15 mins left @-@ too bad I got two exams tomorrow and wednesday, will have to wait till im done with them to be able to play.

I've never played a charge char before but I really wanna try out chunli. In the betas I only played Ryu/Ken and some rashid lol... will be hard to adjust

Also I pre-ordered on PSN, am I supposed to have a code for the alt costume?

Ok, I have to ask: should I have already gotten a code for the Chun-Li costume with my preorder, will I get it when the game unlocks in 22 minutes, or is it something else entirely?

Does anyone know if the Gamestop preorder code for the Ryu DLC is on the receipt or in the box?

I've been told it is printed on the receipt or emailed to you depending on if you got instore pickup or delivery.

Steam is automatically applied and I assume it is the same for PSN.

Story mode is terrible. Spends more time loading than fighting. Oh and why is it on a bluray with a 6gb patch if even the intro movie is terribly compressed and washed out.

I know that's nitpicking but I feel kind of robbed. I was also unable to connect and fight online, even the beta worked better...

It is a bit light on single player content but there have been plenty of threads about it so I'm not sure why you'd feel robbed. Hopefully you won't regret it too much.

I'm confused...I thought story mode was out in june? Is there a different story mode that comes with the game now?

Since this thread is up, Fighting Game GAF has a Discord Chat. Quote to reveal the link:

Try to make an effort to invite others so the chat can grow. It's a good way to find opponents instead of posting in the thread, since people can read and respond in real-time.

Joined. Thanks for this, and good idea!

Yes I know but not being able to connect doesn't help. And I was expecting shorter load times...

I will certainly enjoy the next big update.

I don't get how to unlock colors, regardless Survival mode is boring as hell and after getting to lvl 32 in Hard and not unlocking a single color... I'm pretty pissed.

You have to beat it, you don't unlock it or get fight money unless you complete it.

Wait, I missed the Daigo v Lupe match!? Oh man, so I only caught the ending when they did an interview. I thought they were doing a break, and I have just been on the twitch channel ever since. So it's actually finished. Boo hoo.

Fuck, I was going to pass on this as it's pretty light on content but now I get the feeling I'm going to cave and buy it tomorrow.... So weak.

Beat survival mode on Easy (lasts 10 rounds) with a character to get color 3 for that character
Beat survival mode on Normal (lasts 30 rounds) with a character to get colors 4, 5 and 6 for that character
Beat survival mode on Hard (lasts 50 rounds) with a character to get colors 7, 8, 9 and 10 for that character.

Birdie gives me a lot of trouble. His jumping grab and chains are still confusing me.

Diving Grab only hits if you're on the ground at the end of the dive. So you can jump or hit him out of it if it comes at you early. It's a setup, you'll need to figure out something.

Chains only grab you when it scores a clean hit which means you can block them. They're also slow and can only be tossed at two different angles. So if you're getting hit by the chain, you're being predictable about your placement and what you're doing.

So beating Hard past 30 doesn't retroactively unlock normal and easy? Oh that's fucking bullshit. The mode is straight up torture.

Welp, default colors for me. Thanks for locking colors behind a boring treadmill.

50 rounds of survival with a character I don't like sounds like a bit much... dammit Capcom...

Edit: granted, if I don't like the character, why am I trying to unlock a color for them in the first place?

Thanks for the info.

Well there's your single-player content

Yeah. The survival mode idea seems a bit poor. Maybe they'll sell color unlocks for FM/Zenny since that seems to be the way this game's going.

Part of me hopes so, otherwise I'll have to resign myself to never getting all the colors for most of the cast that I can't play properly.

So could someone explain to me why Fang's poison is seen as some new "powerful" mechanic that is somehow radically different from what has existed since SF2? Does the poison stack with itself, to tick faster each application? Otherwise, I'm not seeing a real advantage, only a different way to deal the same chip damage you would have dealt over the course of a round with projectiles. It's not like a typical Fang player is going to poison at the start and then not get hit the rest of the round. I doubt even someone that masters the character would end up being able to do it more than you could get a perfect with any other character either. Plus, the projectiles don't even really do much damage at all unblocked.

Not really powerful mechanic, but just a new mechanic. The poison mechanic itself wouldn't be as useful, if he didn't have the V-Skill which is unblockable, can not be destroyed, and can only be dodged, but has no hit stun. Also the poison does damage on top of chip damage and there is also grey damage from blocked normals that stacks up. FYI the poison state expires either after some time or when fang gets hit.
There is also his set of tools to consider, which complements his style.
