Steam Summer Sales Thread: remember: you can actually play after buying

Picked up Dawn of War Retribution. Never played a Warhammer game before, but considering how nuts people are going for it and it seems like a good price, I figured why not.

So total pick ups for this Steam Sale:

Jamestown
Magicka
Aquaria
Torchlight
Batman: Arkham Askylum
Aliens vs Predator
Assassin's Creed 2
Dawn of War: Retribution
Darksiders
Alien Breed 2 (free from tickets)

Pretty light in comparison to past years - but that's mainly due to picking up a majority of the games at previous sales.

Whether it's an error, people should really grab Retribution at that price. I got it for double and was very pleased.
Hell, if you can, get the whole series or at least complete DoW II.

Weird. Seems that when I bought Civilization V on Gamersgate they give you the Mac version, which it says I can gift it....Dunno if that's normal.

Well, if any Mac user wants it quote this.

Fallout 2:

Does that stuff come with the steam version? Thinking of picking up the original callings before sales end.

Anybody else had this problem?

I was hoping for the Magicka discount again so I could grab a second copy for my brother.

Great.

Sanctum, Magika, or Just Cause 2? Which should I get?!

Thank god for it being the last day...now if I can only hold out from buying AssBro for another 24 hours.

I dont really need it as I have the 360 version but for some reason Im getting the urge to play the multiplayer on PC.

Dawn of War II and Sanctum for me on the last day of the sale.

Brings my total number of games purchased during the sale (including those in packs) to 33. This was my first Steam sale since I just got my PC a couple months ago.

I now see what the hype is about :p

Well, not enough in the Steam wallet to snatch Retribution at bugged price. Hopefuly it'll reach that again some time this summer.

Nothing for me today. Well I didn't do bad.

My damage:

Sam & Max Complete Collection
Borderlands GOTY
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead 2
Stubbs The Zombie
Transformers War for Cybertron

That's not too bad. Luckily it cost me very little because I sold my 360 version of War for Cybertron so I got that and Stubbs for what I sold my old copy for. That now makes me a double dipper on Stubbs though. My Xbox copy won't go anywhere. It joins my Halo double dips as something I'm proud of.

How is Two Worlds II? Played and beat the first one, thought it was terrible, but this always looked more promising. Impressions anyone?

SO much better its a great game if you get past the tutorial part!

Fable 3.....what a piece of shitty shit. Why are people buying it!?

That list looks suspicious. I wouldn't assume it was necessarily one of the top grossers. It looks like each major publisher got their highest grossing game listed plus a couple spots left for the highest grossing indies.

Unless I'm missing something. But I'm not seeing publishers with multiple deals.

WTF counter-strike price raised I could swear it was aroung 3 dollars yesterday? well guess I won't be playing that no matter how much my friend bugs me :p

I was going strong through this sale, but the urge to buy games I'll never play is too strong, guess I'll buy a few adventure games (despite having a huge backlog), Vampire (stupid hype) and Stubbs the zombie

Damn, Transformers WFC should have been in the recap. Oh well, perhaps Just Cause 2 will fill the void. Any of the DLC worth buying?

Does Bad Company Vietnam start you over on unlocking stuff? Is the upgrade path as brutal as it is in vanilla BC2?

It's been a while since I played but Vietnam has seperate items yet your ranks between the two games are linked as far as unlocks go.

Maybe someone else could explain it better.

Did anyone else buy the NFS pack? Hot Pursuit will not launch for me. Soon as I click play it says the application has stopped working. I've uninstalled and redownloaded too and I still get the error.

Well you're in luck. They are making WFC 2.

Yeah I know! Knew about it thanks to the steam news from the game.

I hope its as good as the first one, or even better.
I would love to have something like a in game codex about the history and characters like Arkham Asylum.

Never, EVER watch Steam sales a week after getting a new rig.
Horrible, disfiguring damage for me: more or less 180 €.
/facepalm

Wasn't retribution $14.99? Was going to pick it up today and am surprised to see the lowered price.

Yes. Was $15 the first day.

Buy it now, it's a pricing error.

Nice on the Retribution pricing error, bought it even though I'm only at the beginning of Chaos Rising.

Im still in DoW2 sp, but got retribution just for the MP as of now since it seems to be more populated and has steamworks.

DowII:R pricing... Make up your mind! Screwing people over on daily deals is totally not cool. 15.00 --> 7.50 is quite the jump considering what you can get on here for so little. =/

If you're interested in DoW NOW is the time to pick it up. If it is an error they'll fix it pretty fast.

It should be. It's the same developer making it. And they said it would build off the first game's story. I just hope they do a better job on the PC version this time around and improve on the multiplayer.
