Do you guys prefer critical arts or EX moves?

I tend to prefer EX Moves tbh. They seem to win me more matches.
Based on how how very skilled players play, it seems like ex moves are much more commonly used.

I think becoming overly focused on using the big flashy critical arts can be a stumbling block for new players.

I think they're talking about toolassisted, who as far as I know, used mechanical exploits, so his arcade stick is modded with a series of macros or something like that, rather than software based cheating.

That's the only way It would work, on console.

In which case, there's not much Capcom could do to prevent that on any platform. It doesn't make sense to implement an anti-cheating system (where you have to hire staff to develop one, or license one out) just for one guy.

Toolassisted is definitely doing more than just macros. He keeps his win streak and points even when he loses. And I'm not sure if this is 100% or not, but he seems to be able to single out opponents when they're searching. he trolls popular streamers a bunch of times by joining their game over and over. It could be a super coincidence, but it has happened a lot.

I think it depends on your playstyle and character. I tend to save meter for my CA when I play Nash, but I don't mind spending meter when I use Necalli or Karin.

In his LP range he probably just searches at the same time with a good probability of finding them. It would be very difficult to rig the matchmaking in the way that you describe.

As for not losing points, you can just disconnect from CFN to retain points on loss. If you had a PC next to you you could have a 'switch' for your network, that blocks communications to the CFN servers on your request. That'd probably do it!

The way CFN registers win or loss is a bit silly. Winner should register match outcome for both players onto the server. Only if winner disconnects, should match data be lost - which won't happen, because winner has no reason to disconnect.

But usually whenever someone rage quits you get a message saying player has disconnected and the match doesn't count at all. If you win against Toolassisted, the match counts and you get points from him but he still keeps his win streak and points stay the same.

Nah, that guy straight up changed his name to "Infiltration85" during the beta and jumped on the real Infiltrations stream to play him. He's doing a lot of shit.

That too. I completely forgot about that. He has to be doing some weird shit with the servers to be able to change his name like that. Plus you can't normally have duplicate names on CFN.

Man, seeing how US citizens could pick up a Fighting Commander 4 for $30 in GameStop, here I am, having to pay a staggering $130 for a FC4 controller...

And yeah, he doesn't disconnect and still keeps his streak and points.

Here's an example of Tool Assisted sniping a streamer, and keeping their winstreak after losing. You'll note that TA is apparently playing on PS4. And here is an article about the server-side shenanigans that Tool Assisted engaged in during one of the last betas.

If anything, it's great that this point problem was discovered before the actual release of SF5, so Capcom can adjust their system accordingly.
Heh

Yeah, but then I have to do a grab on get up, and I do that some times but get hit. Maybe because he's using a light attack and thus is faster?

I mean, that's why it's a mix up. There's nothing about it that's new to SFV. It's about reading your opponent, just like they are reading you. They are guessing that you will block on wake up, so they go for the throw. If they think you will try to tech the throw on wake up, they will attack so you get hit. If your not in a corner, than your not trapped. You should be able to easily back dash, or roll out on wake up. I haven't played a ton, but I know they decreased hard knock downs, and gave some more quick rise options.
If you do get pinned in the corner, you can either attack on wake up and hope your attack will beat whatever is they throw, block or throw.

Interesting.

I mean it can't be any sort of modification local to the PS4. Although if as you say, he had the exact same name as infiltration, that's super hard to explain on any grounds. The names are supposed to be registered on Capcom's servers, so there's no way two of the same should be allowed to exist.

Depends on the character. If you're M.Bison or FANG, then definitely.

If you're cammy or Necalli, HELL NO.
Im Ken, and I'm having moves blocked alot lately even when I try to chain them, and thus get countered although that's partly due to people not being in their pride league area yet, some serious good players on today and all of them have played defensive and countered, outspending me on getting up and when I'm getting up.

I'm starting to think being offensive in this game is a bad idea, it's better to react than be pro active
Offense and defense changes very quickly in this game. I think it's mostly due to very few moves being + on block. Your pressure just ends after a few moves and you have to respect that.

I know what to do with a charged HK from Mika but what options do I have if they block? I do a special grab or back dash and footsies again?

