Well that was cute:

I gave up on the last artifact though because that was total bullshit. Wall grapple, spin land on a slope, then align, jump, then align jump just for one part with 1-2 second reactions. Yeah I don't think that's gonna happen.

I'm coming from more or less the same position, and all I can say is Fallout 3 was kinda dull and I put maybe 10 hours into it. After the 900th subway tunnel with nothing interesting in it, I just took an extended hiatus.

New Vegas started a bit slow but frankly grabbed me from the beginning and most of the next 2 weeks disappeared. It just has more personality, a bit less repetitiveness, and although seemingly wandering around randomly is a part of both games, everything just seems laid out better with less wasted space and more interesting things to do when you do find new things.

Grab the originals on GOG.com for cheap. They stand up nicely today, and have amazing soundtracks.

EDIT: Also with the focus on Portal, TF, and L4D, when is Valve going to try to throw more support behind Alien Swarm? The game looks great, plays great, still has that unused alien boss model...and honestly could turn into a nice franchise.

That and there really arent that many atmospheric action sci-fi space games anymore aside from Dead Space.

After much contemplating, I decided to go with Mafia 2 w/ the Joe and Jimmy DLC missions. I was trying to decide between that, Mass Effect 2, and some combination of Splinter Cell games, probably vanilla Conviction with the DLC and Chaos Theory. Ultimately, I decided to eliminate ME2 since apparently the DLC is on a separate service, and it was a tough choice between M2 and SC.

Day 1 (06/30/11):
Back to the Future ($12.49)
Lead & Gold ($1.50)
Medal of Honor ($10.19)

Day 2 (7/01/11):
Just Cause 2 + All DLC ($7.22)

Day 3 (7/02/11):
Magicka Complete Pack ($8.49)

Day 4 (7/03/11):
Torchlight ($2.99)
Tropico 3 Gold Edition ($4.99)

Day 5 (7/04/11):
Alpha Protocol ($4.99)

Day 7 (07/06/11):
Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY ($7.49)

Day 9 (07/08/11):
Mafia 2 + Joe and Jimmy DLC ($12.47)

Alien Swarm should still be free/awesome.

I've been staring at The Last Remnant all afternoon. Is this one of the games that doesn't ever get sales? I'm tempted to pick it up, but I have a stack of unfinished JRPGs as long as my arm (literally, I think) as well as a ton of other games to play through. I'm mostly positive I wouldn't even download it until after the next sale.

Yeah you will no doubt, doesn't have much of a impact on the enjoyment of the game if any.

Could always just download one of the free to play games like TF2 or AVA.

Cheap day for me... nothing of interest at all (or already own the ones that I do have interest in)

I'm at a mighty 7 tickets, and can't see anything to redeem them for probably Magicka map / Defense Grid map...

Anyone got the whole 50? (I did see someoen with 49 yesterday)

What do you guys think the chances are of F1 2010 hitting a daily deal slot?

I really hope so, it's the one I have really been praying for... but it's looking pretty unlikely at this point. :(

This is a public service announcement: Everyone needs to go buy Amnesia the Dark Descent.

Already did! The demo was so intense. I was really affected by it; unlike anything I have ever played. And then the water part.... BRRRRR.

It just might be the best raw horror game ever created, and that's judging by the demo.

Goddamit, let me download the Last Remnant demo so I can see if I should give you money, steam. Things should get better as time passes not worse.

Last year it was on sale...for $20. You can use a site that is posted in the OP to check price history.

There's one maybe 2 situations I can think of in the full game that are as scary as the end of the demo. Other than that it's pretty mull once you get the hang of it. Still, lots more tension and HOLY FUCK WHAT WAS THAT? NO NOT ANOTHER ONE! Throughout the game.

That's revealed right away in the demo, which you could always go DL if you need more encouragement to buy it. Just go check it out, it's seriously the best horror game ever made, no hyperbole.

Tried the demo, got a black screen error. I'm fucked basically (people with the same graphics card have posted on the forum and there is seemingly no fix).

Would it be worth getting FO3 if I bought NV the other day? I got about half way through it around the time it came out and sort of stopped for some reason and never went back.

Amnesia is the first game to rattle my cage since Silent Hill 2. Complete steal at that price.

I've been following this thread, locked outside the walls of NeoGAF, for the entirety of the summer sale (and before that). When it hits "sale time" I head straight for this thread rather than fight the rush of consumers assaulting the Steam servers.

I'm at around $115 spent at the moment, with $35 in the wallet remaining. I've been a part of Steam sales before, but not spending this much. Moving more towards the PC side of gaming, I guess this will be the sale where I pick up a ton of backlogged games that I won't need to buy in later sales. I've purchased a lot of games based on comments in this thread, so thanks goes out for introducing me to a ton of great games (Beat Hazard, I'm especially looking at you).

This is my first post, and I guess I couldn't be a (Junior) member of NeoGAF without waiting to see if Vampire ends up being a daily - and having my $13.39 set aside if it's not.

Yeah, same issue with me, definitely sucks. Want to play it.

I did grab it for free from OnLive when they were doing that promo, so someday!

Well, that's... Disappointing. Opening that last gate in the demo was really intense; "I'M ABOUT TO DIENONONONO" intense. The game seems to rely a lot on immersion, though. Not that that's a bad thing, but I tried playing through the demo a second time in a more "relaxed" fashion and it didn't feel as powerful and oppresive.

It seems to do a nice job of pulling the player in, though, so no problem.

I guess now is where I go through all the games on Steam and try to pick out the hidden gems that I might want to get before the sale is over.

Just stumbled on the LucasArts Adventure Pack... fond memories of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis might make me buy it.

This my current game as well.

Yeah i actually did this one last week, jesus it was shit. I don't think you have to align for the slope jumps, it jumps the way you're sliding (could be wrong). The wall run backward jump takes some getting use to. Just played a level that required it, luckily no double slope jump afterwards.

So what am I getting with Kane's Wrath? How necessary is it?

A whole new sizable campaign, new units, new multiplayers maps, a new Risk like single player mode, sub factions for each side and of course a bunch of new ultra cheesy FMV cutscenes. It's a sizable package and well worth getting.

It's amazing how much if a difference there is in first impressions for me between Red Alert 3 and C&C4.

Red Alert 3:
Time travel! Communists! Bears! Mecha! Hell March! Logo! Woo!

Command and Conquer 4:
Kane? Kane! Chat room? Why am I in a chat room for single player again? Nod campaign? Do I have to unlock Nod?! Why do I need experience points? What the hell happened to C&C?

Good to see Kane again, though. But it's time for Red Alert 3. At least that looks fun.

Oh, nice! Hopefully it turns out to be a decent game. Loved playing the first one on PC way back when.

Hmmm, the Joe's Adventure DLC for Mafia II is only $2.49 and I'm thinking of getting it, but then again, should I put my money towards cut content?

what a dilemma

I almost bought Mass Effect 2. I just know it'll sit in my games library forever, untouched.

Do yourself a favour and buy it. For the love of god, BUY it. If you're not locked in in the first 10 minutes, you're unhuman!
