Hmm, little bit off topic but I've got a weird issue with one steam-game. Just bought Stubbs the Zombie, and it won't work. The game starts and then exit to say: stubbs.exe won't work. Reinstalled the game, rebooted my pc en rebooted Steam. Don't have a clue...

A little bit offtopic but some help would be nice, can't play TF2 at the moment because of this.

I got a 2gb ram stick from my friend, but when I plug it in after awhile almost all of my games shut down with the message

program name.exe has encountered an error blabla..

Faulty ram?
All your RAM should be the same speed and DDR rating. Does the new RAM's DDR and clock speed match the old RAM you're still using? That'll create an error.

Sounds likely, a memtest overnight pass with only the new module installed should give a good indication. Also check your BIOS for RAM voltage/speed/timings.

As long as you're using the same type of memory with similar voltage requirements you should be fine. Usually the mobo automatically chooses speed/timings that all of the sticks can handle, unless you've manually adjusted either.

wat do gaf? Apparently I'm not the only one having that problem but I haven't found an efficient solution yet. Updating my GPU driver is pointless as it's an integrated graphics unit (SiS Mirage 3 or something).

Verifying integrity of game cache, defragmantation of cache files and reinstalling didn't do the trick either.
Since it's a Visual C++ Runtime error I'd start there. Check that you have the required version installed (there are multiple versions for both 32/64-bit).

Uhm I'm not using my old ram but how can I figure out the new ram's clock speed? Or the old ram's ddr and clock speed? The old one was 1gb ram anyway.

I'm only using one module because the other slot is broken :/

Just bought both Mafias as well. A good friend swears by the original, figured I'd just grab the sequel while I was at it.
In my humble opinion, the first Mafia game is one of the best games of all time. It's so ridiculously good.
There is this mission where you drive a race car through the city at night to get it "fixed" at a garage. With those insane sounds and the awesome atmosphere in this game it is goosebump inducing. I always play Mafia with a manual transmission, for full-on awesomeness.

Sadly, the second game did away with many of the realistic tidbits, like manual transmission or losing ammo when reloading prematurely. It's also nowhere near as good a game overall.

I hope I'm not going to regret this but I grabbed The Last Remnant on the sale - despite thinking I got away with it last night (mainly because it didn't show on the front page)!

Good to hear. I'm looking forward to digging into the first Mafia. I fully trust my friend and he considers it a top ten PC game of all time, so this should be something. One really can't complain at $2.50, at any rate.

Should say on the sticker on the RAM module, also enter BIOS and set everything RAM related to auto.

I don't own Jamestown (sadly) but, the guess here is that, like unrenowned said, you might not have the correct version installed. Since the games are built using different versions of directx, dotnet and all that, you could give it a go and (re)install the version in your Jamestown folder. Since I don't own the game, I can't check the file structure, but if you try and do something like this: Go to where the game is installed (in my example I use Chime and Steam on C:), located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\chime\ and then head on into the VC Redist folder, and install it from there. Steam usually installs it as you get the game, but something might've happened right then or there's an error in the installfile. But, that's beside the point, please go ahead and try, then get back to us! :)

Reading through this thread seem to give me the impression that it doesn't work on Windows 7, not sure if there's a difference between 32 or 64-bits. If so, I'd venture to guess your best bet is to try compability mode, run as admin, or something else. If that doesn't work, well, then I guess it's up to the developers to sort that out, if they are.

Mafia II is sensational.

Hope a bunch of people buy and play it. It looks amazing, the gunplay is sweet, and the voice-acting is terrific. Joe is a bro character par excellence.

So far yes for EA at least, it could change but doesn't seem likely.

And if they're gonna change it, let's hope they don't waste it on having Crysis on sale for the 25th time. It needs to go to something like Bulletstorm.

Out of curiosity, sir, did you pick up Rise of the Argonauts?

A chance for more people to experience Crysis (especially those poor fools who have only played the sequel) is never a bad thing!

I got both the Mass Effect games. Will wait for Fallout 3 next time it goes on sale since my backlog is big enough already.

I guess not. But EA had ample days to throw that one out there. If they're gonna break tradition and do a two-fer, I'd love to see something that's never been on sale before.

I played 10 minutes and deleted it. It was the most bland experience i've had in a while.

I second this, loved Mafia II. Well worth it at that price.

I've heard X3: Terran Conflict is the X game to buy, but there doesn't seem to be a demo for that, only X3: Reunion. Will playing that give me a good impression of what Terran Conflict is like?

I don't think Crysis, Mirrors edge or other games which have been discounted by 66% - 75% in the past will be making it into the sale. Valve can put them up as a daily, mid week or weekend sale and still probably sell the same amount as if they were part of the summer sale because the vast majority of users already have them.
Valve uses the summer and winter sales as away to attract new users, get $50 out of the infrequent buyers and get the more hardcore users to buy the games launched in the preceding months between sales.

There have been dailies that aren't even as cheap as they've been before.

People will berate you here, but you've made the right choice and saved a lot of valuable time.

It's okay to not like it, but 10 minutes play time is not enough to properly judge a game.

So pretty much zero chance we will see a Bulletstorm sale?

There is no way to be 100% sure about the games that will be on sale, but at this point in time with the information we have I would say there is zero chance.
