Why wouldn't they be able to jump out after blocked LP bolt? Unless you mean something different.

Yea jump back works, but it and true reversals are the only things that work. That's why I keep track of their behavior throughout the match. Very very rarely will people jump back after a blocked LP bolt. they tend to have frame advantage and rarely expect a super outside of a combo. So blocking moves makes them think they're safe.

It's obviously not a 100% conversion rate like in a combo, but in my experience it's close to 80% and you get the benefit of full damage without the scale down.

If you're learning to play keep-away characters or charge characters then FANG.

.

Yeah... No. Fang is bottom tier. For a beginner, they will struggle even harder if they pick Fang. I thought that was common knowledge at this point that Fang was bottom tier?

So who is the best non-ryu, non-Nash character for beginners?

If you want a keepaway character I'd go with Chun. She's easily top tier. If you want a charge character, go with Bison. If you want a character that can shut down zoning, does massive damage, and has command grabs then go with Birdie. All three characters are somewhat easy to pick up and understand with more intermediate combos and tricks at higher levels.

Got it, & the rollback may be because of my Wi-Fi. I'll be getting a powerline adapter soon (or I may move the set-up downstairs for Ethernet). Either way, GGs, Rezior

yeah wifi is prolly the culprit ;P, also one more thing, you threw me out of the corner a couple of times, which I think cost you those rounds. Vega has a really tough time in the corner, especially against a frame trap monster like karin.
I know I do it too sometimes since you are prolly just holding back to block while also pressing throw, but for karin is pretty important to not let them get out of that corner so she can bully them into pressing buttons.

People still talking about tiers and the game is barely a month old? Come on, guys. We're better than that. Can we at least give it six months before we make definitive judgments on "who is ass and who is godlike?"

There are quite a few people without names now that are just called "----" ingame, you can't even report their ragequits anymore lol

Wait wait wait you can report rage quits? I've never quit before and I've lost at least 2000 points at this point from rage quitters.

Looking for someone to fight in EU still! CFN: Noray87.
Hay, you can invite me (airhypervipermnz) since I can't creaty a lobby.

Capcom (haunts) was asking for video footage. But that's pretty useless without a name on display.

Thanks to both of you. I've actually never tried Birdie or FANG. I might give them a shot.
The thing about learning FANG as a newbie is that it teaches you how to effectively play a more defensive style character as well as play charge characters. Maybe you'll like him enough that you'll want to make him your main character, maybe you won't but it's always good to experiment with different characters to see which one fits you best.

So like what, upload your latest match? Or do
I have to go in and go through a whole process?

You know, this got me thinking. Why do they want people to upload matches, when they have the infrastructure in place to locate replays. Each replay has its own ID, as do the players. Why can't you just email / twitter a community manager with both of all of that information and be done with it?

EDIT - wait nvm, if you rage quit it presumably doesn't upload. So the match doesn't exist on their systems.

Replays dont save if someone disconnects.

Edit: Saw the edit lol

As is the case with most questions regarding why Capcom doesn't do x thing.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EDIT: Saw your edit, and I believe they do however have disconnect percentages stored on their databases for users.

Can't help but remember reading that somewhere.

When someone quits a match, it doesnt show up on the replay list. Its like the match never happened.

Ah, never mind too much hassle. Capcom gotta figure this shit out. I'm ranked about 10,000 and there's plenty of people ranked above me that are obviously not that good and as soon as they lose they rage quit. Probably can wipe away 500-1000 of the top 15K if they crack down.

Yeah realised that directly after I posted it haha. But thinking about it, it would be a good counter-measure that would make it easier for Capcom to handle. If it uploaded all matches, regardless of if it completes, and mark the match with an "incomplete" tag. So they could see directly which replays to review. Perhaps even without needing players to notify them about the match in question.

i'll invite you in a bit. i don't know much about rashid, will be fun.

great games man, thanks! that double KO early on was awesome :) sorry about the lag patches, not sure what happened. it seemed ok for the most part though. you have a great handle on your characters fundamentals. i had to play very patiently and more respectfully than normal, especially against your nash. i had to do a lot of sitting and blocking - you must blow a LOT of people who press buttons up with him.

if i may give a couple of pointers - sometimes you would block midscreen and i was free to bully you with lights/whirlies when you could have v-reversaled or otherwise escaped. in footsies you seemed to have a great handle on his buttons, but you would often stand still rather than moving in and out of my normal's ranges. nash's anti air (cr.mp?) also is BROKEN as far as i know, but i got away with a lot of daft jump-ins. your anti air game was on point with cammy and ken. i also whored neutral jump heavy into overhead when the heavy was blocked - i didn't mean to at first, it just kept happening and then i kept doing it when i got away with it. great set though, i'd be well up for playing another time.

So far I have played with mostly Nash and Bison. While I like them, neither has really clicked with me. Going to keep experimenting.

Cammy, Birdie
Ah yeah I played the first beta I think as Cammy and I liked her then. Haven't used her in retail but she seems pretty good.

GG mnz. God I fucking hate Karin. And I'm so free to cross ups. I know my AA game is bad, have known forever, it just doesn't want to improve.

GGs! Yeah your anti-airs and also you can totally jump at Karin sometimes, just to mix it up.

lol fought another Karin right after and got bodied just as hard... I just have no fucking clue to fight here. Salty af right now. She can super from literally anything, all that shit is so free. Fuck me.

Trying to figure out, but is there any reason why each character can't accumulate its own LP? Can anyone think of reasons?
It's simpler if each player has a single value for LP and there is a single leaderboard. Other than that I agree with you that they should be doing something per character to make matchmaking more reasonable for people trying to use multiple characters.
KING SMUGKAGE
DR SMUGGLES PHD
SMUG DA BEST
SMUGGITY SMUG SMUG

etc on the leaderboards
I don't get why that would happen. Why would multiple CFNs per user be involved?

That would muck up the leaderboards. I have no idea how hard it would be to code something to only consider a player's top-LP character to submit to the leaderboard, though.

That would work, too. A total LP leaderboard that tracks all LP accrued across all characters you use in ranked.

I was wondering what he meant by the multiple CFNs, too. I just assumed he meant that if a player used multiple characters, then his / her CFN id would be on the leaderboard multiple times, making things look messy. /shrug

It would be incredibly easy. They could have per character leaderboards in addition to an overall. None of this should be hard to do so it comes down to what they think is a good idea.

Anyone else find it actually very hard to do a Reversal out of a quick rise? Heck, the timing window on Reversals in general is really tight, it's actually hard for me to do. I just tried in training, I can do regular reversals fairly consistently now (in training at least), but I can't get 5 in a row out of a quick rise. I can't tell you how many corner combos I eat because I mistime my Reversal.

They don't want this.. they clearly specified they no longer need videos of this and have their own way of detecting drops.

It seems everyone read haunts' initial post with the call to action, and then no one paid attention to the detailed post about how they (finally) developed their own method. For some reason, hardly anyone has acknowledged or given Capcom credit for this feat D:

Actually had some decent games today. I really hope they're working on improving the performance of the game. Studders are sometimes so bad they eat inputs.
