The IQ on Conviction looks nice, but what's up with those assets? The plants and stuff? Wasn't this a massive budget game?
I know it's easy to nitpick while still but it's perfect in motion and runs at 60 fps with no compromises for me :p

I just spent half the day debating whether or not to get Supreme Commander 2. Finally, I work up the stones to gamble $3.74 and, lo, I already own this game. I guess it came in a pack I bought several months ago.

Right now I'm sitting on the Port Royale 2 and Bloodlines fence. I can justify both purchases, I just don't know if I will ever play either game.

Bloodlines I have played before, and found it somewhat enjoyable. But there seems to be an awful lot of grunt work just to get it to the point in which the whole game is playable.

I want to redeem stuff with my tickets but I have a fear that Valve is going to add something last minute...but I don't think they would be like that to pull a fast one on us.

Since Terraria raised in price I think the only thing I might get is Dead Space 1 and 2. I already have 1 on disc form from a copy a friend gave me, but I might as well just get both on Steam. Is Supreme Commander 2 worth getting? That friend also gave me 1 but I haven't played it.

Oh I forgot I might get NWN2.

Well I was planning on getting Terraria. Saw it for $2.49 which was great. I usually do my ordering later in the day. I check it now and it is $4.99. WTF
Same here. I was on the fence about this, but now I'm just going to avoid it.

Its IQ is not consistent at all. It is definitely not one of the better looking PC games.

Hey guys, anyone know of a place to trade steam games during this summer sale? I've had a copy of Civ 5 just sitting here for about 2 weeks now(purchased from amazon) that I'd love to exchange with someone for some of these daily deals, but I'm not sure where to go about it.

I know alot of people are trading tf2 items for games on the steam forums, just curious to see if people have been exchanging gifts. Thanks!

How is sup com 2 GAF?
For 3.75, it's not bad, and they've supported it well. And if you're asking, you're probably not a fan of SupCom1 so you won't have a huge problem with all the simplifications they've made.

The first one had some unique features that they removed in the second, in trying to make it more accessible. Maybe they succeeded with that, but it feels generic to me now.

Still without luck
Out of curiosity, is Steam re-installing the same C++ and Direct X files with each different game, or are the files different?

Think of it like a more modern version of the old Infinity Engine games, but with a 3D camera. Same party based D&D with active pause for issuing commands and such.
I haven't played any of those >_>

I really plan on playing Planescape: Torment at some point.

I have no idea what IQ means in terms of video games but that conviction looks like it abuses DoF and blur while utilizing low textures. Not very pretty imo.

Direct x no (but it tries), but C++ ones tend to be different builds per game.

Even though I am broke, I got some games on sale:

Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines
Prince of Persia Sands of Time and Forgotten Sands
Splinter Cell pack

Oh Steam, how I love thee.

so, maybe I just suck, but i'd love some advice on Company of Heroes. I grabbed it yesterday and got to the 3rd mission of the campaign, just barely got through on my 3rd try. Now on the 4th mission every time I think I'm doing alright, they just keep sending more tanks, and I can't get enough resources to keep up or make any headway. Am I playing the game wrong?

Second half of Carentan? Mine the hell out of the road leading to the bridges on the other side and make judicious use of AT guns. Your initial position is supposed to be overrun too so don't worry if you can't fully hold it. You'll fall back to the church eventually and then the next phase will start once reinforcements arrive.

X3 - 5
Terraria - 2.50
Worms Reloaded 4.25
Company of Heroes - 2.50
Sanctum - 2.50
Frozen Synapse (gift from awesome GAFer)
Beat Hazard Ultra - 1.25
Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword - 3.75
Torchlight - 3
Magicka (2 copies)s - 5
The Heroes Pack - 5
Civ V (Gamersgate) - 11
Alien Breed 2 (free prize)
Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West - 1.50

47.25, though I'm not positive on a couple of my prices. Still, under $50 for so much goodness, that's unbelievable. I've already gotten that much value from just Civ5 alone, Torchlight has been a nice surprise, and Company of Heroes is just too hard...

Ok, I was worried that my inability to hold the Town Hall was going to mean I'd get crushed later, though it's the next mission where I'm finally able to build tanks and such myself where I seem to fall apart. No option to have units patrol is problematic for me as well...

Well, looks like PoP2008 and NyxQuest for my last day (assuming no new deals tomorrow).

My results:

Audiosurf-$1.49
Darksiders-$4.99
Dragon Age Origins: UE-$10.20
Half Life 2 + Ep1&2-$6.47
Heroes Pack-$4.99
The Last Remnant-$9.99
NyxQuest-$2.49
Prince of Persia-$4.99
Worms Reloaded-$4.99

Grand Total-$50.60

I feel like I did pretty good, that's quite a lot of game for the money. The only one I kind of regret is Audiosurf, as it seems a bit shallow, but that will probably change as I get more music.

