Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

This is beautiful. Simply delicious.

Sorta On-topic: I'm a primary PS4 user, and I don't like major title exclusives. It's the world we live in now, though.

I only got a PS4 because I heard the indie exclusives would be on there, some of them timed but still (The Witness, No Man's Sky, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Rime, and loads more). I actually haven't picked up any big exclusive because I never cared for those franchises (Killzone, Infamous).

Much like Steve Youngblood, I don't get the rage over exclusives. They're done to bolster the console's library and sales among other reasons (Microsoft the only one supporting EA with Titanfall, Nintendo the one supporting Bayonetta 2). You get some, you lose some.

PSA for Arcade Stick owners who don't want to buy a new one:

search neogaf for Titan One . It's an adapter that lets you use ps3/x360 arcade sticks on X1/ps4. read up on how it works too, you'll need a computer running windows (or a windows VM) and there is some setup involved.

I bought one yesterday to use on my xbox one for Killer Instinct. Will likely be buying a PS4 stick when SFV comes out.

Thanks for this.

There are a lot of players in europe as well (the competition on xbox is a lot stronger but that is an other story).

Oh yeah, there are definitely more people on consoles, but there are enough people on PC for me not to worry about finding matches and playing diverse matchups.

Guys quoting me, I pretty certain open foot was joking. I was just joking by saying he was serious.

Sarcasm on the internet is hard.

Neither was tomb raider. Neither was bayonetta 2. Get the fanboy accusation junk out of your head for a moment and go take a browse through those threads. You'll likely enjoy the meltdowns at the very least.

Me? You're clearly the one so bothered by "hypocritical" posts. Seems fitting that you should be the one to browse and pick out who the hypocrites are. Other people have done it with keit4. Yet you, the one who complained to begin with a crappy blanket statement, have yet to do so.

I was here for those threads, so no need for me to view them again. The meltdowns were fun, as are the ones. But if you have something to prove, by all means have at it.

?? So I take someone on a forums word for IT?? Both crytek and insomniac have been around a long time why would they need MS funding, where is the proof these games would not have been made if MS was not around?

"Why would Crytek need funding?" LOL. Were you conveniently under a rock when Crytek could not pay their fucking employees? You are clueless.

Wow, this might be one of the most shocking exclusives we've seen in a long time.

Even if it's only timed, it's still pretty holy shit.

Can't say I agree with this move. As many people should be able to play this as possible. Hopefully this is similar to Tomb Raider II

Kinda bummed at the exclusivity honestly. This isn't healthy for the franchise.

Soul Calibur 3 was exclusive and it kinda flopped. This was when its prequel was multiplatform and was at its peak success.

It really makes no sense especially given the history of this franchise being a multiplatform one.

I'm platform agnostic honestly, so I will play it, but it seems like a genuine misstep honestly on Capcom's part.

But if Capcom is that poor, I'll take it. Ono did mention that SFV wasn't viable until 2017 before.

They've gone and done it... they've gone and woke the sleeping dragon now.

Sony should have left well enough alone and now they're going to get it. It's not enough that they're bleeding benjamins from practically every crevice of their existence. Now they go and throw immense moneyhats at a niche game like Street Fighter just to piss off the market. Why pay to keep a game out of the hands of as many gamers as possible? Why not put that money into first-party studios and games instead?

I know, I know... this is the way the business goes as they say. Well, they forced Microsoft's hands with their early sales lead and Microsoft only responded with an NPD whooping (source: musings thread) by way of incredible deals and value. Microsoft will undoubtedly follow this announcement up with some real megatons of their own.

Gears remake collection. A true Banjo sequel. Halo 5 beta in the hands of gamers. The next Bayonetta, Dead Space and Crysis as exclusives. Those are the kinds of blockbuster response announcements I expect, and then some. You hit Microsoft with a jab, you best be ready for a flurry of uppercuts coming at you in response.

I dont know why , but I'm having some expert vibes .

I'm guessing timed exclusive but damn. Looks good but I can't spend money on a Street Fighter with Capcom constantly rehashing it with some "super" nonsense at full price.

I think there's definitely some console war stuff going on, but...I dunno. This really does feel like the Bayonetta 2 type of thing. I mean, wasn't it earlier this year we were looking at Capcom's numbers and wondering just how the hell they were still even in business? Then not long ago we were seeing things like Capcom didn't want to pay for SFV, and if we did see it it'd "be years"?

Heck, at one point they flat out said no Street Fighter V until 2018. *checks calendar* Even if it takes another year for this to come out, we'll still be over two years off that.

At what point is it not a moneyhat, and is it just "This game would not exist without this console maker?" I mean, the motivation is the same--Sony wants money, this will make them money--but I'd still rather HAVE a Street Fighter V, and have a good one sooner rather than later. Plus, again...Super Street Fighter V will be a thing.

Guess I'm buying a stick for my PS4 now :(

Goddamn I've spent like 1000 bucks on arcade sticks since last gen.

Start bugging Capcom to add-in LabZero's PS3 driver.

You seriously think Crytek and Insomniac are big enough studios to fund games as big as Ryse and Sunset on their own?

There's a reason both games were published by MS and are effectively first party.

It's funny how so many people are trying to shade Sony over this. I just don't get it. There were hints for almost a year Capcom had no interest in funding a SFV. Ono said it himself. They won't even let him port USFIV to the next-gen systems.

This is no different than From's deal to work w/ Sony and get financial help to make Bloodborn. It's literally the exact same as that situation. If anything you should question why he went to Sony and not Microsoft, but I can think of a few reasons:

**Street Fighter is a Japanese fighting series, and Japan is where a lot of the fighting game market is concentrated.

** MS doesn't allow cross-platform online play

**MS has literally almost zero presence in Japan or most other Asian countries when it comes to the Xbox brand. Again, Japanese developer, Japanese game franchise, overwhelming presence of hardcore scene there and pretty much the home for fighting games. Didn't Itagaki get a lot of flack for making DOA3 an OG Xbox exclusive back in the day? Ono probably doesn't want that himself.

** PS4 at least has some presence in Japan, and is doing much better than XBO in Asian and, well, every country in the world going by sales. The only exception is China where XBO had a decent launch but I don't know how it's selling there anymore

Those are just some of the reasons I can imagine how this came to be, and you can't blame Sony for wanting to help. By contrast the RotTR deal was much different, and tbh thinking on it now, that was very smart of MS to do. They need a brand name to stand up to UnCharted, Quantum Break isn't gonna cut it.

I was super critical of SF4's art design, I like this style a LOT more. Still exaggerated, but not the point of looking so damn goofy. Ryu actually looks cool now and Chun Li looks more sleek and agile.
She still got dem thighs tho. Just the way I like it ;)

Serious question tho but is Ikeno still character designer?

Why are people so salty about it being PS4 exclusive? Fighting games are supposed to be played at 60 fps, so the XB1 version, if it happens, would be the inferior version from the get go, right?

Also, I thought most of current-gen GAF owned PS4s.

I hate to even wade in to this, but Insomniac has confirmed they went with Microsoft because they let them keep the IP and that other publishers (including presumably Sony) would not. Ryse was originally developed (and thus most likely commissioned by MS) as a Kinect title. Don't know if there any official statements about the latter though.

Tyus face in SFIV did not match any of the previous art and he looked like some big pile of angry meat. The new one looks way better though.
