Steins;Gate Limited and Download Editon Pre-Order up! Releasing Winter 2013-2014

I got both steins;gate and Saya no Uta for $53, they even have free shipping.

This is a much better deal.

IMO: Experiencing the story through the anime is a much better experience than through the VN. I'd say it's much more fun to go for the anime ride not knowing what'll happen, then reading the VN for all the additional details the anime doesn't cover and the alternate endings which are far more impactful after the anime.

/imo.

I believe the opposite and thought the anime adaption was just okay and not a good supplement to the VN.

I really appreciate all the opinions!

I guess it depends on how patient I can be for the game to come out. February, yes?

Also depends on what good anime I can find to watch until then. Also,. I heard fans of 999 and VLR love the Steins;Gate VN, so that sorta makes me want to lean more towards waiting for the game.

I hated 999! Or disliked it.
Two of my favorite animes (alongside S;G) are Mushishi and Darker than Black (Season 1, 2 is a bit of a letdown), if you haven't seen them. Completely opposite tones though. I think everybody's seen Death Note.

wha...

This is nice. I just finished watching the show and enjoyed it greatly. I'm not sure if I should preorder now though. $40 seems a little pricey for this game.

In my order confirmation it says it releases 2/28/14. Is that a confirmed release date or just a guesstimation? Somewhat disappointing if true, thought I'd have this before the end of the year.

Found it really undeserving of the M rating and was disappointed that a lot of the creepy parts I wanted shown were always described in text instead. Didn't like how it treats you like an idiot constantly forcibly explaining how to solve the puzzles instead of letting you figure it out yourself, and how dumb the protagonist is (wasn't an hour in before I was getting mad at his blatant mistakes). Didn't like it. Definitely the minority there though.

Placeholder but probably accurate, they're saying 'Winter'.

Get the LE from Rightstuf! Same price as regular but you get sweet pins and book.

So if I order from Rightstuf, it doesn't come with a digital version right? So can I play the disc version without a disc once I install it or will I need it in?

Well going from my copy of Saya and Demonbane you can just have them sit on the shelf afterwards.

Switched to Rightstuf too, hope Jast won't have any problems canceling the first order.

Kinda weird and random if it doesn't give the digital version, but oh well.

Wound up ordering it off Rightstuff and picked up Saya while I was there as well. Was looking forward to Steins, but I am going blind into Saya.

Wanted to say thanks to this thread, I was able to pick up Steins Gate LE for $38 at Rightstuf.com

Can't wait till it's released. I loved the anime!

Some details about some of the fixes from the fan translation from the hacker Nagato.

Technical Changes
As pointed out in the previous two posts, many changes have been going on over the past nearly 2 years. In addition to the work that was done to retranslate, edit, and polish the scripts, I'd like to highlight some of the improvements that the game has gone through during that time.

The most noticeable change with the official English release is the text. Readability has been improved by switching to a smooth variable width font. The entire game benefits from the change, but there is an appreciable difference when using the cellphone and message boards when compared with the original patch.

In addition to changing the font, the engine now supports wordwrapping everywhere.

The engine has also been overhauled to use unicode text internally. Using special characters like ♪ or ☆ would not work on a default English locale computer, but the use of unicode affords us much more flexibility in what we can write, regardless of system locale.

After much time spent hunting bugs, the English release of Steins;Gate is now much more stable than the original Japanese release. There should be less crashing and glitches this time around.

The last thing I would like to mention in this blog post is a new feature exclusive to the official English release of Steins;Gate for those of you who enjoy understanding the lyrics to their favorite songs. Any song which is marked as having lyrics will now pop up an image containing the translated lyrics upon selecting the song.

man, now that Rightstuf upped the price again, I'm gonna reorder from JAST directly. At least I'll get a digital version too. So stupid they hiked the price so quickly.

It probably had to do with the amount of orders they received and less to do with the time.

I think the sale was only for one week. Rightstuf usually changes their sale of things every thursday as opposed to Sunday. Either that or they received too many pre-orders.

Actually, now it's eligible for coupon codes. They might put out some good coupons between now and release.

If you're a Got Anime ( http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/AeG73bF51uVs6sjDej/browse/item/28423/4/0/0 ) member you'll get an additional 10% off your order and you can use coupon code Aria13 to get $4 off an order of $87+ (and free shipping via USPS Economy as well).

Yeah I was at Anime Expo at the time and hadn't checked Blick's blog in a while, but I figured it's good information for prospective buyers.

I finished the fan translation 100% and I'm buying this to support it.

Also hoping this gets us Robotics;Notes and maybe even Chaos;Head.

For a moment I thought you meant Phenomeno. (I would so buy that.)

What's Phenogram?

Steins;Gate's sequel, subtitled Linear Bounded Phenogram. Though, rather than a direct sequel it's more like a set of spin-off stories, each from a different character's perspective. It doesn't have a PC version (I think it's on Xbox 360, PS3, and PS Vita), so there haven't been any fan translation attempts.

Edit: Ninja'd!
