions/missions, and you'll have the age old TW problem of a sieging army initiating a combat sequence, but then just sitting there and not attacking.

Napoleon is far better in every way, but the scale is greatly reduced. No expeditions to India in that one.

Better make up your mind then, pretty sure D2D changes their deals an hour before steam.

Did you buy the firework from the npc or the auction house?

From what I was reading, you can't use modifiers. I have to restart again too (and I just got all the cool stuff). You can always just reset the stage or restart the campaign if they give you really crappy deployments.

the tutorial dungeon isn't that long to access the main town, but they sell for 3k crowns from shops. They tend to be around 1k in auctions though, but generally you usually end the tutorial at around 200-300 crowns, so maybe a single dungeon exploration would give you 1k.

I am more hooked into Champions Online.
