Ngggh, the countdown is stressing me out.

Should I pull the trigger on Risen, Audiosurf, and Sanctum?

I really liked Risen, but it's not easy at first and can be discouraging. Sanctum is fun if you like tower defense and especially if you'll have people to play online co-op with. Audiosurf I have no idea.

Yes, Yes, No (unless you really like tower defense and have been itching for something a little different in the genre.)

Risen is an amazing RPG that looks great, plays okay/well, and emphasizes exploration in a way that very few other games even approach. It's not incredibly long, and the production values are surprisingly high for an eastern European RPG.

Audiosurf is so cheap, even if play it for a couple of hours you will have gotten your money's worth.

Some word from lemmy on Project Zomboid being on Steam

I should clarify on this since it's now out there. It's not quite as exciting as 'being on Steam', at least not yet, but Valve have done us a massive favour in allowing Project Zomboid to use their servers and auto-updating and whatnot. We won't appear on the store and Steam accounts will only be via redeem codes, so purchases will still be through our site. It's possible we'll pop up on the Store at some point in the future when the game has more content and is more complete, but none of that is written in stone at the moment.

Being huge Steam fans ourselves we'd gladly use Steam exclusively, but the fact of the matter is the game is on Linux, and as such we still need to maintain our own version so Linux users are not left out.

Anyone who has already purchased, or who purchases in the future, will have the option of a Steam key for the game. :)

Since we're bringing up The Last Remnant:

If I have an unopened copy of the 360 version, would it be worth double dipping for the PC version, which I'll also probably never play? (is the PC version that much better?)

Yes PC version is that much better. Load times are better, framerate is better, and most importantly it has a fast forward button for the long ass battles.

I also picked up Last Remnant in that Dec '09 sale. I did everything on the 360 version, and had to pick it up on Steam for $10 for the improvements. It should hit that again if it gets a daily at 75% off, which is possible since it's only 33% off right now.

Im hoping that fear 1/2 go for cheap. Ive always been interested in that series and the console versions of fear dont seem to be up to snuff.

Also, dude, audiosurf is at about the price of a pack of gum or a 2 liter of soda. It isnt going to kill you to get it.

Use the money you would have spent on the Last Remnant and buy Audiosurf 8 times. It is a much better, much more practical investment.

People will disagree with me but I would say no to all.

Risen and Sanctum? Sure. Easy argument. Tastes can vary, you may not have people to play with, etc.

Audiosurf. At $1.50? Impossible argument. If you're in the summer sale thread, you need to buy Audiosurf at $1.50.

So guys, what are we hoping/expecting for todays sale?

I mostly want DoW 2 Gold Pack to go on sale since I bought Retribution on the first day and loved it so far!

Also hoping for a huge bargain (-75%) on Brink, Hunted and Dungeon Siege 3, need more co-op goodness <3 <3

I've often wondered this exact question, would Valve let someone use their servers if they're not selling the game in the store and this answers it, yes. Which is very cool of Valve. Especially when the developers are not even requiring Steam for everyone which would have more obvious benefits for Valve. But I guess just the hope that enough people will start using Steam from this game is worth the bandwidth costs for Valve.

For people who don't use their computer for music, they shouldn't buy Audiosurf.

The Fear collection is still going for $9.99.

Has Metro been on sale yet? I would love to pick that up if it becomes cheaper than $9.99

Not this time around no, not yet at least. But it's a frequent part of sales, so I wouldn't worry.

Like, as in they don't have speakers? Wouldn't that ruin any game?

The game comes with plenty of free music. New music is added like every week, too.

ARGUMENT INVALIDATED.

Definitely better graphics and frame rate, better load times, I prefer the M+KB controls and UI / Inventory system is refined.

While I can't argue the UI point, but I loathe both the ME1 and the ME2 inventory systems. Two extreme ends of the spectrum represented, when all they needed was a reasonable middle-ground. That said, I loved both games for their own unique styles. ME2 just felt way more like Gears of War to me than a continuation of ME1.

Also, ME2 had one of the best openings that I'd played in a while.

For those wanting a DOWII Gold Pack on sale, it's like $16USD on amazon, which is pretty reasonable and I would imagine close to what Steam would sell it for. It activates on Steam.

I'm shocked everyone didn't get it when it was $5 in April on gamersgate and activated on Steam

You play it with their music? I don't think that's normal. YOU ARE INVALID

Caved and bought Sanctum and TR: Underworld.

Tomb Raider players, I've got Underworld, Guardian of Light, and Anniversary all on Steam. Which should I play first?

Awesome, thanks for letting us know. I've been waiting for this.

They give you the Orange Box soundtrack for free.

Unless, of course... you're saying the Orange Box soundtrack is bad.

In that case, not only is your ARGUMENT INVALID. But: COMMENCE WITCH-HUNT.

Give me Terraria and Vampire bloodlines so I can stop staying up until 3am in anticipation :(
I feel ya, except that I've been awake all night (goddamned California and your heat at night sometimes...). And that I've already got Terraria. :D

Tough, but I'd say Anniversay then Guardian of Light. Underworld was kinda forgettable to me, but your mileage may vary.

Ooo, I might have to grab the Last Remnant. I wasn't going to get any more RPGs but that is tempting.

edit: and Fallout 3? Shiiiiit, it's gonna be a rough day.

Random game music out of context? Not how I role, although I have played Want You Gone in there.

I watched video of Audiosurf does not look interesting at all. Looked pretty boring to be honest. And I just picked up Beat Hazard (which is amazing) so I really don't need another game powered by my music.
