Stranger Things S5 trailer leak

Looks like a caricature of its earlier seasons, but I'm still going to watch it at this point. Surprised how cheap the monsters look with the budget they have now.

So they are back as teachers at the high school now??? :P

And as gaunt and 'unwell looking' as Natalie Dyer (playing Nancy Wheeler, the sister) has been since like season 2, I'm low key kinda shocked she has lived this long.

I sorta feel like this series has lost the plot a bit and veered away from most of that 80's nostalgic feel that made it so fun to watch in the first place. Other than ludicrously expensive music choices, anyway.

Later seasons I think in my opinion are absolutely the best say what you want, the original season is revered in tv show circles.

I watched full recaps of seasons 1-3 and then rewatched all of 4, and I gotta say, season 4 holds up. Yeah, the show does a bit of shark jumping every now and again, but it's still awesome.

Really looking forward to the final season. I was at the grocery store yesterday and saw that there's a cereal tie-in called Demogorgon Crunch and I almost bought it. 😂

Reminds me of when movies and shows would have cereal tie-ins in the 90s.

Millie is a mother now with Bon Jovi's son and she plays a kid in the show. It's honestly kinda weird and will definitely affect my viewing of this season. I can't help it.

Demogorgon Crunch and a can of Halo soda....breakfast of champions!! :P

I mean, ive watched it all, so will need to see how it will end.

But they really shit the bed with s02 and havent been able to bring it back...

There were glimmers of greatness in s03 but 4 was bloated and uninteresting.

Here's to hoping they can somehow end it with a bang.

Please can will die 🤣, they shat the bed so hard with his character that sacrificing himself is really the only way to redeem the whole story

This is has been a thing in Hollywood forever and is far less weird than Florence Pugh surrounded by elementary school kids pretending to be 12 in Little Women.

Supposedly there is a time jump in S5 somewhere so they will likely age them to their real ages for the final eps.

But yeah, the bald little girl in S1 being a 21 yo MILF by S5 was not on my bingo card for sure.

Sometimes I forget why Vecna is so mad then they show him from the waist down and I remember.

I say Eleven and Co had it coming.

Didn't see Max (Sadie Sink) anywhere in that trailer, I wonder if she dies early.

I hope they don't go light on any of them this season.

I still think Steve is the almost like the Kenny of the series -- they keep putting him in mortal danger, "Oh, he's dead this season ..." and then he makes it through. Not sure he will this time, though ...

S2 had some real lows, Will being quite crap, and Russian bits do drag, alongside hippy van guy, but the rest has been good viewing.

Vecna stuff was ace.

I thought the only bad season was S2. The whole sister stuff was so unnecessary and boring.
It's definitely the weakest since alot of it feels like retread of the first season. Max and Bob do a lot of heavy lifting for it. Season 3 is probably the most exciting moment to moment with excellent pacing and production values. It just suffers from being a little dumb and some questionable character choices. Season 4 is the most aggravating. It has some truly excellent moments but it gets bogged down by some dull plot lines and the godawful stoner character.

Oh God. Yes. That was so bad. But S4 at least had Eddie.

I just completed rewatching all 4 series over the last month to refresh ahead of s5

Series 4 is epic...tough act to follow!

I cant stand that fucking kid that gets his ass whooped. What an annoying little prick.

I was kinda hoping they beat him to death at the grave yard lmao, little bitch.

Kind of a dull season so far and not a fan of Will getting powers and 8 coming back. I was hoping that the gates being opened would have been a bigger deal turning Hawkins into something where the regular populace was actually seeing the effects of the upside down regularly but they just handwaved that potential new status quo away instead.

Only watched the first episode but man its hard to take it seriously with the kids being fucking grown ass adults now.

Millie is fucking thick now too and thats all I can see :messenger_smiling_hearts:.

they waited too long.

will still enjoy it but goddamn. should have ended 2 years ago.

The first episode was mostly cringe and only got interesting toward the end. I'm not sure if I'll stick with it.

Ep1 was a slow burn. Watching these grown ass folks pretend to be kids is so silly, though there is a certain 80's/90's vibe to it.

It does emphasize how bloated the cast has become. Half of them are just standing around watching other storylines.

So far this season has been quite unimpressive. There was no need to make these episodes an hour or more, each. Not for what they have told in these 4 episodes. Shocking, really.

Nearly every character has become annoying this season for me. Robyn went from reasonable weirdo to quite annoying. Then you've got that deliberately annoying Dipshit Derek.

The long winded scenes with Robyn and Will, ugh. Just get on with it. Nearly every scene with Will is like this.

They definitely waited far too long to wrap it up and are taking even longer with episodes that don't really do a lot in the allotted time.

Also, why Vecna just casual let military hang out in the Upside down? Doesn't seem like something he'd want to keep around?

I keep reading everywhere that this season is a snoozefest.

Shame, I wanted to binge something.

It's alright, nothing special.

Like seasons 2-4, it's yet another parade of contrived pop culture steals, cartoon characterisation/plotting, and heavy-handed melodrama which doesn't feel natural or earned in the slightest, with the occasional great moment. But you watch it anyway because it's undemanding and entertaining and because everyone else is watching it.

The whole vecna thing is odd. They make this huge deal about not being able to find him, they have the impenetrable wall mystery, the military has a base down there with a secret captive no less, etc. and instead of building to something he just casually shows up. Like it would have been better had he legit been living as Henry in the real world and everybody had just been looking in the wrong place.

Honestly, Derek might be the best part of the season so far purely because he isn't spinning his wheels or plain boring like everybody else so far. A low bar I know but still.
