Battle Lounge was working great yesterday, everything was great but then I found out my friend was playing wifi when our butter ass connection went to ass quick.

Someone else recommended getting one of those things that connect to the power line for a wired connection

Is that any good?

I use a powerline adapter and it's a huge improvement over WiFi for fighting games, personally. Not quite as good as direct connection, and mileage will vary depending on the wiring in your place.

The issue is that the points would be easily attainable with a trainer if they weren't server side due to the PC version. So by having you log in for points to use online in the first place, it prevents people from just being scummy. The network issues are a point that I've taken continuous issue with, but the result is better once things get going.

The game still works. If you are looking for those points, then it doesn't for the reasons I stated above. Or if you are looking to play online, it's currently down. But the game itself works just fine.

I think many people are welcome to have a conversation with you, but when you retreat to assumptions like "UD PROBL DEFNE CAPCOM" or some shit like that, it tells people you aren't actually in this to have a talk and would rather get angry if someone disagrees.

I know what you're saying (and others) but this is defending a practice I've seen GAF complain about: locking down content in offline mode. You're forcing a single player experience to be online. Look, ignore the points system. If I remember correctly, I can't even save my progress, scores, or character levels in offline mode. Offline mode is as if I'm signing in as a guest account, making progress pointless.

I don't care if someone disagrees. That's how opinions work. But this same crap would be crapped on if say Uncharted 4 or Halo V forced you to play online to save your game and for the first 3 days, the game wouldn't connect online. But for some reason, it's okay if SFV does it?

Do most people even know that V-Reversal exists?

I haven't bothered to use it yet but I haven't seen anyone using it either. Going to start tonight though.

GAF isn't a single person. GAF is, as you see here, varied and filled with different opinions.

Plus, it's not so cut and dry. You can still earn colors by being offline. But FM, in and of itself, is a virtual currency based on the online system to buy DLC. The costumes in the story mode? That's some total bullshit, and I definitely think they should let those go free.

But in regards to the DLC itself, the characters and other things, letting people go offline and game the system means it'd be easy to get that stuff, and thus Capcom sees no return. It's bad for business, and consumers win out, leaving Capcom to wallow in the debt.

Your story mode progression is saved. Your EXP isn't, unless it's uploaded after the fact (which it might be? when I go back online I get a boost), and I think Survival Mode scores are saved as well.

When Challenges/Trials come, and the real Story Mode drops, I'm betting you can do those offline.

Your comparison to UC4 is weird. It'd be more like saving your leveling up stats in UC4 if they had it in the Story Mode, but that level up is more about time spent than anything. You'd still be able to save your progress and your standing in the game.

Finally, you say you don't get all huffy about opinions, but attempting to put words in someone's mouth is a surefire way of exposing how angry you are that someone else doesn't (possibly) agree.

Edit: Nevermind, guess player levels are the same. My mistake.

The only thing locked down in offline mode is character levels, because it's tied to earning you FM every time you level up. You can still do story, survival to unlock colors and training, so what exactly are you complaining about? Nothing is locked out besides online battles and fight money.

I need some suggestions, because I'm apparently super shitty at charge moves in this game. I can throw Chun-Li's fireball such a low percentage of the time, it's gotten to the point where I started questioning if my stick was broke. But I then switched over to playing a bit of Persona 4 Arena, and can pull off the same back charge forward move with ease, using the same stick. Is it just a question of SFV demanding a higher level of accuracy with stick movement? I've done a little bit of testing and found that I can pull off the charge move a little better by holding the base of the stick which 1. isn't a viable way to play but 2. is less overall movement and probably a little more accurate.

Any suggestions on how to improve this in my play would be appreciated.

How long are you holding the charge for? I think SF requires ~2 seconds.

(I'm using the SFV Alpha stick, but only for the next few days until my TES+ gets here, but that uses the same stick/gate, right?)

I can't say for sure but maybe P4A and SF have different charge timers? Just gotta practice, try doing charge moves by doing down back into down forward at first so you don't move then go from there.

