'What does your main say about you?'.
I REALLY don't want to win.

EDIT: It could also mean I like being a pain in the ass.
"Ken players are handsome." "Handsome?" Chris T and Brent in this case, they are... handsome." "Body is tight." "Julio too, if you look at him... is cute looking."

Rejoice, Ken mains, in your tight bodies and good looks.
KEN MAINS LITERALLY STOLE IN-GAME KEN'S HANDSOMENESS!

i dont know why they didnt just tie all the colors to character level
makes so much more sense to me
survival could still be worth a ton of exp to incentivize you to play it

Good luck getting to level 50 with every character. Even if you do all 4 levels of Survival with a character it only gets you to level 29. And then, you STILL have to pay Fight Money for that crap.

It's still dumb as shit that Capcom made it so you have to go through Survival THREE times with each new costume you unlock. It's like...how dumb can you be, Capcom?

Fight Money is just poorly thought out, through and through. It's a grind one way or a grind in another.

As a side note, I don't know how to get my game to run at 15fps like I randomly did a week ago. I need to re-create it so I can do the trials, lol.

Colors being tied to survival modes is bullshit, no two ways about it, but I would wait for the daily challenges to be implemented before fully judging the FM mechanics and prices.

Eh, they clearly want there to be something to grind for, and it might as well be something irrelevant to gameplay like extra colors.

Let's be realistic everyone, they're going to do 5$ color packs where you get all the first 10 colors for every character by paying.

And TOs will eat that shit up.

Mika players still thinking the hate is about her being OP. Just a shit-designed character in the context of this game is all.

I find it amusing how worked up everyone is about colors. This thread is about 50% bitching about it. Is it really that big of a deal? If they locked something that affected balance sure, bitch away and I'd join in, but only speaking for myself, I'd rather read about match ups, and strats than locked colors.

Color unlocks are pure shit, Capcom fucking trash developer for this shit..

See 50% bitching..

The fact that only the elite survival specialists get the best colors makes them great. It falls apart if you can just cheat for them on the PC, though.

I agree, it's nice to have a symbol showing you did something a lot of other people haven't (I haven't beaten more than normal survival btw), but some people just want to have everything and be able to easily unlock everything

Yeah, seems like a given.

And honestly I think that's fine. They can sell all the cosmetic stuff they want IMO.

if you don't give proper rewards for single player content nobody will play it. casuals will ignore it altogether and demand even more content, with new rewards.

yea, i don't understand this myself. i never plan to play every character full time. i didn't happen in the past, it won't happen now. i will finish hard survival for a couple chars i care about over time and reach level 50 with 1, 2 or 3...depends i guess? i don't need all colors for every character.

I usually play without using any restrictions on the connection and just fighting any casual match that comes up.

Zero issues with the netcode over 95% of the time.

I don't really have issues with the actual netcode, most of the time it's fine

But I do have real issues with the matchmaking

Pokken matchmaking takes literally ten seconds

People have tried to argue SFV being slow is because of low player population but KI's player population is probably a fifth the size of SF's and I get matches faster in KI

There is really no excuse for why SFV's matchmaking takes so long. It's not the player population, it's just incompetence.

Suckers who torture themselves with Extreme are no longer elite.

Sounds like you're just not an elite survival specialist, brah

edit - on a slighty less troll note. I think it's fine people who can do things like Hard or Extreme should be rewarded for it. But I really hate it's colours that are tied to it. Especailly as it's so grindy, rng based and you have to do it dozens of times if you wants the colours for all your characters.

Oh, I could do it, but like Hell I'm gonna waste my time. At least for now; maybe it should have given a single, real special color.

It takes something like, what, 45+ minutes of shoryukens to get through the whole thing? Freaking nuts.

I actually really like the idea of aesthetic elements being exclusive, rare or very specific. It adds uniqueness to each player. I actually find it kind of lame that there's just a dump of titles players can get, and that they're not tied to specific achievements or goals as unlockables in the game. I think there should be more of that, along with the option to buy other aesthetic stuff like different color palettes and such.

