How good is the MP in Guardian of Light. I haven't started playing it yet, but contemplating gifting it to a buddy so we can play online

Alright GAF, sell me on whether I'll need Total War or not, given the number of strategy games already purchased in the sale, what makes this one stand out?

I know you hate me, buy GoL is amazing hands down. If unsure just try the demo. It should be enough to sell you on the game.

I might get Conviction, never played it (beyond the demo). I hear it's shit, but I'd like to know myself.

Aside from a bad level or two, it's surprisingly decent. Went in with low expectations, but Stallion Free's praise had merit. For a decent price, it's definitely a quality purchase.

Haha, heated discussion does not equal hate. We're all on GAF for the same reason, our love of games. We can respectfully disagree sometimes :) It's all good.

Arma 2 is free on Green Man Gaming!

Just use the code THESU-NFREE-ARMA2 here

site is getting hammered though

It can't be redeemed on steam.

Wow, pretty big news about Project Zomboid! Hopefully we see it sooner rather then later. Also, does any one have an opinion on Winter Voices?

Fair enough. Definitely try GoL. It was the most fun me and my brother had for years.

Yes please. I lost my 360 saves and would love to do a FemShep playthrough on the PC versions in anticipation for ME3.

ME1 is best enjoyed on PC anyways. I hate to be a snob, but goddamn. It's like a different game from the 360 version (I own, love, and have beaten both)

I'm in the minority here and don't really care for VTM:B that much and I already own it on disc anyways but I'm really rooting for a daily deal on it just to witness the joy meltdown.

Does anyone own Guild Wars Eye of the North? After buying the entire package the other day, I just now set up an account but it's not showing EotN on the selection screen. It just shows the trilogy, does EotN not show up till you have a high level character?

Should note that Project Zomboid says 'proof of pre-purchase', so you may be able to register your existing keys. that's not for certain though but it seems likely.

Nice. Well either way is fine to me, played the alpha quite a bit!

just bought audiosurf and the Quake Collection, I tried to resist but nostalgia overpowered me..

Trying to decide if I should buy Mass Effect 2, I already beat it on 360 but I'm tempted to switch over to PC for the finale. But then I leave my characters behind :(

Depends. Both games have their shortcomings. ME1 is more an RPG than a shooter and ME2 the opposite. Go with what you prefer.

If you like rpg's get ME1 if you like shooters get ME2. That's the simplest way I can put it. It's harder to go from ME2 -> ME1 as well. I honestly recommend just playing ME1 even if you don't really like it, just focus on story mission and you'll complete it fast enough.

I tried the pc demo lack of controller options killed all interest for the PC version on my end.

Both.

But seriously, if you either love or can cope with RPG elements and slower pacing, buy Mass Effect 1 and purchase Mass Effect 2 later. If you strictly enjoy a more shooter centric experience, and can live with having the choices in ME1 played out for you, then go with Mass Effect 2. Only pick up Mass Effect 2 first if you simply can't stomach RPG play.

For those who missed it (or skipped when trying to catch up)
Sorry sale ending soon and want to miss the last 20 min jittering :S

Regarding which version of CoH to get, and I tried finding an official word(no mention of it in their FAQ that I could see) but I hope this will have to do, considering your limited timeframe - http://www.companyofheroes.com/foru...pics/What-Version-of-Company-of-Heroes-to-Buy

I own all three myself, I've only played SP, but it seems that if you get Tales of Valor you'll have access to all factions and special units in MP. Even if you're missing out on the nice campaigns, ToV should work for your needs!

I'll send you a pm aswell so you won't miss it in the allotted time frame.

How much is Dead Rising 2 for US or UK accounts these days? It's not available in my region. Looking for someone to gift it to me -- have PayPal.

I'd personally buy ME2 first. Don't get me wrong, I like my RPGs, but ME1 felt like it just dragged on and on and on. It never reached a moment when I thought "Wow!", yet with ME2, it's not stop "Wow" from the first few minutes (literally; the opening scene is amazing).

It doesn't feel like it has as much emphasis on the RPG elements, but it's still got enough to make it a great FPS/RPG. One of my top games that I can recommend.

Both games are worth playing, and I'm a firm believer that it's the journey, not the destination, so I think you should play both and start with the first one.

I don't think not being able to use a game pad would bother me too much. I mean I have a wired 360 controller to switch between my 360 and PC but honestly most of the time on PC i'm so comfortable with the keyboard.

Only game I don't use a keyboard for is Dirt 3.

Slow, but cool concept.
I can't stand slow games, and not in terms of "instant gratification", but real sloooow. Like King's Bounty.
So if you can see beyond that... You'll really enjoy it.

I'd throw my hat in with this assessment to some extent, ME1 felt to drag quite a bit in certain areas. For that reason I would pick up ME2 if you could only get just one

I am at work so I can't really google it, but what is the Zomboid that everyone is talking about. Can someone give me a quick synopsis?

Thanks for the response. I'm waiting to see if it gets a daily, but I'll probably pick it up.

Edit: And yes, play Mass Effect 1 first. The whole point of the series is making decisions and seeing the effect they have, you would miss out on most of that if you skip straight to 2.

I bought CS1.6 but why is it downloading HL1? I know CS is a HL1 mod but do i need to download HL1?

Late-ish reply but, as you say, 1.6 is a HL1 mod and thus requires some files from HL, not sure if it downloads the entire thing or just a few hundred megabytes. I think the same goes for any kind of mod that we know stem from Half-Life. Don't think you need to do anything extra after that, in case you were wondering what to do about the HL1 download.
