You sound pretty knowledgeable, Omnistalgic. I'd love to get some sets in with you if possible. Though I'm at work atm. What time zone are you?
Eastern standard time. And yeah I'm a better theory fighter than player lol. Execution is not that good, but i understand the game well enough. I'm OmniCloud on SFV add me anytime

I'm PDT. Sounds good man. I'm just a dude looking to get good. Was out of the fighter scene for a while and got into MOBA's. I'm over it though.

Are you on PSN? My CFN is JeanRalphio.

Nash just feels right. don't know what it is but I feel lots of improvement daily with this game as in sf4 I was deadbeat on arrival and no getting better.

I've been learning Nash the last couple of days. He has a lot of shenanigans people have hard time dealing with. I main Ken, but I feel I can stay on top of players and pressure them more so with Nash.

I'm adding you too. I need to find more people to play with. my CFN is thelogride

edit: adding Lord_Dubz and Omni too. Gotta get my Sim sold, goddammit.

We are almost like opposites and yet the same. I main Nash but feel like I have developed more with Ken today.

Not that good = pulls off crazy Ken combos even with a ton of lag :p

I find that I am becoming a pretty defensive player. Wondering g if Laura is right for that.
Birdie and Chun are both relatively defensive, along with Ryu. And Fang/Sim of course.

Laura is not, she's an in your face Oki monster.
any tips for dealing with birdie as ryu?

seems to make my haduks useless as he can jump grab me instantly when i fire it..
Don't fire them off at long distances or be stationary/predictable, that just lets him eat or jump grab you or chain you.

Birdie's designed in a way that's going to make things rough for you. Your best bet is to get him knocked down and to get in his face (a la Mika) - he doesn't have good wake up options and he's a character who wants to play at mid/long range. He's not like the other grapplers.

Haha. Ken will always be my main man, but damn, Nash feels really good to. Considering Ken is advertised as thee rush character, I feel like Nash has more options.

Yea Nash is Better than Ken, but not by much...I think Kens skill level might be higher to accomplish pretty much what Nash does with normals. I mean Nash literally has Kens step koi lol...

Evo will enlightening...

I'm not sure if this was posted here yet but someone made a very useful thread on reddit containing CFN IDs for pros along with their mains:

I know this was being requested pretty often, so maybe it can go to the OP.

It's really cool to see such a large selection of characters at play. Sure, some seem more picked than others (nash) but for the most part it seems pretty diverse.

edit: also america seems to hate FANG lol

birdie's jump in grab is terrifying

I feel like I have nothing against Birdie as mika lol
You're not going crazy enough on him. This is Birdie's worst matchup.

Once you corner him, his options are incredibly limited and you should be able to mix him up multiple times. Birdie is a ranged grappler - his normals are designed to push you out and keep you away to where his specials work.

Does anybody here game with a Hori FC4? Is it worth it if all you got is a DS3?

It depends on the player really. Some are better with a pad, while others prefer stick. If you really want a stick, then the Hori RAP4 is a really good place to start. Just be sure you're getting the new model with Hayabusa stick and buttons. There's also a silent version but with Kuro buttons.

To me it feels like Nash isn't being used as much as I thought he would. I feel other characters are more used online, like R. Mika, Karin, Ryu, and Ken.
