Just when I thought that I had bought my last Steam sale item, Splinter Cell Conviction and Dirt 3 show up. I would never buy Splinter Cell at full retail price, but at under $7 I just might...

On Dirt 3, does anyone know if there are any memory leak issues? I had so many crashing problems with Dirt 2 that i simply stopped playing it.

It does say NEW DEALS everyday from June 31st to July 10th.

Doesn't this imply that the last day will also have NEW deals? They could have just said "Daily Deals," afterall.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

Can someone help with this?

I want to get to the red circle, and the only way there is via the green ladder. I would do a backwards jump (normally by pressing S in this case) but S moves me down the ladder so it has to be A or D. However A or D sends me in the directions of the pink arrows :(

Is this Divinity game any good? What sort of game is it exactly? I remember people talking up a storm about it a while ago.

Picked up the total war package, was thinking about getting shogun instead, but getting empire and napoleon for 10$ or whatever with the dlc seemed like a better deal, even though I'd bet shogun will show up on sale on the last day recap for 26$ or whatever it was.

Not sure if I'll ever really play them, but we'll see. I'll probably download a bunch of mods for them first, and then never play them. That's how I usually do things.

It's sitting on my cart, from the video someone posted earlier it seemed okay. Wanna elaborate?

Slow, awkward controlling, bland level design so far, seems to be pretty low content, dialog gets in your way with these huge and annoying popup things, core mechanic of manipulating objects / gravity puzzles is not engaging.

Your mileage may vary.

The notoriously lenient WiiWare-World gave the Wii version a 2/10

Fallout 3 GOTY and Universe Sandbox for me today, and with these I'm already over $100 D:
which was totally expected and will surely go higher... hate love you steam

What are tomorrow's sales?

anything posted in this thread with a "franchise sale" label that hasn't been on sale yet, check the last 3-4 pages, most of the deductions are in bold or highlight text.

Thanks, I think I'll skip it.

Just got home and saw that The Last Remnant was a daily. Holy shit. Highlight of the summer sale right there.

EDIT: Really, today was just a damn good day. Amnesia, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Last Remnant, and Mafia II are all worth attention. Dirt 3 and the Total War games have also gotten praise. I would also recommend SC:Conviction as long as you realize what you're getting into. I liked it, but it is definitely not Splinter Cell.

I would assume the green ladder isn't the correct way there. Maybe there's a chandelier to swing from or some completely alternate route to that spot

So is there only one day left for new sale announcements?

God I hope so, I don't want to miss anything spectacular.

On the other hand, it's pretty great not having to decide what to pull the trigger on for once :)

Oh man the game is so bad. I got it in one of the indie packs during winter and I praise you for holding on for 5 minutes.

Yeah I got it for the ticket too and I can't play through it, it's so bad. I read the part to get the ticket on is like 3/4 through the game too so I'm contemplating just downloading a save and doing it myself.

Worst $1 I've ever spent.

Damn it I succumbed to temptation and bought The Last Remnant even though earlier this morning I had already promised myself I wouldn't.

Nothing much for me today. Already have 3 Total Wars that I don't play. I am hoping for Mirror's Edge by the end of the sale, though.

I assume that fallout 3 works well with mouse and keyboard, correct?

Bethesda game. Only way to play it is mouse and keyboard. That, and I don't believe the PC version supports gamepads anyhow.

Personally I fail to see how The Last Remnant could possibly be the highlight of anything.

Bought Splinter Cell Conviction and Chaos Theory, Fallout GOTY because buying all the DLC would have been more expensive and Mass Effect 1 because I can't bother installing from the DVD.

Heaviest day for me so far.

I think the thief gets an item that gives her unlimited underwater time. I'd beaten the game, and reinstalled it and just loaded up the level and I also had unlimited air for the thief.

Yes she does, although anyone can equip it.

I barely even noticed the inventory screen the first time I played through the game, but the items came in handy for getting some of the achievements.

I don't recall it working with a gamepad last time I tried it. Weird. At any rate, it's not a title you'd want to play with the gamepad.

It has native support for 360 controllers, I have no idea if it has that kind of support for other gamepads.

For sure.

It does, it is a GFWL title.

So is Dawn of War 2 and it doesn't support pads (for obvious reasons). Perhaps a better example is Bioshock 2. The notion that GFWL or GFW titles have to support gamepads is a myth. What probably is true that if a game is GFW/L and supports any controller, it has to support a pad.

Fallout 3 does work fine with KB/M, but with mods the UI/menu system can be vastly improved for mouse/keyboards. Unfortunately, Bethesda's never been very good at making menus/UIs, and they've gotten worse since Morrowind. Fortunately, the mod community makes up for it.

I've decided. I will skip The Last Remmant for the time being, I don't think I'd play any time soon anyway. =\

So tomorrow it is the last chance of Terraria going on sale, assuming the last day is a "Best of" sales.

Which is better Fallout 3 or Fallout New Vegas?

Fallout New Vegas is closer to the original two Fallouts. Fallout 3 might be easier for beginners. You can't go wrong with either one.

Are you me?

I've had the same reservations about TLR, and Terraria was the game I hoped to go on sale during this round of deals.

I have the last remnant on the 360... If it is as unbearable as people say I'll put it on my wish list.

I never played the originals (Fallout 1/2) and I am new to the franchise. I enjoyed Kotor, Mass Effect 1/2 and Dragon age so which will I enjoy more between the two?

I personally think New Vegas is just flat out a better game then 3, so I'd absolutely recommend NV over 3.

I don't think it's flat out better myself, but New Vegas does have some qualities that 3 lacks.

FO3 is probably easier for beginners to the franchise because of the lack of needing to know that much continuity. It's much more a Bethesda game like Oblivion so a good portion of the game's fun derives itself from exploring the world. I much prefer FNV as a game but the setting they crafted in FO3 is pretty amazing nonetheless.

Unless you are clearly looking for an RPG, FNV is the better choice. Either way you don't have to really worry about continuity, you'll just miss the references (like I did).

It certainly is. I played through all of FO3 with a gamepad and am now playing NV the same way. It doesn't require fast reflexes or great aiming skills, so it's actually a perfect gamepad game.