About your edit, might be the stick you're using as well lol. You should see a big difference between that Alpha thing and real Sanwa parts.

Not gonna lie, not getting experience in Battle Lounge but still forcing the players to wait like 15 seconds to send the results to the server after each match is a bit annoying. At least rematches are working now when you set it to first to X wins.

Some of these Chun links are some tight-ass shit. They may not be 1 frame links but still hard. Wish SF wasn't so much about execution.

Edit: Servers are back up, so I went into the records and since I've been playing Ryu all morning and all day without being online for most of it, it assumes my favorite character is Ryu. My player level is also higher. So it must be saving something on the console and then updating once the server hits.

I'm at work so I may have came across annoyed so apologies. I haven't had a lot of chance to play because last night, I was half a round in before it disconnected and told me progress wasn't going to be saved. After 30 minutes of signing in and disconnecting during the character select, I quit playing. It came across as gross and an annoyance to even try and play.

I've had a total of 1 hour with this game and the majority of that has been signing in and waiting. Understand that someone defending that so Capcom can make sure they make money can be irritating.

Wait really? Urfhhhhhhh.

I'm still grinding a character when I'm playing with friends.

I've been trying it a lot in practice with the input display on, will hold back for a number of seconds just to make sure I've got it and then forward+punch, will see a < >+P on the input but it barely works. It's not as bad with a spinning kick going down/up, but I'm just sort of at a loss with the back forward moves. I'm no fighting game master, but I know exactly what needs to be done to do a simple charge fireball... just super frustrating.

If the directional input is reading correctly only thing I can think of is the timing on your punch input. I figure you're doing it correctly but it is worth mentioning.

They are some of the most damaging no meter, no trigger combos in the game, it needs some downside. That's the point of an execution barrier.

I'd say it's on the other side of greed. I mean, these DLC characters weren't going to be free in the first place, and with SF4, you had to pay. Same with most fighting games besides Tekken.

So they are losing money using this system, since you can earn the DLC instead of having to pay a flat rate. It's shitty to have to deal with networking problems, but this is a better alternative, barring the network shit.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't have to have restraints so people don't cheat, but that's life I guess.

Good deal. I can see what you're saying.

Sorry to everyone if I was a turd. Ol DryvBy is an old man. I just have had limited time and this game feels really broken when the network is down. And I miss my old arcade mode a lot.

Played a small bit of R.Mika in the story mode. She seems like an extremely aggressive in your face character, much more so than my main, Ken.

Thoughts? I prefer that kind of playstyle generally.

11 win streak currently and 152 lp from silver. But man, feeling like the biggest fraud right now, getting nothing but sub 1k players

I actually play quite defensively with her. But I defintely get the feeling like that's the wrong way to play her. Ever mika i face is very aggresive and I tend to suck in the mirror matchup because of it

Don't worry about it. I've been irate all day that the servers went back up right before a long day at work so I know how ya feel.

Anyone know where I can find a listing of every character's V Skill/Trigger and it's effects?

The OP has the names listed but I'm more interested in the properties associated with activation and haven't been able to find a resource that isn't an hour long YT clip.

You can try the VFrames app. It gives descriptions for those moves.

man, that story mode was crap.

anway, been a few years since I played Street Fighter and I've taken a liking to Bison in this one. Trouble is, I've never really bothered with charge characters before. I can pull off the scissor kicks in combos (not 100% consistently, give it time), but having to charge buffer throughout a real match is proving really frustrating.

Any useful tips someone more experienced could offer? Are there any situations I'd want to charge with b instead of db (apart from walking back obviously). What are some good moves to buffer out of? So far I'm just using down MP, really.

anyone have any tips/suggestions on mid range R.Mika footsie play? (playing as R.Mika I mean)

f.MK is the overall go-to normal poke. Decent range and speed. On counter-hit, it combos into target combo.

cHP is good if you space it so that it just barely grazes the enemy. It's unsafe otherwise. Can beat out a lot of enemy pokes and is useful at closing the distance in some match-ups. Recovers quickly enough to be a decent tick-throw set-up.

Don't be predictable with s.HK.