Also is there any use for -> + FP/HP? I know that launch but I cant seem to combo it so I can only use it as a anti-air then?

If you know that the enemy is playing defensive, then you try to do moves that are safe. i.e by the time they can do any reaction to it, you can block their attacks.

You can land an EX air grab with Mika after fwrdHP, I believe the move is qcfKK? Only tried her a couple times but I know it works.

You can follow up f.HP with wingless airplane

I believe you're positive after a charged HK so you can try mixing it up with a command grab or a poke that can lead into a combo such as MP or HP if they try to jump away. f.HP can be used as a pressure tool in that situation too, if they jump you get the hit and a free grab (the QCF+K one, I don't remember the name). Once you get the corner you condition someone into jumping to avoid your command grabs, so f.HP will definitely be helpful there.

Interesting.. At a guess tho he is most likely spoofing as being on PS4. Whatever hack he is using probably allows him to set the ID, just guessing obviously.

I would do a light jab/kicks and throws but they always seem faster than me, it's actually pretty Ridiculous when I think about it. Hell I just had a Nash I heavy kicked in the air, and they did a kick on the way down even though they lost momentum and I landed first.

Well that sucks, it was the last match (of 10) and then my Conus decides to then cause a crash. Sometimes when I switch between Pad and Stick on my Cronus it causes the entire game to crash which I have to keep doing EVERY.FIVE.MINUTES.
The thing is I updated my CronusMax to CronusMaxPlus 1.5 and it still has the 5 minute lock out.
Edit: I do have a PS3 stick but I lent it to a friend for a week.

That being said. GGs. Pretty solid Vega there. Trying out lot's of different counters and options. One thing that keeps getting me though is that I find it hard to cross-up Vega. I always seem to over estimate the jump yet I know the spacing is correct. Are you holding forward or does Vega have a weird hurtbox or something else?

I like to use EX.
My man! Get dat chip!

Wow, Karin's EX uppercut whiffs on oppoents neutral jumping right in front of you. WTF

He did the same type of hacking on 360 (don't know about taking names) in USF4 and that didn't have cross-play.

They still didn't fix the loading times... Waiting up to a minute for or after a match sucks. I wait longer than I play matches. Get regular matches every minute or so, but then the loading ugh.

You both probably landed almost at the same time and you tried to go for a poke but his kick came out faster and won. He couldn't have thrown out a kick on his way down since he would be in recovery from your air to air.
Suggestion: If he always goes for the kick after that situation, then it's best not to press buttons (unless you have an invincible DP like MP or EX Shoryuken) and let them put the pressure on you. If they can't find an opening they'll either back away to gain space or try a jump in attack, that's when you have to punish the jump in and reset the situation. They might also go for a grab if they're close, but it'll probably be pretty obvious.

Yeah, I think you're relying on throws too much. Most experienced players have conditioned themselves to "if he's close to me, he's gonna throw" and 19/20 times, that's the case.

Also what HardRojo said for the kick situation^^

I switched to Ryu for a little time, and finished watching the "Official Character Guide for Ryu", so I know his basics but yet my brain decides to freeze in an actual match.

You'll get better over time, trust me. I've sunk about 10 hours of play with My Ryu and decided to watch an early replay of my first match online.

Was like watching a 2 year old trying to play street fighter. I never blocked, punished or dashed.

Keep at it and the freezing slowly thaws.

GGs Cody, really good Ryu. A lot of the time I was walking forward as my anti-air game is booty. Vega has the fastest walk in the game so unless the knockdown's hard you need tight set-ups.

Just wondering, if I add someone on CFN, does it let them know that?
Basically on Xbox and PS3, you host a lost, then you go to your friends list and invite them. But on SF5, do they have to be on your CFN favourite friend list for you to have the ability to invite them? I've added everyone so far as a CFN Favourite. Lastly, if I do add someone, do I then appear on their list too like an Xbox/PSN friend request?

Yeah I noticed something was up. Still, I managed to do a lot of experimenting and trying out things. I'm gonna try and get this CronusMax sorted and then it's all GGs.
