Heavy ressenha goes thru projectiles, doing it once or twice to punish fireball spam will stop them from being all willy nilly with them. It's quick enough to be done from nearly across the screen and on reaction at that. light and medium see no use from me

Always follow it up with the down kick, it combos as opposed to the jumping grab that can be ducked/punched out of easily
 
My new Hori Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa won't work with the Steam version even though it says it is compatible with PS4/PS3/PC with XInput :(

Anybody know why?

yep, they have not added direct input support on PC yet. Its coming; like most other stuff

for now gotta run as xbox360 pad. see thread
 
It seems like a lot of the complaints too are easily addressable which is why this whole thing is nuts. A full intro cinematic is already online, yet we only get the short version once. (Not too important, but it helps the game's presentation not be so flat.) Then there is the lack of versus CPU, and also the lack of something simple like an 8 fight arcade ladder. Sure it wouldn't have cutscenes or bonus games, but I think at this point nobody would mind since we would have something to do when the game is offline besides training and grinding survival.
 
How many matches are the Hard survival?, i think i lost around match 40+ with Rashid
50, the problem is the difficulty spikes lol. Sometimes in the 30s and 40s you feel like you're playing a person kinda.

Have you got any tips on cheesing the ai? I'd really like to get the orange ken that's locked behind hard mode.
if you are playing shoto, fireball works really well. Play safe but aggressive in the 40s and try to get some perfects that way you can go into a match with boosted defense or offense and guarantee a win. I would imagine this might be better with characters with good normals, but it may just come down to being familiar with all the characters and knowing what to punish and having a general gameplan. I had trouble with Laura in the 40s and Bison can knock off some health pretty quickly, definitely learn him. But yeah besides cheesy zoning, no real strategy I have man. Just cross up and throw, but it's really random who gives you a good fight and who doesn't.

Its weird because on the box it says the arcade stick supports XInput though (it even has a switch on its side for PC mode).

Easy to punish fireballs with that. Easy Critical art follow up. If its blocked try and and get out by doing her frontflip grab instead of the low sweep since everyone goes low. Don't spam it or you'll get destroyed easily.

This game plays like a dream! Why did they have to fuck so many things up though? It's like a nugget of gold encased in a turd.

I actually thought my game had glitched or something after I played one of those 'story' modes.

I also think survival is pretty poorly designed. Seems like right now it's almost like DMC's Bloody Palace or something

I'd rather have 10-20 fights with actual AI like a normal arcade run. Survival currently has brain dead bullshit for the first 27, not fun at all to get through and extremely frustrating when your only issue is the last two or three fights

It's like if I was struggling with a boss in a shmup, but to get there I have to go through 27 screens with a single basic enemy ship

I actually really like the idea of spending points (almost like a roguelike) but the lack of difficulty on the earlier stuff is garbage. Obviously with 30+ stages it has to be to even be reasonable to accomplish. Bleh

Once online is stable it'll be golden hopefully. I played for a couple of hours around noon today and got in 10+ matches. Some waiting in between but was nice to get the hang of playing with my arcade stick. Also got the 3 consecutive wins trophy, so that was nice

On a side note, I actually like a lot of the artwork in the story mode. The structure/playing itself is of course pretty useless but the pictures aren't that bad, they have a lot of personality. There's definitely some straight up bad stuff mixed in though

That's primarily how I used it in the beta, and it would fuck with people pretty decently. I also use to try timing it to their wakeup, caught a few people in some fucked up loops that way.
 
Looks like I will never get all the colors unless they sell them. They force you play through 20+ useless matches before they hit you with a button reading Necalli. Four times, I just can't beat this bastard and that's just normal. I don't even want to know what it's like on hard.

Yeah, I think it is a huge shame that this game was rushed and is turning off a lot of people. I already like the general gameplay and fighting system much more than any other Capcom fighter from last gen. I feel like I sunk too many hours into SF4 and was always garbage at it, but with SFV everything just clicks.
 
Man I love how just fun all the characters are. Been fucking around with Rashid, Ken, and Mika in the training room and I'm havin a blast. I never expected to like Mika, but she's so awesome.

This game is designed amazingly well. Now if only we could play it...

Apparently Birdie's command chain grab is really good cheesing strat.
 
Thank God Vega's best color is number 6, that means I don't have to go hard in survival mode. But I'm too much of a completionist to simply ignore those final colors.

I hope we get those Japan colors. I need Ganguro Cammy and Tan Laura.

Wait Japan has different colors than us? Where can I see them?

Edit: Fuck I just saw them; those colors are godlike. I hope we get them.

Yeah, that's the problem with Survival. The whole thing is an endurance run, so the enemies can't be too strong. But having the whole experience be brain dead, and then having difficulty spikes right at the end is so frustrating. I feel like the whole thing could be improved if they evened the AI throughout, and then used checkpoints or smaller FM payouts in-between runs.

You are right though that the game is so much fun online when it works. I had a great time with the 5 matches I got to play. The character stories were a decent time killer, but they were an absolute cakewalk. Also, I wish that fight money would only be paid out at the end of a character story rather than after each match. Maybe then I wouldn't have lost two or so payments of FM today. :/
