Things do move really fast here. If you go to bed and wake up five hours later and hit F5 on this thread you have 10 pages to read, which I suspect not everyone does.

Maybe next year we can set up a Steam Sales FAQ Wiki, or convince Salsa to give up work, food, and sleep for ten days so he can keep the OP updated with FAQs.

So what exactly is the Portal 2 ticket prize DLC thing? Trying to decide if I should grab some more achievement tickets to get it.
It's basically a hat. You can wear it in multiplayer. Entirely cosmetic, so therefore incredible valuable and how can you pass it up?

This. I am new to the way of Steam sales and therefore need constant guidance. From Salsa. Clearly.

the questions that are getting most repeated are actually answered in the OP, as well as a link to the FAQ :p

people are just lazy as hell

Well, since everyone is doing it, here is my damage so far.

Lara Croft GOL
Frozen Synapse
Defense Grid: The Awakening
Assassin's Creed II: Deluxe Edition
Tropico 3 Gold
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition
Darksiders

Total = $40.20

For less than a console game I was able to get 7 highly acclaimed games.

<3 pc gaming.

They did (at least on deathspank) a sale or two or three ago, I got it at some kind of discount I'm sure.. I don't really buy games at full price now. Just not this sale :(

I knew they were gonna do this shit (50% off Dead Space 2) RIGHT AFTER I became broke.

Now I have to go sell my body.

=( I should stuff you in a locker for not buying it already. (Been playing Bully, forgive me.)

I know I know! Who's feeling charitable enough to help a brother out?!

No big deal. I did play the shit out of it on the 360. But everything just looks plain better on PC.

If Beat Hazard goes back on sale, EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THIS THREAD BETTER OWN IT ALREADY. It's too good for the price it was at.

I need to get my iTunes library on to my PC so I can play around with this.

Having a hell of a time trying to download NWN2. Keeps bumping down and hanging out at 0 bytes/sec the majority of the time, and other times barely passing 100kb/s, to spiking to 1mb/s, then dropping all the way back down to 0. Holy crap.

Anyone else completely locked out of Steam or playing games?

I can't believe I keep supporting this service; I should learn my lesson. If the servers are too busy, why can you still accept my credit card information?

Nope in fact the servers finally settled down enough for me to download Bloodlines. I've been trying all day only to get a sever is busy message. I was still able to play Terraria most of today even with the server overload though.

I just realized that Lego Harry Potter never went on sale. Very disappointing :(
I'm more disappointed that Morrowind never was a daily deal. :( It's on sale at Direct2Drive right now for $12, but I was hoping it would go lower than that, especially as Oblivion had a much bigger discount.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a steep discount on it approaching the release of Skyrim.

Hell, we should see a discount on it when Quakecon hits in just a little while.

So kotor was working perfectly with my win7, but now it seems I can no longer progress the story. I have two different saves really close to fighting Malak for the first time and every time I get into the Ebon hawk and shoot all the fighters the screen goes black and it stops working. :/

I have tried running as admin with win xp compatible mode and every suggestion on the steam forums and had no luck. I still feel I more then got my money's worth, but just a bummer and I needed to vent.

Sounds like the infamous Carth bug. Happened to me on my very first play through on the Xbox way back when. Unfortunately I had to reload a save that I had before the Leviathan level.

I hope some folks are willing to give Supreme Commander 2 the chance it didn't seem to get. Amazing game in co-op, and coupled with the cheap-as-chips expansion pack, you've got a lot of robots to play with.

Campaign isn't worth much, but comp-stomp doesn't get much better for a macro RTS.

=( You just unsold me with the campaign not being much part heh, was in my cart all day too. I hadn't planned on playing any co-op, just single player.

If indeed tomorrow is a repeat of best sellers, I hope Assassin's Creed and Batman make it. I kind of regret not getting them during the daily sale. I might just get the first two Assassin's ($6.79 each), and wait and hope Brotherhood goes on sale during the Holiday sale (Hopefully lower then $19.99). I finished all of them on 360 already, but wanted to replay them again on my new gaming PC. I guess that was the main reason I didn't buy them the first time since I already played them (including Batman) on consoles.

I somehow put 37 hours into SupCom 2's single player. I got my money's worth for sure.

Well I was planning on getting Terraria. Saw it for $2.49 which was great. I usually do my ordering later in the day. I check it now and it is $4.99. WTF

Also find it interesting that Terraria isn't anywhere in the top sellers list at all, at least in the US (not sure if that list is filtered by region). I know it sorts by revenue, but the game had no problem staying at or near the top before the sale, and now when it's a daily it's getting demolished by 60+ other games.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
If I get the New Vegas DLC, does it show up through the game itself like FO3, or do you have a separate steam icon like it looks like?

I just tried to buy the Hitman Collection and got the "You already own everything in this collection" message.

It wouldn't be a Steam sale if I didn't try to buy something I forgot I already owned! ;)

History tells us that tomorrow is a "best of" this sale's daily deals. But some people believe that there will be new deals, despite Valve not leaking any of the sales headers like they've done all week.

Well fuck. Now I kind of feel like not getting it.
I'm kind of fighting this as well. The only thing keeping me interested is that I would've grabbed it at 4.99 anyways. It was kind of elating to see it at $2.50 though, and it's kind of a shitty feeling to have the rug pulled out on that.

Probably a bug, or the stats got wiped when they changed the price.

To be clear, you can play the campaign in co op or is it just specific missions? I need people to play this with and I just got it. Add me on Steam please!

Yeah, it just feels kind of weird to have it happen like that.

so, maybe I just suck, but i'd love some advice on Company of Heroes. I grabbed it yesterday and got to the 3rd mission of the campaign, just barely got through on my 3rd try. Now on the 4th mission every time I think I'm doing alright, they just keep sending more tanks, and I can't get enough resources to keep up or make any headway. Am I playing the game wrong?

Hey pal. The co-op is a separate campaign happening before Sam's story.

How is sup com 2 GAF?

Terribly underrated game, it's an amazing RTS imo, especially if you're into huge armies of robots clashing with each other. Never played any other RTS with such impressive large scale battles with over 500 spaceships shooting lasers and rockets.

They almost completely got rid of the economy so that you can just focus on pumping out units and sending them to slaughter. Pretty fun in co-op, especially against the AI on higher difficulty level in 4 vs 4. SP campaign isn't as great though.

Got it during last winter sales for 5 bucks and had a blast throughout the 50+ hours I've played it :)

Okay, unless there is something that just leaps out at me tomorrow, I'm definitely done.

The Longest Journey
Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
Alpha Protocol
Braid
Garry's Mod
Just Cause 2
The Path
The Void
Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines
Gifted 2 copies of Audiosurf

Have to say, I'm really pleased with my haul this summer. There wasn't quite the sales prices I was hoping for, but really happy none-the-less.

Salsashark, thank you so much for such a consistently awesome OP! Really bang up job!
