Now I don't feel as bad for having to work today. Hopefully by the time I finish things would have stabilized.

I'm not holding my breath though, I probably should spend a night in the lab to get used to all the characters.

Just woke up (in the UK), saw all the people here saying they were playing, booted up the game to register my name and country (for the fourth time), tried doing Nash's story mode...

"Connection to server lost" -> game kicking me right out of a single player mode - mid fight - back to the title screen.

I mean, I get that FM is stored server side, and why, but why not let me finish a single player mode offline even when the server connection is lost and award me the points later when they come back on? Would there really be no other way to give people their FM except by relying on a permanent online connection, maybe by making use of trophy or save data as well?

At this stage I'm actually worried that I will never be able to play this game in a relaxed manner without anticipating server issues even in single player, especially if any short disruption of the connection means I'm kicked out of the mode I'm in without getting an option to keep playing (and forfeit my FM if necessary).

The woes of modern game fans...
We were duped into believing we had won the war against "always online" gaming post-Xbox One launch announcement when in reality we still lost the war and it has merely taken shape in different forms.

Well that's it... I'm done for the night.
It's almost 3am.
I'm done with the lag.
I'm done with the slide show matches.
I'm done with single player modes disconnecting in the middle of play...
Done.
I'd say it's been fun, but I'd be lying.

I actually got a match! But it was against a Mexican dude and I had massive rollbacks...

I'm guessing this won't be actually playable until Noon hopefully.

Got this game at around 5PM....it is now 4AM....I think I'm finally done for the night.

Most of my time was spent with versus with my friends. Other than that I worked on some character stories and did Survival once.

Love this god damn game. So much. So glad I don't have work this week.

Edit : I didn't have hardly any server problems. Disconnected a few times when sitting at the main menu, but it never interrupted my game. Sucks to hear for then people that it did.

You know what I hate, that all these modes are connected to online and if you disconnect everything resets they need to patch that out.

Yeah, I agree. That or find a way to let the player finish his/her single player mode and allow him/her to forfeit their FM for now and to receive it afterwards when the connection is restored. If preventing FM fraud from a few shady characters means ruining even the single player experience of all non-fraudulous fans by forcing a permanent online connection (to get what you've earned at least), to me seems to be a case of taking things too far.

can't even do a successful survival run without it disconnecting its annoying.

Nor complete a story mode it seems as I couldn't even make it past one fight with Nash...

Honestly, I feel like this just makes the steam community look bad instead of the game. I get being upset that the game has online issues at launch or that costumes are locked, but spamming negative reviews after only a couple hours? Seriously? It's a bit much, especially considering online issues for a game like this are to be expected.

The negativity in general surrounding this game lately has been kind of ridiculous. There are obviously legitimate complaints, but the hyperbole and overreactions are absurd.
Steam probably shouldn't allow reviews for the first 12-24 hours after launch if you ask me. People with twitchy fingers can't themselves and it does no one any good when these reactionary reviews get posted.

So this is interesting... there's actually not 54 files.... it skips 8 files right in the middle- almost like that's the current number of completed/active DLC characters as of time of release of this game

If you earn Fight Money, it's gonna stay connected online.
Offline hacks would break their online economy.

their should be some sort of ticker or something telling the server you completed something and thats it. It shouldn't be to hard to do because this type verifying is stupid if the servers keep failing.

Been a fighting game lurker for a long, long time -- I enjoy fighting games but have never had the patience to actually get great at any of them. With my brief time in SFV's various betas, and actually experiencing the thrill of winning by playing at my own pace and the mostly-stable netcode in more recent betas, I kind of feel like I might make an earnest attempt with this one.

I'm afraid to go Ken like I usually do in SF games, mostly because of how common he is. Now, I'm not actually afraid of people groaning at YET ANOTHER KEN PLAYER, but I'm just worried it puts me at a severe competitive disadvantage -- particularly as someone who hasn't been great at fighting games -- because his tools will all be figured out much faster due to how frequently he's played.

I have alternatively liked playing as Cammy in some SF games but I always feel like she's a much tougher one to play. Chun was fun in last beta but it'd be my first time ever working hard on learning Chun. Karin seems a bit approachable, and her juggle-heavy playstyle seems neat and rewarding to pull off without having what appears to be an extreme skill ceiling. One of those three, maybe -- anyone have any recommendations?

You're back on the case of rummaging through the files then? Keep us posted!

Servers failing usually only happens the first few days of major online games.
I almost never like getting online games day 1, but I wanted to get my name...

They never have enough servers or bandwidth allocated.

Yeah, this was an epic mistake on Capcom's part. I hope their quarterly financial numbers, tournaments and esports dreams were worth all of this.

So basically you're discouraged from playing this game offline if you don't want to pay for the dlc characters. That's kind of fucked.
Do you specifically mean "without internet access"? Because you can earn FM in single player through different ways, but it has to synch to a server.

I got two Bison Costume codes from Amazon somehow.

Willing to trade them for Cammy or Ryu codes as I never will use Bison

PM me if you want to trade. Going to bed now

As far as offline modes go, I'm definitely sticking to Story and ignoring Survival until the online kinks are worked out. Building up that fight money.

If you get disconnected in Story mode, you can at least jump right back to the stage you left off at once you log back in, but there's no helping you if your Survival streak is ended.

All 3 of those characters will likely be pretty common. Especially with a limited cast. Just go with whoever, and remember that it's okay to lose. Just keep pushing and have fun.

Stress tests can't always fully prepare for everyone basically doing a DDOS since everyone's trying to connect at once due to launch. Testing in a controlled environment is very different than trying to set up netcode for a worldwide launch.

However, this is kinda silly. Could have just had the game keep going through Story/Survival and try to reconnect while you are playing. Or at least Training Mode, wtf.
I hope it gets fixed then.. maybe im dumb but I thought it was just beta woes

Like a mad man I double dipped on PS4 and PC. I have had no server issues on PC but continually get disconnects on PS4??!!

Also Playing on PC then on PS4 (few minutes later) is really jarring. PS4 cant maintain the framerate/smoothness of PC. Once you readjust it's fine but that first match is off putting. I'm wondering if I should stick to one platform...

Speaking from my experience with the last beta, not many people actually use Ken. I saw way more Nash, Laura and Karin players overall.

Ken sucks, Ken's Dead. Nash is the new hotness.

Play whoever you want. Don't worry about people's opinions.

i know that but lets get real here game shipped with half ass features this should be number 1 priority type shit.

Since Online is a mess right now I'll just go and practice some BnBs.

Just wanted to ask, what would be the best option for the dummy? Guard after first attack?

This would make such a great wallpaper if that combo hit count wasn't on there.

Yeah actually...I feel a lot of newbies get put off with his low range normals and his V-Skill being tricky to implement at first, so there was a noticeable drop off I feel.

I made a video that shows off how bad the game runs on my PC.

https://youtu.be/C3782rSH3h8

View @ 60fps. Notice how the frame rate dips lower as the match goes on and makes everything look (and feel) like it's running in slow motion. Can barely throw fireballs.

Pretty bummed out over this. I want to play.

misleading ass title tho

if you've rolled back the drivers, have you tried a straight up FULL DELETE of video drivers and fresh install of them

Well these servers are already dead...

Judging by who shows up in story mode potential future characters might be C.Viper, Oro and maybe that Ed guy.
