Stuck in the Past - a 33 RPM thread for vinyl listeners and collectors

Just picked up My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy a few hours ago. One of my favorites.

How much did you pay? I'm currently looking for that and 808s. I have College Dropout, but usually I can only find those shitty bootleg Yeezus and Cruel Summer discs in stores.

I took a second trip shopping yesterday (oops) and found an autographed Cancer 4 Cure among some other cool things, so I'm pretty happy.

I actually just bought MBDTF the other day on Amazon for $27. Checking today it looks like they still have it in stock.

After lusting after several vinyl albums at the local record store and lurking in this thread for a while, I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a few records. Don't have a turntable yet, but I figured I should at least start a small collection for when I'm able to get one.

I payed about 33 dollars. Not an amazing deal, but it's one of my favorites, so I'm fine with the price.

Got some nice picks today - will post some photos later once I've unwrapped them and such:

Gridlink - Longhena
Melt Banana - Fetch
Coachwhips - Bangers vs. Fuckers (yessss)
The Body & The Haxan Cloak - I Shall Die Here

Damn, just found out that Carpenter Brut had a limited vinyl release for Trilogy last week and I missed it. I feel like I'm always following releases for artists I like but somehow this one slipped by me. Hoping for a repress or someone reselling for a reasonable price.

I missed it too :( He only gave three days notice before it went on sale!

Got that a few months ago as my first turntable. Only complaint is that for 10'' albums, you have to manually move the arm into position, as it's only programed for 12'' and 7''.

You guys think this is a good beginner turntable? Or should I spend a little more and get one off u turn audio?

I recently got into vinyl collecting and I want a solid unit without breaking the bank too much.

That's my go to answer for entry level turntables. Eventually you might find yourself wanting to upgrade to the LP120, but it should suit you just fine when starting out.

Just got an update, the Blade Runner release is not by Audio Fidelity so I'm going to give it a miss. Pity, its going dirt cheap.

Picked up a Debut Carbon and, after ~5 years away from vinyl, and having to sell most of my collection, I'm back! Gave "mbv" a spin and sounded excellent. Definitely noticed the infamous motor hum, but gonna see if I can't rectify that with the Speed Box, as others seem to have.

Awaiting my Polaris record, and gonna head to some local shops on my next day off.

P.S. Is the Audio Fidelity pressing hard to come by? There's one at my local shop and I love Blade Runner, but the price tag is a little off-putting.

[EDIT] Meh, picked it up. Sounds awesome. Who needs money?

Some store finds today. The Tribulation album is on red, which is nice - those were limited to 500 I guess.

Fingers crossed for MBDTF coming soon.

I think what hurts the most after reading that story is that there are a lot of newbies out there thinking they're getting secret gold and posting about it on their twitters or instagrams with pride. If they only knew most of hat shit could be found at any dollar bin around the country.

Yeah I feel bad for the people who are new to vinyl that think they're actually getting their money's worth.

I remember when the Kickstarter first launched they showed pictures of people holding up albums that are actually worth listening to, like FKA Twigs. Pretty scammy that people are getting $.50 thrift store garbage like Pablo Cruise. I lost it when one of the "curators" saw that a subscriber liked Spiritualized, so they gave him a Lionel Richie album.