What's a good 40 or less dollar flight stick for X3? I was looking at that Siatek X52 and it looks awesome but it's way too much for one game...at least until I know how much I like it. Is there a recommended cheapo one? 40 dollars I'd hesitate at, if you have a decent 20 dollar one it's instabought.

It's basically a hat. You can wear it in multiplayer. Entirely cosmetic, so therefore incredible valuable and how can you pass it up?
Thanks. I'll finish up the Trine and Defense Grid achievements tonight and there should be another easy ticket achievement to do tomorrow which should lock in my last three tickets for this sale. Can't say no to a hat! lol. And I'm sure by the time I actually do get Portal 2 that I would have forgotten about the hat. So it'll be a nice surprise to my future self :3

probably will pick up Dreamfall($5) and Drakensang: River of time + DLC ($15), these probably have a 0% chance of being on sale, but i'll wait anyways.

Conviction is amazing and this is coming from someone who owns all the 'classic' games. I just wish you can hide bodies and had more gadgets.

Happy I picked up Singularity. An hour or two in now and it's quite good. At first it felt like an exact Bioshock clone, which isn't bad, but now I'm seeing a lot of different stuff.

The Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas looks alright for the price! I havn't personally used one though, so I can't say for sure. I found it looking up my own stick, and it seemed pretty impressive for a stick under $40 (mine's a cheap Saitek that looks fairly paltry in comparison). Good reviews!

Haha, yeah I was looking around while I waited for an answer and was thinking that one looked food too. Anyone have hands on with it? It looks great but I'd like to hear some opinions as far as build quality goes. That would be my only concern, that it would break easily since flightsticks get jerked around and stuff.

To be clear, you can play the campaign in co op or is it just specific missions? I need people to play this with and I just got it. Add me on Steam please![/QUOTE]

I always loved the environments in this game, specially that part. Kinda unique.

Ok gaf, sorry to be pain, need your wisdom on the following:

X3 - What is this? Seems nice, but what is it? Is turn-based strategy?

Closest thing you get to Elite in the modern era unless you play Eve (yeah I love that too).

There's the frustration created by the half-assed tutorials, the confusion of the interface/keys and bugs (until they were mostly patched out).

But! There's a majesty, scope and just plain WOW! in there too. Follow the plot, don't follow the plot - go at it... Space is a big place.

Persevere and you got yourself a game that you might play forever.

Oh the community is awesome also with all the mods etc.

Fanboyism not aside - Egosoft got a new game coming out later this year, give them your money.

I've been playing Civ V all day, so I was gonna buy an extra copy of Terraria for a buddy...why it is 50% off now?

$2.5 price point was a mistake, its back to its planned $5

The game crashes a lot, tutorial or no. I mean maybe you're experiencing something different if it happens at the same spot, but the game is really buggy and crashed for myself and others quite frequently.

Researchers have established a correlation between snoozing and losing.

(Seems Valve mistakenly priced it at 75% off, then it got corrected to 50% off.)

Could be any number of reasons. The game crashes randomly. With that said, I can't play the game if vsync is off, it will freeze pretty quick. So if vsync is off try that. Beyond that, I couldn't tell you, Gamebryo engine is a pos.

Quick question. I picked up Fallout 3 yesterday, and I'm wondering if there is any reason to actually bother with GFW Live on this one, or if I should just ignore it.

Right so for anyone out there who cares about the X3 ticket, I've tried twice now and blown up two Solar Power Plants the SLOWWWWWWWWWWW way, each taking 20+ minutes.

First I blew up my own plant that came with the dlc, then the one from the first sector, minimizing the game while firing my lasers.

I did not get the ticket either time, don't think I'll try again until I get a bigger ship, but first I have to figure out how to do that lol.

Ticket broken?

I have the T.Flight Hotas, and it's pretty good for the price.

I actually downgraded from the Saitek x52. While it's nice, I really didn't like the throttle being seperate from the joysick. It's mechanically sound and is a great value if you can find it for less than $70.

The T.Flight Hotas is one unit (two actually, but you connect them together). It's pretty solid, and have no overall complaints. The build is inferior to the Saiteks, but it's a matter of you get what you pay for. That's not to say it's poorly built (I use mine on a regular basis, at least twice a week, for the past year and a half), the Saitek just feels better.

But yea, no complaints. For value, the T.Flight Hotas can't be beat, but if you want something a little better go for the x52.

With console commands you can get every GFWL achievement in the game in about 3 minutes.

Just saying.

*waste

and you could try looking for the fix mentioned earlier...

Something about a GFWL remover and a full screen windowed option

I don't remember the links but they said it increased stability.