Consider the following:
- If you ever bought costumes in SF4, you got at least 10 colors to go with it. You bought them in packs of 5 characters for $5
- In SF5, when you buy a costume, you get 2 colors, and you have to unlock the rest. Even Premium ones that require money. That's bullshit. Why should you have to unlock something you paid actual money for?
- In SF5, to unlock said colors, you have to do it FOR EACH COSTUME you buy, not just each character, meaning you have to go through Survival 3 times successfully for each costume you buy. Considering how much bullshit Survival is, it makes people not want to play it AND buy less costumes because the value involved in doing so is poor.
- Seeing the same 2 colors online and in Tournaments for characters gets boring as hell

Also, Survival Mode has a good amount of Fight Money locked behind it.

A title just isn't enough incentive to go through hell. If there was some super awesome GG style color at the end I'd consider it.

Pretty much, terrible system tbh. Especially considering the amount of effort colours require lol. Even if you're taking your time and painstakingly making sure that the colours look good (which it doesn't seem like Capcom is even doing LOL) it still takes like 10 minutes using a modder-made tool, so probably even less if you actually have Capcom's authoring tools.

SF4 did it correctly, unlock colors by playing ONLINE Matches Against players...

Agreed. I have a very hard time understanding why this matters so much. I couldn't give less of a shit about colors.

i don't think you'll find anyone happy with the <color unlock just for one costume> solution. survival should unlock color slots for the entire character, not just one costume. would be a good fix for this issue.

It's so cool to think we already (should) be getting another character this month.

I really, really hope it's Guile.

Also as far as the color discussion, I would be fine with it if one survival completion unlocked the colors for all the of the costume of the character. Having to go through it for each costume is just absurd. Especially because you don't get FM or EXP. If they're going to make you do it for each costume they should at least give you that.

That being said, SFIV's way of giving out colors is obviously superior.

Aesthetic stuff I want more of:

- Alternate taunts
- Alternate win quotes
- Alternate intro/win animations
- Alternate character face expression next to the health bar

That about covers it. Wonder if they'll ever get to that point.

Guess I've been lucky, matchmaking has been super quick for me since the beta.

Matchmaking has been pretty poor for me, too. Coming from a game like StarCraft II which still considers rank, I often have to wait way too long to get into a game in SFV. And then, sometimes after waiting for 4-5 minutes, I'll get matched with an Ultra Bronze player, which is utter nonsense.

Apparently all the colors for all costumes have been found

Eventhubs

Can't freaking wait to get the Mika premium costume, that shit is glorious

Mika color 15 is some ugly business. Less hype about the 2 levels I've got left to get it, now.

Then this pretty much confirms that the order in the image is the order of the DLC characters.
I've found, even though its not a conscious decision, I always gravitate towards characters with the most obnoxious win animations.
So, I guess it means I'm an ass.

Coming from a game like KOFXIII where I could wait hours and still not get to play anyone... I'm in heaven with SFV :p

Usually get matched with someone in well under a minute.

Finally got Ken's trials complete and the experience was enough to get me to level 25 with him. Hello new color 14, goodbye 10k FM.

Then this pretty much confirms that the order in the image is the order of the DLC characters.

Or, y'know, they said as much on the day Alex released on the CapcomFighters twitch stream.

Didn't know that, cool.

Not sure it was an official announcement and I can't get back to the VOD since I don't sub the channel, but the announcers said something to the effect that the DLC order was known already and put out there (the order in the image, if I was forced to guess). They didn't explicitly list it, but they did make that comment that it was set and known or whatever. So we should be expecting Boxer next, I guess, for May?

Don't know it there was a thread about or anyone posted this somewhere, so i'll post it here:

Thoughts:
(1) Where is Cody?
(2) Where is Cody?
(3) Biker Ken Masters better than whatever this premium schlock Ken is.
(4) Where is Cody?

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Guile. I play so defensively, I think he'll be a good fit. Cammy is fun though.

Guile has been one of my secondary characters since the original SF2. At least 1 of the 2 characters I really wanted from the DLC offerings is early in the schedule. After Guile comes, the wait for Juri begins.
