I'm probably just phrasing it wrong but when I say crouch, I mean like, down stance. Like holding down the stick and back so you block while close to the ground.

You can do an overhead or jump attack to beat crouch block, and if they are attacking while crouching, you can whiff punish them. They are hitting through your standing block because you have to block low (down and back) in order to block low attacks.

C'mon now.

Well I say this because it will take 6 months for all of the promised features, including the expanded story mode and 5 of the 6 DLC characters. That would bring the roster from 16 to 21. Now compare that to the first arcade release of SF IV, which had 17 characters (19 if you include Seth and Gouken), and the first console version, which had 25 characters (and also had more features and modes).

So i figure by July the game will be more on par with SFIV's first console release and thus justify the $60, because they are charging the same price for almost half as much game.

Wow, just saw Juri in Cammy's ending... can't say I like the new outfit much at all :s

God damn... I just want to win one match... Just one! But it seems like everyone is already at such a high skill level. At least higher than me. Most of my attacks are seemingly ignored (like them blocking from ground blocks literally every attack for some reason) and most of my blocks do nothing as well.
If someone is blocking while crouching you have to either do an aerial attack, an overhead attack (e.g. Karin's forward + mK) or a throw to hit them. If they're standing and blocking, low attacks (e.g. pretty much any kick attack while crouching) and throws will get through. This works the other way for you, so if someone is jumping at you, remember to stand and block because crouch-blocking will just get you smacked in the head :3

But you can get all those features for free in that time frame anyway. So why delay it to get those features rather than release it now and release those features as they are ready?

Wait, so it's really hard to get the rest of the characters with the fight money? like, crazy combos you need to pull off?

perhaps I should get my money back instead of picking it up and wait for the price drop so the dlc will even out...

She can only attack you if you stop blocking, or if she hits you with an overhead (hers is actually pretty slow, you can react to it by changing from crouch block to standing block), grab, or a cross-up jumping attack

I guess I could. But the thing is that I just have zero time to react cause even if I think about doing that for a second they're already doing some massive combo attack.

Like don't get me wrong. I didn't expect to go online and suddenly win game after game. But not even once? Just one win..?

There's not really any crazy combos in this game. But yeah after the first two DLC characters, you're gonna have to start winning matches.

I'm sure there will be weekends with more fight money opportunities, and the new modes will likely have fight money opportunities as well.

You can set the computer in training mode to do overheads and practice blocking them. It's also normal to be losing a lot. Especially when all the pro players aren't even ranked properly since the game just came out.

You know what i hate, that all these modes are connected to online and if you disconnect everything resets they need to patch that out.

You get a bunch of fight money just completing the story vignettes so there's that.

And online you don't really need to pull off crazy combos, you just need to win some matches.

OMG I swear! The only matches that go to completion are the ones where I loose.
When I'm winning, disconnect, every time. :P

Hate to have to think this, but are disconnects still not punished with a loss? I guess that is a good thing if it is really the server failing and not people disconnecting from losses.

I believe it's the server... I've had matches I was losing disconnect and it wasn't me doing it.

Jeez though... It's 2016. You'd think we'd have this whole "networking" thing down even if we don't have flying cars yet...

visual would probably help us give you advice. :)

OK I need a guide on how to get passed disconnects. The DC XX Log Out is what I am struggling against right now.

Any tips?

I'm laughing at the comments about the servers here, I'm just assuming 90% of people here never played a big online game in its release.

I've got the Season pass, have connected online (earned about 30k FM by doing story modes) and it hasn't unlocked any of the extra colors. I still only have the first two unlocked colors for all characters.

So who knows whats going on.

Man another botched launch? This game is getting savaged on Steam.

Honestly, I feel like this just makes the steam community look bad instead of the game. I get being upset that the game has online issues at launch or that costumes are locked, but spamming negative reviews after only a couple hours? Seriously? It's a bit much, especially considering online issues for a game like this are to be expected.

The negativity in general surrounding this game lately has been kind of ridiculous. There are obviously legitimate complaints, but the hyperbole and overreactions are absurd.

A lot of the time you won't be just reacting but rather reading or anticipating, especially online. Rather than watching for what they do you'll need to work out what they can do ahead of time and choose the optimum defence or attack to fend it off, tempered with watching out for the key sign they're about to do it.

For example, I often watch for when an opponent will try and jump in as R.Mika has a lot of tools to punish it and I like to teach them to stop jumping early on so I can concentrate on the ground game or get a lot of free damage if they're really determined to not realise it's a bad idea the 5th time I snag them out the air and plant their face into the ground :P

I thought Season Pass only unlocks all colors for the DLC characters once they're released.

The crossover between WoW players and the FGC must not be that big.

This is just crazy though there was like 4 only-online beta.. like was they just for fun or something? If so thats cool but they said they was doing network and stress tests and stuff.. thought they was preparing for the real deal

When a beta hall happens (no I'm sorry MULTIPLE BETAS HAPPEN) specifically designed to stress test stuff like this, I expect to be able to do anything on the first day.

I can't do shit.

I can't even play single player content without being dc'd. Not mad or anything, I new they'd fuck up anyways. They probably knew too tbh.

Imagine Super Saiyan 3 vs Yamcha.

I'm Yamcha.

That's how most matches go.

sorry couldn't help myself.

Stress tests can't always fully prepare for everyone basically doing a DDOS since everyone's trying to connect at once due to launch. Testing in a controlled environment is very different than trying to set up netcode for a worldwide launch.

You know what i hate, that all these modes are connected to online and if you disconnect everything resets they need to patch that out.

However, this is kinda silly. Could have just had the game keep going through Story/Survival and try to reconnect while you are playing. Or at least Training Mode, wtf.

Exactly. We might as well not even play it at all this entire week even though we bought it because we can't do shit. The entire game is connected to online. The game basically didn't even launch today.

Just woke up (in the UK), saw all the people here saying they were playing, booted up the game to register my name and country (for the fourth time), tried doing Nash's story mode...

"Connection to server lost" -> game kicking me right out of a single player mode - mid fight - back to the title screen.

I mean, I get that FM is stored server side, and why, but why not let me finish a single player mode offline even when the server connection is lost and award me the points later when they come back on? Would there really be no other way to give people their FM except by relying on a permanent online connection, maybe by making use of trophy or save data as well?

At this stage I'm actually worried that I will never be able to play this game in a relaxed manner without anticipating server issues even in single player, especially if any short disruption of the connection means I'm kicked out of the mode I'm in without getting an option to keep playing (and forfeit my FM if necessary).

The woes of modern game fans...
